I am very much in favour of trying to get something bigger off the ground than just an evening in the pub.

There seem to be two serious suggestions for that: Jon Skeet's and VonC's.

VonC's venue suggestion has a branch in Canary Wharf, which would be cool because it's not too far away from the original DevDays venue (apparently just a few stops with DLR).

Google (if the potential opportunity mentioned by Jon would be at their headquarters, which I don't know) are located near Victoria station, obviously much farther away but not impossible to bridge by bus or tube... Plus it would be an opportunity to get a glimpse inside Google which I would find cool.

@Pekka Must agree. Not to belittle anyone else's journey or the opportunity of the meet, but there's a bar around the corner that I'm too lazy to go to - so not sure I'd be too inspired at the thought of a 5/6 hour drive to another. Though I've done stranger things.

@MrDisappointment Yeah. I think the minimum is an afternoon event; I would love to see an event all day monday.

Definitely, an all day event would be decidedly awesome.

Looking at VonC's answer it seems that might be a bit more plausible in terms of venue and control etc.

Yeah. Being at Google would be great, but this might need an all-day venue.

Or maybe both?....

A lot will depend on the speakers, of course.

Yeah! I will see whether I can set up a small web site (just a tiny tiny page containing all the essential information and links to the appropriate Google Docs or whatever). Some time over the next couple days. That would be some starting point to direct people to.
