a few weeks ago, I saw a article on a SE blog that sait that duples are not so horrible because it gives multiple ways to get an answer

But... sometimes we do need to send a signal that a question isn't a good fit, so downvotes do have value.

when I see someone has a few downvotes, I don't feel the need to add another one... I feel like I beat someone already on the floor

especially if the person has already apologized

when they started downvoting, I instantly reacted to apologize

someone quicly answered, so the question was not deletable

i asked for a moderator to delete the question but he refused

but, yes I'm ok

@Bebs well, depends in the situation. In your case I do agree, nothing bad was done, and the mistake of asking a trivial question wasn't done on purpose.

But sometimes people are just trolling and posting obvious/silly questions on purpose.

MSE is a weird place... no doubt in that. :)

On all other SE sites, such a barrage of downvotes usually mean "this is horrible question and should be deleted ASAP"
