Meta Stack Exchange should use Stack Exchange account ids for its user ids.

Hällo.

HOLA

Bonjour
@TheUnhandledException +10000

Howdy, ya'll!

o/
So I saw a polyglot today.

POLYGLOT?
What is that?

3:30 AM
print $a

heh

And you don't have to yell! I'm only 4,915 kilometres away.

Fiiiiiiine.

Anyway...
is valid in... um...
12 languages, I think.
Yeah.

3:33 AM
But what's a polyglot?

I can make French-English polyglots. "poison"... "café"...
A polyglot is a program that's valid in two or more languages.

Oh, I knew I'd heard that somewhere.

@mootinator's print $a is valid in at least PHP and Perl, for example.

It's like the error page.

Really?
Aw, that's not the right error.
Gotta make an error.

3:35 AM
The 404 page is the one that contains the ployglot

YAY!
C and Perl and PHP and stuff.
Should add #define a <?php and #define b ?>. Then it would be even better.

@TimYiJiang Thanks. You knew what I was thinking haha.

Oh, print $a is valid in BrainF*** too.
'Course, nearly everything is valid in Brain***k.
Brain*u** is a great language.
Did you know somebody made a Mastermind solver in Brain**c*?
Of course, that's not nearly as impressive as the full text-based adventure game that one guy did.

Did they post them on codegolf.se?
ah

Good <insert appropriate time of day>, everyone!

3:44 AM
<time>!
I learned a lot of annoying things about Grails today. :P
I don't even...

@mootinator Yes. No. ...maybe.
Whaaaaaaaat?

I was going to answer "No." but it was too short.

Your account is going to be banned from posting chat messages if you keep doing that.

ok

Sorry I can't really look at your account to see what's happened. If you've been deleting your own questions/had them deleted on you that's the usual culprit.
But don't take my word for it, I just lurk here. O_o.

Is that what we're calling it now?
@balpha you ever do any useful long-running powershell scripts?

I never do anything useful nor long-running nor powershell. But powershell in particular -- never really used it.

I can't seem to find a way to stop the script that doesn't involve "exit"
and Exit in a term is death to the term
And randomly a blog post suggests that break might do what I want ... so I try it, and it seems to do what I want ...

Quick. Now that I've answered this question with something appropriate to that specific scenario which isn't covered by the "original" question, someone cast the 5th close vote.

A: Grails: how to display images in <g:each> tag?

mootinatorYou can render the image inline the way you're attempting using the rendering plugin, and the following gsp tag (This is for a png Check Inline Images in the docs for other content types): <rendering:inlinePng bytes="${it.image}"/>

hmm meta post or team@ for a "possible pattern of spamyness" flag that has a user list which even reduced to numbers is too long to fit in a single flag?

7:42 AM
Hmmm. Does console.log run asynchronously in node?
Hmmm. The async thing might be because of something else. But this error... this shouldn't happen

A: JSF2.0 ResourceBundle needs to be reloaded without server restart

miller@BalusC: I'm very proud of you. That's a final answer for reloading/refreshing resourcebundle since I worked with some block of code but didn't work. Although, this is a hack but it is the best solution until now.

weirdest NAA thanks ever

Why was the "The great Stack Overflow tag/question cleanup of 2012" thread deleted?

Because it didn't really serve a useful purpose for anything past a short period of time.
Technically that made it "Too Localized" (which it was) and therefore had it been closed (it probably was) it would've been cleaned up by the regular scanner (if I recall how the tsql jobs on SE work)

I think it serves a purpose as documenting past cleanup actions

You're approaching SE with the mindset that it needs to be cleaned up
Why must it be cleaned up?
Why can't it just stay tidy continuously?
That's the reason we have all these edit privileges

I wasn't a fan of the clean up

Then why are you even asking about it?
Let's start with the intent you came in the room over

8:58 AM
but I think the thread documents several decisions regarding which tags to delete and keep

Was there something about the tags that were kept that made the decision to keep them nebulous or are the tags intentful/reasonable?
I'm all for documentation (I wrote 1800+ words of documentation aside from URLs today in addition to two customer deployments and debugging a massive set of install scripts) but sometimes you have to just throw trash away, especially if it didn't serve a useful purpose.

For example it documents the decision to delete individual CJK tags, but keep the CJK tag

Tags should be self-documenting (in terms of usage, and especially with the tag-wikis)
Ever notice how almost nobody ever quotes a discussion in ThirdPlace when they are talking on Meta?
Some things are fleeting and temporal and don't need to be gone back over repeatedly
Tag cleanup is one of those things. It's just easier to coordinate with dozens of users using a meta post than a chatroom, because they all devolve into bollocks once established, except for the THC chats
Those get locked
So, starting over, as I asked a moment ago - a recap: CodesInChaos really wants to ensure that we maintain the documentation (via meta post) over why certain "CJK" tags were kept when most were removed, and feels that this particular point merits not-deleting the "The Great Stack Overflow Tag/question Cleanup of 2012" post. Right?

That was just the one I noticed.
But I think there were more decisions on how to treat certain tags
I see no merit in deleting that thread in the first place

Were those specific one-off handlings or were they reasonably generic?
Most people see no merit in deleting anything.

9:06 AM
Mainly generic. I think threads should only be deleted if there is a good reason for that.

Such as if they are specifically focused and won't ever help anyone after the fact?
@CodesInChaos it doesn't sound like they were generic from what you're describing.
It sounds like it was highly specific regarding a few sets of tags
Therefore it should either be made into a generic post (without all the commentary and side-discussions of the original post, so, in essence, a totally new post needs to be made) or it should be deleted.

I just noticed it because of those tag, since my downvote on the related answer disappeared.

If a new post was made about "when should we clean up tags" then I'm almost certain that's a duplicate

The post was mainly "I think the following tags are useless and should be deleted" and it had discussions for several of them. I just remember the CJK discussion because that was the only one I was involved in. But I think there were discussions about the merit of other tags too.

I'd like to complain, anyone else hate the minimums? Could we have a rule for 50k+ Rep to be able to write shorter posts?

@YuriyFaktorovich Mmm... nope.
What do you have to say that's less than 30 characters?

There's a bunch
Homework?
was the most recent one

Oh, you mean comments?

before that I had a shorter answer, which I didn't get in because It was lower than 19 characters
or whatever the min was, 19 just jumps out in my head
and really it was, because there was a link in there, it didn't count the characters from the link

Well, for the comment:

3:02 PM
which seems strange to me

> Is this homework?

no shit sherlock

Voilà.

that is what I changed it to

Great.

3:02 PM
I'd still like to be able to enter the first one, I feel it is descriptive enough

Descriptive, maybe. A little barky-sounding and mostly unhelpful? I'd say yes.

barky-sounding?

I don't agree that links in answers should count, either. I have been annoyed by that a few times, but you just have to explain a little more in detail.
Or pad it out with zero-width spaces :)

The zero-width space (ZWSP) is a non-printing character used in computerized typesetting to indicate word boundaries to text processing systems when using scripts that do not use explicit spacing, or after characters (such as the slash) that are not followed by a visible space but after which there may nevertheless be a line break. Normally, it is not a visible separation, but it may expand in passages that are fully justified. In HTML pages, this space can be used as a potential line-break in long words as a replacement for the non-standard tag. However, the zero-width space is not suppor...
Works for comments, too.

3:05 PM
what's the encoded character for it

If you must. But this was already discussed and declined.

I figured, didn't feel like figuring out a way to find the thread

I don't know :D I just copy and paste it from that article.
Ah.
&#8203;

I believe the editor was changed to ignore HTML in the character count.

3:08 PM
eww
ohh well, if it was already discussed
then I'll abide by outcome
not that I have a choice

@jadarnel27 Your feature request is missing a crucial piece of information :O

5:13 PM
@TimStone gasp!

I figured it out, I suppose :P

...what was it? Did I forget to say that I'm awesome?

I was having trouble deciding where to put the button.

Oh. Hahaha. I thought about that right after I posted it.
(That I should have mocked something up / made a suggestion)
Perhaps next to the "Run Query" button (like they do with the "discard draft" link on questions / answers now)?

Yeah, that's where I put it.
The interface needs to be cleaned up a bit in general, but I'll leave that for later.
Probably when I get back to working on that other mystery feature..

5:17 PM
Priorities =) Wait, mystery feature!
Oh. That tiny screenshot thing? Boo, I still haven't figured that out.

Yeah!
I think there was something else I was claiming to be working on then too, but I don't re...Oh, yes, now I do.
I should actually work on ^ first, I suppose.
But before that (but after implementing the cancel button, since I'm doing that right now) I suppose I'll switch back to the election site so I can get Rebecca to push out those changes.

Ok, I've got to go eat breakfast now. @TimStone - My D3 name-thingy (is that actually called something?) is "brown#1841"
brown

Hahahah
Food...sounds like a good idea.
Wow, look at the time. O_o

@TimStone But I have no interest in the election site! Your priorities should obviously be based solely on my interests.

I'm more inclined to base my priorities on the terror that @RebeccaChernoff will cast down upon me if I don't get them done. o_o

5:41 PM
terrorizing @TimStone...something I can always make time for (:

I feel so special! ...In a horribly unsettled sort of way.

Q: Extraneous alert when saving edits?

MosheI've recently been prompted to edit several of my answers on Stack Overflow, and when attempting to save them, I get the "are you sure you want to leave the page?" alert. Clearly, this is inappropriate, because I intended to click "save edits".

Heh, apparently the Meta Posts table isn't large enough for me to easily make a sufficiently slow query on my machine, hmm...

7:54 PM
Is moderator mass retag somehow recorded? Is it visible to normal users?

8:08 PM
@nhahtdh Not really. It is logged, but there's no public record of it unless someone chooses to document it on meta. Occasionally this is irritating.
