If 'final grade' means end of the year, then yes. If it means 'end of high school', then no. If someone fails at the exams in one year, they just have to re-do the year.

But it makes sense though. The stuff you learn, it all stacks up in the next years. If you fail in one year and don't redo it, you'd just have more problems in the next year.

@ShadowWizard I know one or two, but not in the sense of "friend with", just "know them".

@ProgramFOX well, not 100% sure but I don't think there is such thing here. If you fail, you just have to try harder next year, and learn yourself whatever you failed at in previous years.

There are two kinds of people who fail a year. The ones who don't understand the subject matters, and the ones who don't do any single effort for school. For the first group, it would benefit them to redo the year. And for the second group, you just know that they won't "try harder" in the next year to catch up with what they missed, it would just be more discouraging.

@ProgramFOX well, since here anyone reaching 18 must go to the army, they can't really redo years. That's probably the reason we don't have such thing.

But there are jobs that don't require them, that I'd still count as decent jobs.
