@Chacha102 see the number on the bottom left of the room cards, called "all time users"? That's the number of people who have left at least 3 messages in that room

Feature request. The ability to move a question in line with it's intended conversation thread :P (ducks, rolls and runs)

8:52 AM
I think I see a
status-declined
coming up... (@DiAgo)

9:18 AM
@MarcGravell I concur
status-bydesign
Would be slightly less hurtfull thought

status-meh

9:59 AM
Beneath the tavern on the room overview page, it says "in 13 hours - happy hour", what is that?

Free drinks for everyone

Always when I'm in bed :(

Yay, free drinks
But 13 hours? that's 1 hour past midnight for me :(

What's the ticker?

@badp a way to not clutter up the chat with busy feeds

12:38 PM
I was actually thinking it'd be an horizontal scroller but I guess it'd make no sense in a chat. :)

what do you do, inspect the dom every 10 minutes for changes? :)

1:00 PM
That's what I did :)
Oh look, I just had one of those mentions coming from nowhere

1:20 PM
@badp can you describe? still having "fun" tracking this down...

1:38 PM
There's not much to describe, unfortunately.
@MarcGravell Shortly after balpha joined Ticker Test, I heard the beep.
He didn't say anything, however.
My beep setting is "All rooms"

the ticker causes a beep, too

Oh, that could be the reason.

which I'm now noticing doesn't neccessarily make sense...

2:24 PM
When will chat refresh my picture from gravatar?
it has in here, but not all other rooms
Whenever I refresh that tab, nvm

5 hours later…
7:03 PM
@balpha is there a way to turn the sound off?

@BrucevanderKooij Click on the Speaker Icon

@Diago ah right, I had removed the sidebar :-)

7:17 PM
@balpha Can you please run this google search
And tell me what the first result is you get?

the second one is more interesting

Does the first result show as this one by any chance? It looks rather strange
And if I click on it, it goes to this question:

Q: C# Automatic Property DeSerialization of JSON

DrJokepuI need to deserialize some JavaScript object represented in JSON to an appropriate C# class. Given the nice features of automatic properties, I would prefer having them in these classes as opposed to just having fields. Unfortunately, the .NET serialization engine (at least, by default) totally i...

Is something up with the RSS feeds? The question feed in chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/rooms/32/server-fault seems to be stuttering pretty frequently the last couple days

you mean, "this one - Stack Overflow" ?
@Zoredache - I wonder if it is ending up with concurrent processing. I'll log it to investigate

@MarcGravell That's the one

7:26 PM
bizarre

I wonder if that's worth a meta post

here is a bunch of permalinks. http://chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/transcript/message/160734

Thanks @Zoredache; have seen elsewhere too

No problem.

@MarcGravell Guess we will find out

Q: Even Google knows SO is the one....

DiagoDoing a Google Search this evening I noticed the following interesting first result. It seems that even Google knows that SO always has the answer, except the link points to the question C# Automatic Property DeSerialization of JSON. I am not sure if this is a bug, or if SO can even control wh...

@Juan (as room-owner) - when you see this ;p For info, we have a new option to display feeds outside of the main chat area, which you may want to consider - it might be less invasive to the ongoing chats.

where is it @Marc?

currently on the edit page, but that section will probably move into a tab soon, like the slicker user-access controls.

ah yeah I see it now
so this is shown on the right somewhere?
I enabled it for the gaming blog, curious to see what it does

8:59 PM
@MarcGravell where is it displayed?
(what is a ticker?)

like a stock ticker... basically, the feeds appear outside of the main chat area, to avoid making the chat nothing but RSS items

like the "we are about to deploy something" notification?

not quite - it is customised to the purpose. Perhaps just try it and see if you like/dislike it ;p (easier to see than to describe)

let's see
We usually discuss new questions as they come in, so it's useful to have them posted into the chat

that might be more annoying than having it in chat by having to dismiss it all the time

9:08 PM
you can reply to the "Gaming" (feed) post

OK - if they are likely to form an integral part of your chat, perhaps leave them in the body. That is good feedback to consider different use-cases. If it is OK with you, I'll drag some of these messages back to "chat feedback", as they aren't about gaming.

sure

chat is working very slow for me right now
anyone else having problems?

no @Juan it has been working fine for me

9:13 PM
ok thanks

I have debug stats running constantly at the bottom of my page - currently seems very smooth in terms of the server. Can you define "slow"? (might also be better over in chat-feedback ;p)

@MarcGravell one problem is that I cannot enter that room ;)

Well, the server has exactly 1 error logged, and that was 6 hours ago... so I don't have anything obvious to report... does it just hang the request?

Loading Chat feedback
Just a second…
and it's been more than a second
F5 F5 F5
nothing
everything works fine (other sites and the like)
I doubt it's my connection
anyways, feel free to move this messages again, I'll keep trying :P

@Juan According to your SO rep, there's a good chance you know your way around a browser; any script errors? 404s? 500s? anything odd like that?

9:21 PM
nothing, I'll try FF and firebug, one sec
It took 20 seconds to download the logo from sstatic.net
perhaps it's something on my area
weird that everything else seems to be working

No problem from here (and I'm nowhere near the server):

ah
I got in

welcome ;p
I have no sensible answer to why it is slow for you. My developer-teflon response is "possibly not me, guv'?"

9:31 PM
I understand, I'm a developer too

why did you start moving posts @Marc, other than it being very cool

because they were offtopic in the gaming room @IvoFlipse

guess you're right

I think we can finally put the /me argument to rest
Thanks to @MarcGravell

show off ;p

9:40 PM
ok, I saw your new 'less intrusive' feed @MarcGravell, seems fine

@MarcGravell Awww dad.... I just have to play every once in a while :)

9:55 PM
@Diago! go to your room...

Yes dad. I am about to go to bed. Can I have a goodnight hug please :)

Hmm, I switched the feed to the ticker, and when there was a new item, it reposted the previous item to the chat. I don't see a ticker.

I dislike the ticker :/

I want to see the ticker.

10:13 PM
@rchern just point it to stackoverflow.com/feeds, then.

That'd be cheating! :P

2 hours later…
11:59 PM
I think I'm ticker blind hehe
