@ShadowWizard To be honest, I feel completely out of the loop in German politics and Israel to even have an opinion what it means in the great scheme of things!
I read German news every day, but somehow you lose touch when you're not physically there.

Heh, fair enough. :)

What do you make of this legalizing settlements retroactively thing?

12:32 PM
@Pëkka mistake, of course. Our PM did it only so he won't lose votes in the next elections, as majority of the citizens here don't think it's a mistake to steal land.
99.999% of his decisions are based on "Will this give me more votes, or not?", not "Is this really smart, or not?"
Maybe 100%, but giving him the benefit of the doubt.

12:55 PM
@ShadowWizard Heh! How reassuring to see that principle exists and thrives throughout the world.
I despise pretty much all of German top politicians for exactly the same reason.

@Pëkka true.... is it as bad in Germany? Doesn't look this way in our media.
e.g. Merkel showed mercy towards the immigrants, even though it cost her tons of votes.
Our media (at least mainstream, which is left winged) never really showed bad sides of her, when I think about it.

It is largely as bad. I was shocked to hear this lardy, corrupt EU bureaucrat has been declared the new hero of the working man, the Obama of the left-center, the main candidate for the next election. So incredibly bizarre.
Merkel is the only one I have some form of respect for, personally, although I don't share a lot of her politics
That refugees thing seemed indeed guided by something else than just pure calculation. Or at least not completely by it

@Pëkka huh. What's so bad about him?

Nothing very specific really. He's just... a typical politician, far removed from any of the ailments of his constituents. Lived like a king as President of the European Parliament. I follow a satirist who made it to the EP as the candidate of a joke party and for two years he's done nothing but document the decadence of the EP - limousine services, gigantic paychecks without even having to show up for votes, etc. Same old same old really.
Now he's "reinventing" himself as an outsider tackling the establishment. Lol.

1:14 PM
Who knows maybe Germany will have its own Trump then. Someone new to politics who can promise wonderful things, and people would believe him. Sounds like this is all that is required, since many people are fed up with the old politicians.

3 hours later…
4:18 PM
@ShadowWizard yeah. The promise of the new is the oldest lie in politics.
Well, we will see
I guess Le Pen and our AfD not winning is the best we can hope for.
Everything else is details
