Hey Glorfindel!
@RandomPerson hi, what's up?
Hello
I am sorry for bothering..
I actually wanted to talk about adding the featured tag to meta.stackexchange.com/q/375749
I have already made multiple forms of requests and I suppose you must be knowing all of them
the issue is time is running out..
Now there's just 2 days (approx.) left for 23:59:59 UTC Feb 4th timeanddate.com/date/…;
featuring the post at the end of Feb 4th would be meaningless as the last date for feedback is Feb 4th.
I have seen some of them, yes. But we Meta mods cannot do anything about it ... and you've asked about that already:

Q: Rules which Meta Stack Exchange moderators need to follow regarding the [featured] tag

Random PersonI am curious to know about the rules which Meta Stack Exchange moderators need to follow before featuring a post or removing the featured tag from a post. For example, let's say that some maintenance post is posted by a Stack Exchange employee but they forgot to feature it. So can Meta Stack Exch...

Not all feature changes on Stack Exchange get featured, I expect this one to not have any negative effects.
yeah.. I know. Especially the quote that you have used "SE appointed us as moderators of this site. They didn't appoint us as arbiters over network-wide advertising."
(But I might be wrong, I misjudged the changes here meta.stackexchange.com/q/375081/295232 ...)
I saw that change on the Greatest Hits page, never knew that would have such an impact on the homepage ...

So, who will be handling my flag regarding featuring the post? Will it be handled by staff or MSE mods?
@Glorfindel Yeah.. we never really know things until we see them
@RandomPerson Community Managers handle quite a lot of flags like that on Meta.SE, also flags to get things .
But if you fear that won't happen until February 4th, you're probably right.
yeah.. that is my fear.
But if you ask me: this is not a 'critical' change that needs networkwide scrutiny by users.
I have learned my lessons after the question summary change, but again I don't think this change will break things.
Trust me, some of the staff has read your comments/answers/questions to feature this question.
I might be crossing my limits, but, if it is possible for you to talk to a CM (through private chatrooms) to handle the flag, it would be nice. I am not pressurising you. It's up to you to do it.
@Glorfindel oh.. thanks for that info!
I don't know they read it, I assume it based on their general activity on the site.
When you post a comment or answer, they get pinged.

So, I suppose that they are ignoring my request. Fine... I guess "ignorance is bliss".
Thanks for the help Glorfindel!
I hope I didn't kill your time and sorry for too many forms of persuasion.
@Glorfindel ok..
@RandomPerson or if their train of thought is the same as mine, deem it just not important enough to feature it.
@Glorfindel Is there any post in MSE which talks about how regular users can request a post to be featured? I read some post about how regular users can request for adding status-review tag but nothing about featured tag.
@Glorfindel ok..
If the train of the thought is same, they could have declined the request..
@RandomPerson Not that I know of. As a moderator, I would ping a friendly CM in the Teachers' Lounge; as a regular user, I would just post a comment with a concise but convincing reason.
@RandomPerson they visit Meta frequently, but not the flag dashboard
@Glorfindel Wouldn't it be nice if there's a post about this in MSE?
@Glorfindel ok..
@RandomPerson certainly, but it might already be asked?
Please check the
18:18
Wow.. the post is featured!!!
I didn't expect that to happen. Did you talk to someone?
no I didn't
You see: patience is a virtue :)
I certainly accept that "patience is a virtue".. but in this case, there was a limited amount of time.. So, I was kinda excessively concerned.
I understand, but I'd advise you to limit excessive concern to posts that really need to be featured like meta.stackexchange.com/q/370707/295232
I mean, some changes don't even get announced upfront...
Sure. Thanks for your advice!
@Glorfindel I went through all the posts.. It looks like it isn't already asked.
@RandomPerson that would explain why I don't know about such a post :) You might want to ask it, but: perhaps wait a week or so, to avoid coming over as too pushy?
18:29
I didn't expect my post to be deleted 😅
@Glorfindel 😅 ok.. I wish there was an option to schedule posts.. it would make life easier for me..
@RandomPerson that just takes a little programming on your side. The API can do a lot of magic ...
or, store the content elsewhere and set a reminder ...
@Glorfindel wait.. what? Is that possible? How?
@Glorfindel yeah.. that is kinda the manual way to do it.
I've never used that one, but I (read: my scripts) do a lot of editing through the API
I am not a programmer 😅
Anyway, thanks a lot for the help. You give me hope whenever I talk to you..
It was nice talking to you.
Keep up the good work!
@RandomPerson sorry, didn't realize that. Most SE users are - hence my assumption
@RandomPerson same here, thank you as well!

:)
Bye!
See you later!
