6:45 AM
@Luuklag Nice!
@Tinkeringbell look nasty, hope you're all fine there!
@Rob oh, the blue one. OK.
@Rob might be! Sadly no way to know unless I'll go to her place and ask her to show her tongue. While spending time in jail sounds like interesting experience, I'll pass.
:D

7:11 AM
Weird, spammer has legit accounts on other sites. Most likely hacked.

7:21 AM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Yeah, like I said the wind went in the right (opposite of us) direction ;)

7:59 AM
@Tinkeringbell glad to hear!

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard It also was in a different town so ;)

i'm sleepy..
and there's a meeting coming up..

Rob
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard If you make it there, after your wife objects to you propositioning other women.

8:15 AM
@JourneymanGeek a user for you to nuke if your here, see smokey above.
Trolls gonna troll

Rob
@MetaAndrewT. Wear these eyeglasses, and sleep during the meeting:

Where is @Bart ?

@Luuklag It appears someone has beaten me to it D:

8:31 AM
poor you
It wasn't david, he hasn't been seen for 15 hours
I guess you got to blame Mokubai
their the only ones recently active

4 hours later…
12:12 PM
so, just noticed I'm question banned on SO, but I seem to only have a single downovted (under 0) question there, and not sure how to get out of it...(got a couple other one that seem to be in the green side but still at 0 upvote, so i guess it was downvoted -> upvoted)
will formatting the downovted question I did repair this? (the one under 0 upvote)

@NordTheLoftyWizard There is no one magic way to get out of a question ban, except increasing the quality of your posts. I doubt that's something that can be achieved by something as simple as formatting.

@Tinkeringbell yeah, but that's what the help center mention at least...
and I can't "improve" how i ask question if i can't even make one

Are you sure you have no deleted posts?

@Luuklag nope, none (at least none I deleted myself on SO)

You could ask an SO mod to see if there are any

12:20 PM
@Luuklag where is that? is it a chat room or
I guess that's what I get for not using SO as much as Unix.SE :/

@NordTheLoftyWizard you could try that, or custom flag one of your own posts

@Luuklag that's an interesting idea. Thanks I will try that

The first is definetly the quickest, if you manage to find one willing to help
Better not go of pinging a bunch of them, the might not sit well with them

@NordTheLoftyWizard I know the help center mentions it. That doesn't mean it's a guaranteed way out of a question ban though.

@Tinkeringbell so what should i do then? wait 6 months or so like the help center mention it and be able to ask that one question that might or might not be get me out of this "ban"?
this is sad if that's the only way

12:24 PM
I just said there is no magic only way.
Yes, you should improve your existing posts but there's no guarantee that it will magically lift the ban.

@Tinkeringbell so there no solution then? (beside what the help center mention)

Yes, you should try and ask a better question in six months, but there's no guarantee it will magically lift the ban.

I'm not going to say 'you should do x' only to have made a false promise.

@Tinkeringbell yeah no, I understand that. And I'm thankful of your honesty too, just thought it would be more hopeful you know? (as in, different solution beside what the help center mentioned, etc)
at least I can do what @Luuklag mentioned for now and see. if worst push to shove, I guess I'd have to make a meta post, although that might either make me question banned on meta SO or go into downvote hell or something...

12:26 PM
@NordTheLoftyWizard Oh well if you want the stuff that isn't the help center, there's always sockpuppet voting...

@Tinkeringbell I mean, using a sockpuppet for asking question is a bit weird, but I guess I could use that as my very last card or something (if that's the last things to try)

No, that's the kind of stuff that gets you suspended... that's why it isn't in the help center.

oh
well good thing I thought it was weird from the get go then
guess I'll try formatting as you said and what Luuklag mentioned while I'm at it and see

@Tinkeringbell oh, lol. Or not, it's not funny.... anyone got hurt?
@MetaAndrewT. I'm sure you slept more than me. ;)
@Rob my wife doesn't have to know. :D
She barely knows what I do here.

@NordTheLoftyWizard if anything helps, there's no Q-ban on MSO

12:31 PM
@MetaAndrewT. sadly

@MetaAndrewT. I see. Thank for telling me, that's good to know :D
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard hey, at least there the downvote hell

@Nord are you still Lofty Wizard? :D

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard of course :D and I guess you're still Shadow The [] Wizard? ;)

@NordTheLoftyWizard downvotes on MSO or any actual meta site (not MSE) have no real effect, yeah.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard but it affect my self-judgment!

12:33 PM
@NordTheLoftyWizard Shadow first and utmost, there were few times I wasn't a Wizard. Very rare though.

I always then question myself "is the question I just asked really *that * bad"
(once i get a downvote)
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I see :o

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Not that I know of, there might be some people with pre-existing conditions that were bothered by the smoke? Dunno.
Nothing major :)

12:52 PM
Alright, think I got it now. Thanks a lot for the suggestion @Luuklag

1:39 PM
Anyone knows if this (meta.stackexchange.com/posts/5222/revisions) is tied to a rep threshold?

@Luuklag Well, I was able to edit my self-deleted answer here but a moment ago. So... Maybe?

@Luuklag for additional context: MSO - Can I delete my own post after undeleting it?. The OP has 8k reps on SO.

Rob
1:58 PM
Only self-deleted questions, everything else is OK: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/296101/… meta.stackexchange.com/questions/6347/… (for posts), deleted chat messages used to be allowed.

2:15 PM
Okay then, I rolled back the revision

@Luuklag OP updated the MSO with a screenshot of deleted question, case closed...

This is gonna sounds weird, but should/could I use the term Ad hominem (I checked the definition to be sure, though I already knew the term before) in a question, so that I don't need to list every possible reason/alternative to some [topic] or such?
I'm asking because it kinda sounds inappropriate to me, but I'm unsure
I mainly want to say that to prevent argument that I already can see coming based on what I'm gonna ask, eg: asking about egg recipe on cooking.SE and you can already guess someone will say something like "did you try checking online" or "do you even know how to make an omelette or other basic eggs based recipe?"
Of course I'm aware it won't prevent those argument from occurring, but it does have the possibility to save time on me and the other person saying those things, if they acknowledge I already know/I'm aware of what they would say

2:32 PM
If you don't feel comfortable using it, don't? :D

Oh boy. Fonts just changed again.
Text is now bigger.

@JourneymanGeek yeah, but I didn't found a shorter term to say what I described above, so it kinda feel just right but maybe too direct. (unless I'm just reading too much into it)
@Spevacus It is? on meta or network wide?

great, maybe now i'll be able to read it

@NordTheLoftyWizard Currently seems to only be active on Meta SE.

I kinda like this

2:39 PM
still too small on mso

if they'd sort out the monospace italics...

Reputation gains are now easier to see. SO:
MSE: '

nah, comments are still 13px on mse

Hm. That screenshot doesn't seem to do it justice.

Rob
Mobile is weird, if your reputation changes it may or may not show the total (underneath, without badges) until you leave or refresh the page

2:50 PM
Need rene to show real-live demonstration for rep change...

lol
Question title hyperlinks from the question lists seem larger. Comment text is still 13px as 🚽 said

@Spevacus oh, that's why I suddenly feel the titles look bigger than usual

The font size is now 1.30769231rem (taken from inspect element) which... Makes no sense to me. But it's larger.

@Spevacus maybe it's the same font but a different tff file? :P

I have no idea.
4

2:53 PM
naw
Unless SE suddenly decided to use webfonts

@JourneymanGeek I recall they did a CSS in SVG in CSS or something, so wouldn't surprise me in the least

@NordTheLoftyWizard It would be a good thing, but its not on the cards yet

@JourneymanGeek one can only hope...

question text is still 15
so nothing important changed

@NordTheLoftyWizard apparently further down the dev process

2:56 PM
The size 1.30769231 is... interesting...
interesting, as in, it's googleable

@JourneymanGeek I see. Thanks for telling me :)
@MetaAndrewT. TIL there still no domain troll/excessive domain parking for number based domains
btw, is it normal if "your post was undeleted" message in yellow appear, but your post is still deleted? (It's on SO)
does it take time to propagate or something?
the message was so fast, I'm actually doubting if this is was I saw hmm

3:12 PM
@Spevacus Whoever starred this: You didn't have to out my cluelessness like that D:

@JourneymanGeek well nothing too exciting, the same creationist etc. garbage that you relentlessly comment on. It's a big step up from zilch though
Jul 26 '19 at 6:50, by Journeyman Geek
I'm an idiot

nice

Rob
It's 17/13 - and not any of the more logical choices: PI / 2 = 1.57079632679, sqrt(sqrt(PI)) = 1.77245385091, sqrt(sqrt(sqrt(PI))) = 1.15383506785

@Rob yeah, I think it's 17/13*1rem (for whatever REM is)

Rob
3:25 PM
A band.
@MetaAndrewT. Relative to the root element: w3schools.com/cssref/css_units.asp

3:43 PM
@Rob LOL

4:05 PM
Quick question: If someone anonymous claims (off site) to be a serial voter on SE, is it reportable?

Not if we don't have any way to tie them to an account.

what happens if one claims that on site?
(asking for someone else, of course)

If they claim it on site, you can report one of their posts to the mods on the site and link to the claim, wherever it is.

4:12 PM
Nope.

I assumed I was going to come to a shitstorm on meta, but seems like I was too fast
So Joel got his wish after all and Stack Overflow is a unicorn

Is this gonna significantly change anything on SO, or should we be waiting for the Meta announcement to ask?

Yes, is the best answer atm

also interestingly enough, does this actually explain the ... strange behavior ... of the past two years'?

They will of course say that it doesn't change anything, they always say that. Though so far I haven't found a big reason to immediately distrust Prosus (never heard of them before)

4:17 PM
I think we'll be working on something for meta to see what questions y'all have. No timeline on that - as you might understand, we weren't able to plan for this since it was kept very quiet internally.

Prosus is obviously quite pro-sus
Wait the meta ping sound is different from other chats?

There's an unofficial meta question about this already: meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/408138/…

@RedwolfPrograms it is

@RedwolfPrograms The three different servers each have a different noise.

Huh, didn't know that

4:18 PM
@10Rep It's fun to see the score change in real time as people see it :)

@Catija I would have loved to see the faces of the lawyers and negotiators involved if someone had asked if you could share the meta announcement on the moderator Teams before it is official ;-)

I guess chat.meta doesn't get to enjoy the sound of lyxal's fridge :p

@RedwolfPrograms I guess I should post a note-worthy message that someone will reply to then ;)

@MadScientist There was nothing to see. I found out less than 30 minutes ago.

@Wezl if you want to hear the sound, here you go

4:19 PM
🚽

@Catija That was a hypothetical, and a kinda unrealistic one as most people probably know that this kind of stuff needs to be very secret

oh hi smokey

@Catija sheesh

ah wait, so was this like only discussed by like corporate/business ppl above what CMs knew about?

Yes, you expect otherwise?

4:24 PM
not really. i'm not too (*at all) surprised
anyway. i'm a bit confused about how SO/SE works in terms of business. does this only affect SO, or SE? are they distinct companies, or does SE own SO, or is SO the company that owns the whole SE network?
i never really understood this oops

I thought SE was the company name, maybe the article calls them SO because it's more recognizable?

@hyper-neutrino The whole company, both SO and SE.
it's one company

They've switched names a couple times, which is a bit confusing.

ah, thanks (i'd forgotten how weird (for me) the ping sound is lol)

Now I want to hear the chat.SO one

4:29 PM
@hyper-neutrino you asked my questions, now I'm disconfused too

@hyper-neutrino The company is "Stack Overflow" - the change impacts the entire SE Network. :)

@RedwolfPrograms I've got a chat.SO room for messing around in, here you go

@cairdcoinheringaahing "messing around" this is much more important stuff

Prashanth Chandrasekar on June 02, 2021
This morning, Prosus (PROSY) has announced its intention to acquire Stack Overflow for 1.8 billion dollars. This is tremendously exciting news for our employees, our customers, our community members, and for our shareholders, and I will share a bit more about what it all means.

Stack Overflow or the entire network?

4:35 PM
Entire network

Not a single mention of the rest of the network. *eyeroll*
9

But multiple mentions of Teams

@Mithical the rest of the network isn't worth anything

"Oh yeah and we've got 173 other sites tagging along, don't mind them"

No announcement on MSE, no mention of Stack Exchange Inc, no mention of any other site... but it's network wide!

4:41 PM
unless you already know SO is the name of the company i honestly would not be surprised if people think SO is splitting off from the network and was acquired on its own without the rest of us

> How you use our site and our products will not change in the coming weeks or months
So we have at most a year before the rest of the network gets kicked?

I'd love it so much if they just forked SE off into a separate nonprofit

@10Rep ... Chill, y'all.

@RedwolfPrograms They obviously don't care about it

I mean this did just get announced publicly.

4:42 PM
Please. It feels like there's a lot of assumptions going on here when this is so, so new. There's only so much stuff we can do.
Let us circle up and figure out how we're going to come to the community and do something that's focused on y'all rather than the marketing release that is the Blog.
4

The fact that there was no mention of the network in the marketing release kinda highlights that the network is treated as an afterthought, though, even when the whole thing is part of a billion dollar deal.

I see things went poof during dinner? :)

It's worth remembering that the company thinks that "Stack Overflow" = The entire platform. Yeah, it would have been nice if there was a specific statement about the network but in the context of people who write this, there's a definition that isn't the same as the one y'all have.

So...this company isn't even aware of 99% of the sites on the network?
2

4:48 PM
No. That's not at all what I said.

@RedwolfPrograms please stop it

@rene Just clarifying my (incorrect it seems) interpretation of that
Sorry if it seems like I'm being nitpicky or hostile, that's not what I meant

No, the point is that the term "Stack Overflow" means "the whole network" to the people writing this. In our legal terms, the whole corporation is, after all, called "Stack Overflow", which owns the entire thing.

The omission of a mention of the rest of the network in that blog post does not itself indicate that Prosus, Stack Overflow, Prashanth (the CEO), or anyone else has forgotten or does not care about the rest of the network.
6

The other thing to consider is that to the public "SO" is probably a familiar name whereas "SE" might raise some confusion as to what it is. Not sure though, I'm not at all sure about how well-known either is in general.

4:52 PM
@rene An SO in Dutch?

@Ollie Ja, dus pak je woordenboek maar ...

"An exciting day! @spolsky called me and let me know. Today's sale of Stack Overflow, most importantly, lets Stack Overflow continue as an independent site -- and also mints 61 new millionaires." - Jeff Atwood

Important lil' bit from Joel's post from ^
> "the most important part of this announcement is that Stack Overflow will continue to operate independently, with the exact same team in place that has been operating it, according to the exact same plan and the exact same business practices. Don’t expect to see major changes or awkward “synergies”. The business of Stack Overflow will continue to focus on Reach and Relevance, and Stack Overflow for Teams. The entire company is staying in place: we just have different owners now"
8

That's good to hear

@Ollie you can’t just cite Joel’s blog here without including this quote, “Where are the flying cars?” :D

5:06 PM
One potential concern which is more applicable to the "oddball" sites like Code Golf/Puzzling is that if Prosus is focussed a lot on learning/education, we're potentially going to get even less attention. I know there's no way to make a judgement either way on this, but its a concern expressed over on Code Golf

@EkadhSingh oops...

Rob
5:18 PM
Also important:
> "The transaction is expected to close by Q3 of 2021 and is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.".

@cairdcoinheringaahing let's remind ourselves again that they bought the company called Stack Overflow, not the site called Stack Overflow. The company that got sold will keep the same focus or due to having more funds available smaller sites will benefit as well. I admit most people love to only consider the darker outcome.

Most private equity firms don't take an active role in managing their owned companies. It's extremely rare to see an investment firm take management actions or veto actions of local management - they just own it and sit back and relax as they earn dividends.

Out of interest, would the current CEO stay the same, or does that change too? Not sure how this sort of thing works.

That's true. Admittedly, I didn't put much thought into how much that concern would actually make sense, but the fact is our community has felt undersupported for a rather long time and so that was a concern I immediately thought of. But yeah, even if Prosus is a learning site (which it seems like it's more of just an investor), it's probably unlikely to affect SO's distribution of resources, or if anything, improving it with more funds.

@RedwolfPrograms Probably a good question for that MSE post Catija was (hopefully still) planning.
1 hour ago, by Catija
I think we'll be working on something for meta to see what questions y'all have. No timeline on that - as you might understand, we weren't able to plan for this since it was kept very quiet internally.

5:21 PM
This is starting to look like a good (or at least neutral) change. Do you think they didn't use the phrase "Stack Exchange" simply to avoid confusing people?

33 mins ago, by Catija
It's worth remembering that the company thinks that "Stack Overflow" = The entire platform. Yeah, it would have been nice if there was a specific statement about the network but in the context of people who write this, there's a definition that isn't the same as the one y'all have.

Oh ok

So yeah, that's probably about as official as an answer you're going to get :P whether or not it was done to avoid confusing people can be left up for discussion, after all not mentioning it also creates confusion :P

@Tinkeringbell and here I was thinking lighting network was the most important site on the network :D

I'm very sad WindowsPhone.se is not mentioned in any announcement ...
@EkadhSingh lol

5:23 PM
"'Stack Overflow' = (the name of) The entire platform" is what was meant by that, right? I misunderstood it as meaning "'Stack Overflow' = (the only thing on) The entire platform" earlier.

@rene Well I'm glad they kept IPS out of it! Don't need the extra moderation load :P

@RedwolfPrograms yep

That makes more sense :p

@EkadhSingh For a minute, I was hoping it was going to be about lightning, the kind that comes with thunderstorms.... too bad :( Lightning is cool :)

@rene Perhaps everyone's secretly hoping Windows Phone will make a comeback :P

5:25 PM
Lightning.SE would be cool. I wonder what the SE designers could come up with for a design theme for it...

If I start an area51 proposal on lightning, anyone here willing to follow it? :p

@Tinkeringbell Those emoticons confused the heck out of me for a couple seconds because they looked so much like brackets and random colons :D

@Spevacus blinking stuff! :P

Shock... Then awe!
2

@EkadhSingh Hahaha now that you mention it :P

5:26 PM
@RedwolfPrograms VTC as dupe of Physics SE (or whatever the Area 51 equivalent is) :P

@user Something as cool as lightning doesn't belong on a site as stuffy as Physics :P

@Tinkeringbell (::)

Lightning is so much more than physics though! Close physics as a dupe of lightning!
3
Electromagnetism or whatever is just lightning but boring.

Waffles anyone?

I read that top starred line as "Software Developer Community Stack Overflow Sold to Mad Scientist Giant"
12

5:27 PM
Let's combine Physics.SE and Chemistry.SE as dupes of Lightning!

@curious Not enough stroop :P
Also... those look hard to chew!

@curious Those are waffles?

Computers use electricity...and electricity is lightning...let's close SO as a dupe of lightning!

And every tech-related site, I guess

You know it's allowed for sites to have a slight overlap in scope, right? :P

5:28 PM
@Tinkeringbell I'm afraid stroop won't make it any easier to eat :)

@RedwolfPrograms lightning is electricty != electricity is lightning

I somehow don't think 'How do I make my lightning iterate in java' will work XD

@curious How about lava? :)
@Tinkeringbell Why use Java when you can use butterflies to control the wind lightning?

@Tinkeringbell you need a LightningBuilderAdapterSupplierFactory :P

@curious Are they solid gold, or just gold-plated? Do you know? Please tell me it's 'art'?

5:29 PM
@RedwolfPrograms let’s close the entire internet as a dupe of lightning

@Tinkeringbell 10k Gold waffle earrings :)

@curious Oh! They looked bigger than earrings to me :D
But now that you mention it, I can't unsee it.

@curious golden (plated) waffle earrings would be such a cool thing for 250k rep

RIP the earlobes of whoever wears those

I'd get hungry and bad things would happen

5:31 PM
@EkadhSingh I know right!

What if... lightning waffles
3

Nah thanks. I don't like eating charcoal.

Waffles that release lightning?

Lightning that releases waffles?

@EkadhSingh to help you power through the day
2

5:33 PM
Waffles in the shape of lightning maybe?
lighning in the shape of waffles?

@EkadhSingh Beat me to it lol

There really needs to be a Lightning.SE now for these sorts of questions

@user not physics related physics

@user The good thing with that is that all of the low quality questions would be drawn to it, thus keeping the rest of the sites safe. Almost like a rod of sorts.... :P

5:36 PM
That actually sounds like a good idea. "Spam Lightning Rod Stack Exchange", anyone?

@user sounds like what software engineering used to be, and that didn’t end well

@user With a community bot named "Rod Stewart", count me in

5:58 PM
Congratulations on reaching 20k, @Ollie!

@Spevacus What kind of milestones are celebrated, when it comes to reputation?:D

@Tinkeringbell Hm. I feel as though 2k, 10k, and 20k are rather large steps. Beyond that... Eh.

what about negative milestones, like reaching 1k after having reached 2k

You're almost there. :)
No cheating with bounties, now.

6:09 PM
no worry there, i'll never use the bounty system again

Then getting 29 downvotes might be a bit difficult.

😆

Ha. You think him getting downvoted is why his rep depreciates.

All of my answers here are positive

I know it’s bounties, because of the previous conversation. However Kevin B said they’ll never use the bounty system again, meaning they would have to get 29 downvotes to get to 1k rep. (Or have an answer deleted of spam / rude or abusive)

6:23 PM
or, downvote 60 answers

@Spevacus Thanks! I particularly like this one because it aids in moderation...

@Spevacus Ah, so that's why no one seems to have noticed my 25k mark (including me I missed it too)

@Tinkeringbell That's the last privilege you can gain short of a diamond (although some might dispute that), so I think it's worthy of a drink:
sdc coffee Tinkeringbell

@Ollie brews a cup of Latte for @Tinkeringbell

and mine seems to be boiling.

6:34 PM
@Tinkeringbell Eh, you already get all of the privileges anyway. :)

@Ollie You have one too then!
sdc coffee Ollie

@Tinkeringbell brews a cup of Espresso for @Ollie

@Spevacus yeah, true. That's probably why it's not as noticeable to me either

I could use some of that coffee too

sdc coffee Luuklag

6:39 PM
@Tinkeringbell brews a cup of Latte for @Luuklag

Have at it ;)

@RedwolfPrograms Teresa addresses this in her answer - there's no changes to leadership.
I have a meeting in a bit but I can try to answer things.

oh no, not latte

@Luuklag brews a cup of dregs for @Luuklag

wait what o.O

6:51 PM
haha smokey's gone rogue
@SmokeDetector poof

@Luuklag Errr. Beep beep boop?

is this normal or is some human messing with us or is smokey actually doing weird things
okay so there is some human messing with us :p

o.o

@hyper-neutrino who would do that >.>

So anyone already did the math on wether or not SO was a unicorn investment?

What's a unicorn investment?

Well that is funding a start-up that actually pays of for the invester
they tend to be as rare as unicorns
hence the name

Usually "unicorn" is a private company valued at $1B or more, so by that definition, it was indeed.
Also I'm sure SO's early investors weren't investing at $1B+ valuations, so I'm pretty darn sure it paid off for them.

According to this link there was 185M invested
thats a nice return
10x profit

There's a bunch of asterisks to that, but that's likely true. For instance, if a hypothetical investor in the last round invested at a $2B valuation, they'd have lost money.
There are also equity stakes not represented by that investment: the founders and likely a bunch of the employees also have equity.

@RyanM true, seeing that Jeff claims there are now 61 new milionaires
I hope Shog is one of them

Wasn't the company's name Stack Exchange Inc.? Why is it referred to as just Stack Overflow?

@nobody It was changed back to SO at some point
or its something like Stack Exchange inc. trading under the name Stack Overflow

being named SO makes it easier to (ab)use SO's stats for marketing

I see. The legal page says "owned and operated by Stack Exchange, Inc. (“Stack Overflow”, “we” or “us”)". So basically, "Hi, I'm SE Inc. Call me SO"

@nobody Branding
Stack Overflow has much better brand recognition than Stack Exchange.

That is a readily used tactic all over the world
Here in NL we even have companies that say on their legal declarations: Company A doing buisness under name Company B

Good thing this is now deleted, before I get berated over my snarky comment: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/365057/is-so-bought-by-prosus

already gone ;)

I threw a flag then went to feedback from here, forgetting that Smokey likes to self-delete in this room where possible >_>

It did take your feedback
but won't take mine ;)

@Luuklag It apparently didn't, I went and applied one with FIRE.

ah okay

I should... probably just give this PC a workable FIRE access token on this chat server.
I'm just... So... Lazy...

I won't be able to ever get FIRE running propperly, as this system is under heavy scruteny by sys admins
I was able to run it out of the browser, but forgot how to do that, and honestly can't be bothered to do that over and over again every day
