@ShadowWizardLoveZelda I did not. In fact I had totally forgotten this had happened until you just responded to my message! 😂
(14 years ago. Wow.)

5 hours later…
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard brews a cup of affogato for @Sha
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard brews a cup of Earl Grey tea for @elements
@VLAZ I don't fear centipedes and bugs.
I just don't see the reason why would I fear them ;)
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard Kinda sorta
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard they come out of the bomb holding tiny knives
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact I did too
06:47
🚽

1 hour later…
08:13
@Tinkeringbell I got licorice coated in chocolate.
@VLAZ exactly! :D
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact I behaved myself and did not :P
@TheUnhandledException my pleasure. :-D
@Tinkeringbell Good.
08:20
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda brews a cup of latte for @The
I also bought biscuits.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact limp?!
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda No.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact Lucky.
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda They keep rollin rollin rollin off the table.
08:26
@VLAZ so it's bis quits.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact I got chips instead. Sour cream and onion :D
And stuff to make meatballs.
@Tinkeringbell no soup?
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda No. These will be real meatballs, not the weak baby kind that will be diluted with soup
08:57
@Tinkeringbell Should get sour cream and an onion dip instead.
@Tinkeringbell Beatballs?
09:28
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact Nah, meatballs. I'll try making them in de new slowcooker. Probably will use this recipe: projectgezond.nl/jouw-nieuwe-favoriete-gehaktbal
And then combine some other recipes for the 'juice' to cook them in, as the slowcooker does need some moisture added. Probably a using a meat stock and/or powdered gravy dissolved in water.
With more herbs/spices
Did I mention I am already really happy with having purchased the slowcooker XD
@Tinkeringbell yummy!
I hope so!
Otherwise I'll be stuck eating not-so-yummy ones as I refuse to throw food away XD
lol
Send them to @Andreas it's not very far away. :D
Or perhaps @rene who is even closer? ;)
09:48
Eh, if they truly become health hazards there are a few dogs that I know that can use one. Otherwise, I don't mind, it's just the consequence of my own actions :P
@Tinkeringbell It's super great! I can also recommend an air fryer for cooking faster. Like, making sandwitches, cooking sausages, etc.
But I love me some slow cooked pork.
Annoyingly my problem is that I don't have the space to have both at the same time (well, not easily), so I mostly use one or the other. I might need to go get some pork and get out the slowcooker, though.
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda the meatballs need to be really good ...
@VLAZ I have been considering a small air fryer, but I'm thinking I'm probably not strong enough to resist the temptation to just fry fries and snacks in it instead of healthy food. Also, I have limited space to store all sorts of devices XD
I did get a separate trolley to put the slow cooker on (will arrive tomorrow), which I can and plan to also use this summer as an 'outside kitchen'.
I'm getting a 2-pan induction plate for it too, just so I don't have the 'heat' of cooking in my apartment in summer.
bol.com/nl/nl/p/… < That's the thing I'm getting tomorrow :D
I feel the pain of not having enough space. Same with me. At leat I can store stuff on top of my cupboards but using them requires switching things around. And I don't even have enough power plugs. There are 5 in total in the kitchen where I can place electric devices and even plugging more stuff usually requires unplugging something else. Like the kettle, or a phone charger, or the washing machine, or the coffee machine.
If I want to store stuff on top of cupboards, that would require getting out the ladder each time I need something XD
I do have enough plugs (4, with only coffee and kettle plugged in permanently), and the washing machine is in the bathroom so no worries about that one. :D
My main annoyance right now is the cupboard that holds the glasses and cups and stuff. It just isn't right... XD
I'm not sure how to fix it yet though
@Tinkeringbell Cheatballs
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact What, why?!
They're good and nice and tasty and and and
They're even 'healthy' :P
@Tinkeringbell Sheetballs
10:11
Well now I definitely know I won't be sharing.
@Tinkeringbell Sadballs
Not sad at all, more for me!
10:34
@Tinkeringbell I notice the recipe says to fry them. How would you slowcook them? As in how long would you set them for?
I'm going to first brown them, then put them in for 2 hours (other slowcooker recipes for balls of similar size use that time :) )
At that point, I'll probably stick a wooden skewer in to check if they're done, if not I can just leave them for longer.
Awesome, thanks!
I'll make notes :P If it succeeds I want to be able to reproduce next time, and if not I want to know what I did so I can find what to change.
Spoken like a true scientist alchemist
The problem I have with cooking is that it never turns out the same twice XD
Even just because the ingredients sometimes differ already XD
10:55
lol

1 hour later…
11:59
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard Thanks.
@ElementsInSpace You're welcome.
:D
@JourneymanGeek It's annoying. Like sometimes an apple will be really sweet and another time the same breed of apple will be more sour... and they look alike from the outside!
12:39
@Tinkeringbell at that point, it stops being cooking, and becomes applied chemistry
@JourneymanGeek I watched a video of a coffee enthusiast explaining stuff about making coffee. And they did get down to applied chemistry. Explaining how it's important to control all the variables for the coffee - use the same coffee, grind it to consistent size (apparently the motor grinders do inconsistent job), use the same temperature water, etc. Then start changing each variable to tune it for best taste.
Me, a plebeian, just uses coffee pods.
Also, I do about 1:1 coffee and milk. So most variation is being smothered in cow juice
@VLAZ There's tea snobs that use special water then add certain minerals back in, apparently XD
@VLAZ so is ours
@Tinkeringbell Competitive baristas do that
@VLAZ we use a filter/percolater, and double boiled moo juice :D
I was thinking of this youtube.com/watch?v=sR8M4zARBXY
essentially you can make vegan chicken flavouring. That only works when you add water
12:46
I got one of those 'automatic espresso machines' that grind beans and has a milk reservoir for any milk foam and it works great :D
13:30
@Tinkeringbell What's wrong with it?
@DavidPostill "It just isn't right" Not sure what exactly is wrong with it, but it feels clumsy/wrongly ordered or something but I'm not sure what I'd change/improve.
It doth not vibe
It feels... messy, unordered. Even though everything is ordered, it's just not right XD
13:46
@Tinkeringbell then disorder it
:D
I think it's just 'not square enough'. Due to space concerns, cups and such are stacked on top of each other, making for crooked stacks. I'm considering getting an extra plank, but then reaching in and getting something from the back may become more of a thing...
ahh
and they're not cups designed to be stacked?
define 'designed to be stacked'?
like they nest, so they stack neatly
They nest but don't stack neatly :P The bottom of the cups is smaller than the top so it fits, but then there's things like ears which make them topple over a bit
13:57
I mean nice nesting, not pigeon nesting
It's somewhere in between then I guess. It's also not as bad as pigeons :P

I cannot seem to find any information on how to draw a moderators/staff attention to applying a [status-declined] tag to a post. e.g., this post meta.stackexchange.com/q/383530/1242908 is tagged as a bug. However, following the link in the last comment takes you to a question which is [status-declined].
14:25
Finally tracked down the information I was looking for here: meta.stackexchange.com/q/150241/1242908 Thanks.
14:39
Glad we could help!
15:12
@PeterJames well ideally, we can just ask the source like I did now:
15:46
Always love to see people racing to answer zero-effort questions. I kinda miss the time when commenting with "LMGTFY" was a thing...
16:19
@SPArcheon source? Anything ticked you, or just random rant? ;)
@SPArcheon limited edition/time products tend to draw more attention, yeah. Just a common marketing technique.
(they'll just launch a new version after "shutting down" this one.)
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda You are quite wrong and didn't get it at all.
They launched a gacha game in japan (while shutting down the previous version that was far more popular). Game crashed with low sales and will be shut down in May.
Still, they are trying to launch the western localized version THREE months before shutting it down.
And in this case limited time means "you can't use the game afterward and all your in game units will be inaccessible"
I know whales on gacha games ARE crazy, but... whaling out on something you can only play for three months?
17:13
Whales? Somebody said big sea creatures?

3 hours later…
19:50
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact No.

Q: Why many posts here on meta still have links in the old format http://meta.math.stackexchange.com?

Martin SleziakLong time ago, the URL for this meta used to be http://meta.math.stackexchange.com - but it later changed to https://math.meta.stackexchange.com/. In 2017 it was announced that http-links will be converted to https: Network-wide HTTPS: It's time The current revision of that post says, among other...

@Glorfindel aren't there standard techniques for global replacements without affecting the active question queue?
20:21
@uhoh AFAIK only a dev can do it. (I'm Glorfindel's assistant)

Hmm, stars
Hmmmmm
(â“¿_â“¿)
20:44
@M.A.R. ok so the advice there would be to raise the issue (in a more general form rather than math-specific) in the main meta?
@uhoh I think the way it's been done more commonly is mods asking a dev for a favor, no need for a new post. I don't think a meta.SE post has much more visibility (for devs, I mean)

A: How to find and/or change a set of hyperlinks on a site?

Shog9There exists, internally, a search-and-replace tool for rewriting links. It's very simple; if someone changes their entire URL scheme, it's not much help. But for stuff like this, where we can simply cut out one consistent part of each URL and drop in another... It works pretty well. If you need...

Also, many URLs are rewritten while rendering from Markdown to HTML, e.g. http:// links to Imgur - those are automatically converted

With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
It's been a while since I dived into the details of that, so I'm not much of a help :)
@M.A.R. Star-worthy, but too many stars to be qualified.
20:50
well I could leave a permalink of this exchange as a comment under the math meta question, unless one of you want to leave a comment there
I left a permalink. thanks! (and thanks for the Don McLean retrospective, I was 10 when it came out)
21:12
@SPArcheon ah, OK, so that's just silly indeed.
