A weekend project getting to take longer than expected. Then of course is the physical pain of lack of sleep and typing for too long. I need a short break.
The trick here then, is to make that little asterisk into a sort of TARDIS - able, despite its apparently small area, to contain DBA egos of astronomical size.
@Shog9 well it already holds mine, and if you joined I think we could get it to be larger on the inside than the entirety of the outer portions of the venn ;)
@mootinator I'm quite positive I deleted my second answer a long time ago... Because the second-oldest one currently is actually rather decent, and I'm sure I wouldn't have done that intentionally.
The only objection I have to DBA is that I spend enough time insisting I'm not a DBA that it would be a bit hypocritical to start hanging around there.
@Shog9 Yah, I did that once when BofA kept dead-calling me. (Well, at least the caller ID said it was them.) I was considering doing it more often, but I don't know that it makes a difference. =/
@GeorgeMarian That pisses me off. If you're going to try and scam me or extract money from me for more "legitimate" things, then at least be on the other end of the damn phone when I pick up, heh.
This one time I chewed a guy out for constantly calling me. He got upset and called me a "bloody rascal" (in an Indian accent). So, he called again. I then said "I thought I told you never to call this number again, you bloody rascal!" That, apparently, put a stop to it. :)
(I swear... "Ruby programmers" are really just a bunch of trolls off LOLing it up somewhere while the rest of us try to make sense of their terminology)

Ok well... obvious first solution... does it only fail if it's valid JSON? If so, why not make it invalid JSON? E.G send: '<jsonData>'+whateverYouSendNow+'</jsonData>'
then on both sides, strip <jsonData> / </jsonData> from the start and end
or, simpler: just append data follows or something to the start
@statuscompleted I am trying to break on my application, but all data we send is HTML, so every time I try to get it to send a " it sends " instead...
@RebeccaChernoff I'd like to pester you with a StackApps question: For a script (the status script) I will be creating a "helper library" in JavaScript to detect chat events. Would such a library be on-topic for posting at StackApps?
@RebeccaChernoff I am making a collection of javascript classes to represent chat rooms, users, messages and the like, and a way to attach event handlers for chat events like messages posted, edits, etc
so you could say SEChatObjects.getCurrentChatRoom().observe('messagePosted',function(message){ if(message.user.name ==...
but it's not a script, it's a library to support the status script.
Also I need a better name than SEChatObjects -- anyone have ideas?
@RebeccaChernoff Hmm, it looks like only one required tag is displayed on that page? StackUnderflow.js has the [app] and [library] tags, but I only see [app] there.
If I visit http://chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/rooms/info/89/the-tavern-general/?tab=stars&mine=true I get a lovely little list of starred comments, but I can't find the ones that I starred most recently (not necessarily when I starred them, but the most recent comments first).
How can I do s...
