RIMSHOT: BlackBerry manufacturer RIM put out a survey for people who make apps on a website that's popular among programmers. They want to figure out what it would take to get great apps on BlackBerry phones.

They followed up the survey with an email in which they accidentally shared the email addresses of over 50 app developers.

The amount of stuff Google knows about me... is rather scary

I must say. I'm impressed with RIM.
Despite my Apple leanings, that is.
They're making a concerted effort to attract developers. And StackOverflow was where they chose to do it.
Good move.

Hmmm, what did they do? Buy some ad space?

@TimYiJiang The put an ad up for a survey for mobile devs. Then, the guy who responded to the survey CC'd instead of BCC'd. Then somehow everyone didn't get totally annoyed and they got the VP of Dev Relations to field emails from this microcommunity.
I like what they're doing, although it's quite likely too little too late.
They've expanded their toolkit to support Mac, which is logical, considering their target market is largely comprised of iOS developers.
@TimYiJiang So yes, they bought ad space. But it's what they did after that that's impressive.

Apparently it was the will of the people, so not only was it not your fault, it was what everyone wanted...or something.
