Q: What is this very short power cable called?

PortmanI have a couple of networking components in my rack that take giant AC adapters ("power bricks") that don't fit neatly into my rackmount PDU. I have one "thingy" that is shown below, and I need to buy a few more. But I have no idea what I'm searching for because I don't know what the "thingy" i...

@Jeremy: Why is that on ServerFault? What does that have anything to do with anything?

@animuson It has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

I was searching the internet for "stack overflow sucks" (because such posts often have links to deleted questions people care about and I am looking for archive or undeletion candidates), and happened to come across it listed as an example of the weird sort-of community fun that exists on Stack Exchange, despite the lack of directly social features.

and I found the answer somewhat hilarious. Now that you mention it, its suitability for Server Fault is... a little questionable.

Is there a way to include comments in search?

@CodeInChaos No. The data dumps do include them, but they're usually a few months old
Try using Google, which should still index comments

A: Is there a sleep function in JavaScript?

Reemaf you run the above function, you will have to wait for 3 seconds (sleep method call is blocking) <strong class="highlight">function</strong> myFunction(){ doSomething(); wait(500); doSomethingElse(); } <html> <head> <script type="text...

What is this I don't even...

@je - what on earth is that site? its not SE? is it??

Anonymous
@Lix One of the few surviving Stack Exchange 1.0 sites, running a fork of the engine that hasn't been updated (at least significantly) in years. :D

Lix
oh my... so it is under SE's jurisdiction then...
just an old engine...
and still active by the looks of things :P

@Lix Yeah, there was a lot of discussion on their meta about the possibility of them joining the network, but they weren't in any hurry to surrender their autonomy. I'm not sure where things stand now.

Stack Exchange has stopped supporting most (all?) other 1.0 sites. MathOverflow's probably getting special treatment because of its success.

Do you know of any "advantages"? Things they might have learned and taken out in the newer versions?

Anonymous
@Lix I don't know of any.

> For example, on MO, we are able to change our votes for 1-2 hours after we make them without getting the error message "can't vote unless post is edited blah blah". This is annoying because I've often "used up" all of my votes for the day and have removed votes that I cared less about in order to vote on other posts. With SE2.0, this threshold is lowered to less than 10 minutes (I got the error message at 10 minutes 31 seconds).

So... not deliberate features, but some differences that people might prefer.

Oh, not all relevant threads are categorized in there. For example, this meta-meta discussion.

@YiJiangsProble_ Can't we... somehow... delete it as being a copyright infringement of pastebin.com/7Ubtgniy? :D
Oh my... 33 hits, shivers...

Heh. Apparently I registered on Math Overflow a couple of years ago.

The only thing I did with it was favourite a question about undergraduate math textbooks which has since been closed.

It's kind of neat to poke around the site and be reminded of how much SO has been polished up since the fork.

Is there a way to find out where the users for an announcer badge came from?

9:03 PM
Hey!
Quick question, how do you respond to a rollback from the OP on your edit?

Lix
9:25 PM
@Emil - I think the OP didn't mean for those lines to be comments... They look more like short titles for each brick in the wall of text he posted :)

@Lix Well, yes, but the amount of code he posted takes up so much space, it is better to have it all in one block so that one can scroll inside the code if you want to. Is that bad thinking? :p

Lix
No you are 100% correct - but that's just your opinion - it is in fact his post :) You tried though. Just leave it if he is that insistent.

Yeah, of course. It's just the fact that he's a new user that made me ask :)
