erf. Just caught up with the scrollback
and I'm tempted to point out something, but... the conversation's done >_>
OH WELL.
@MetaAndrewT. aww
this I can probably safely opine on
that building a business, building a community and keeping a community running need different skillsets
and "I don't like the way this place is run" is rarely a great way to build a community
you need to work with love not hate, even if the hate seems justified
While SE was originally on the whole "anti experts exchange" thing, it was also " we like this model and can do better"

For no particular reason, I remembered this chart:
More specifically, the end of the curve:
Ah, blogs. On Carpetsmoker's site, Tired of Stack Overflow was quickly followed by It’s fine to be elitist, sometimes
> I came to the Go meetup to talk to fellow experts, not to be recruited as an (unpaid) teacher.

Ugggghhhhhh, very late morning.
Status: groggy

7:07 AM
@MetaAndrewT. Happy Friday! :D

morning
I'll take this opportunity to express my daily deep hatred for EDI integration

Only if I can do the same, but for driving ;)

7:25 AM
I'm feeling lucky better now! Friday for all of you too!

Released v2 of my autoflagger web app 2 days ago. Unlike v1, anyone can use v2 (only I was able to use v1 ;p) The url is autoflagger.os.sagarvd.me/home , built with Angular and hosted on firebase
Currently I log the SO user Id of the people sign in and the date time they sign in, in firebase database
Shall I make a log or used by people page to make the data public? Is there any restriction?
Currently the instructions are in home page itself. Shall I make it to a separated page faq
Hey @Cat is there a privacy restriction prevent me from making the user id and date time of the users public?

2 hours later…
11:59 AM
@OptimusPrime What users?

12:33 PM
39 messages moved to Chimney
4 messages moved to Chimney
@OptimusPrime uhm....

@Catija I'm authenticating Stack Overflow users in my web application and I'm logging the user id of each users. Since I'm using the API, There must be some rules that I should follow.

"We dumb data from db" - you mean dump

My question is, is there a problem in disclosing it publicly?

@OptimusPrime might be a good question for MSE ._.

@JourneymanGeek forgot to edit that. At first, the text was We don't flag sh*t based on heuristics. (You dumb) data from db
Later edited the sh*t part but forgot to edit this one.
At first, I don't have any idea to make it available to public in near future. But then I spent few more hours and implemented it
The initial text was, just for me. and it doesn't contain any instruction or anything.
@JourneymanGeek shall I ask one there? or in Stack Apps?

12:39 PM
@OptimusPrime hm, I'm not familiar with stackapps
wherever you think people who need that info can find it more easily ;p
which is the whole point of this exercise.

actually stackapps is the place to ask questions related with api and report bugs.

Oh, I know what it is
but I'm not familiar enough to tell you if its a better place

1:01 PM
Apparently, in (Stack Overflow) Russia, a question asks you?
Got this ad on ruSO, which goes to its Ask Question page...

1:58 PM
@ShadowTheCoffeeWizard gone
@ShadowTheCoffeeWizard gone
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog gone and gone

2:14 PM
A security researcher released unpatched jailbreak for iOS

3:00 PM
I hate the new scrolling feature in ios13
it keeps activating while i'm reading shit

5:56 PM
@MetaAndrewT. it could be worse
And yes, this is an advertisement for Ask Question button.

why the former employee got a network wide suspension for 5 years
Any idea @sha ?

@OptimusPrime They tweeted about it from their private account a while ago, but then deleted it

Oh. I didn't saw that.

410
wE DON'T talk abOUT SUSPensions

We do. Sometimes.
without disclosing the identity

6:08 PM
Basically, SE sent him an email to the effect of, "if you say anything bad about Stack Exchange, your account will be terminated". He then tweeted a screenshot of his email from that account, with the tagline "This [expletive] company." Problem is, there were several SE employees with access to that account.

410
Well in this case it's disclosed right away to anyone who knows anything.

I can't say for sure if that tweet resulted in the suspension, but what I do know is that it was deleted a short while later.

Can't say in that way coz there're lots of ex employees.

410
Anyway, I'm disappointed that convertcase.net doesn't offer "random casing" option.

As far as his losing his employment with SE, he didn't resign or get fired for cause; he was just affected by the November 2017 mass layoff.
Given that he was previously suspended network-wide but local moderators lifted the suspensions per-site, I can also imagine SE telling moderators not to do that when this new suspension was applied.

6:36 PM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog you mean, that twitter account?
If that account is suspended for telling something bad about SE, I'm totally disappointed with it.

@MonicaCellio It appears your migration ended up glitching up: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/333907/…

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog huh. Would've been nice if my migration had produced some sort of "tried that already" message.
Oh well; maybe someone will figure out what happened or maybe not. It's on hold on MSE, which is an acceptable state, so shrug.

6:52 PM
@MonicaCellio It redirects to a deleted question on MSO.
Moderators are exempt from migration redirecting; open it in a private window to verify.
@MonicaCellio I think the best remedy would be to ping an SO mod to ask them to reverse the deletion on MSO.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I don't think it's important enough to justify an MSE mod asking an SO mod to override the asker's deletion.

410
@sonic if you follow SE folks on Twitter, could you maybe make a list of their accounts? The one I sometimes look at is twitter.com/jc4p/lists/stack but it's ancient

@410 The user in question's tweets are private

410
Yeah, and not at SE anymore, so not about that user specifically.

With the caveat that I haven't really looked at the question in, uh, question... why remigrate? if the asker doesn't want it on MSO and it doesn't fit MSE, just close/delete it on MSE and call it good?

7:01 PM
Also the Roomba will do so automatically later, so I think that's the best outcome

410
Close/delete is good. I would call it that.

@AdamLear It's a bug nonetheless. If a mod tries to migrate a question where it was already migrated to and rejected, they should be warned of this fact and/or it should create a new question on the destination site rather than re-associating it with the previous attempt.

@AdamLear I didn't notice it had already been migrated and rejected once when I migrated it. I saw a closed question that clearly belonged on MSO and decided to help the person out.

@rene Voted; needs 1 mor

@MonicaCellio Totally fair, just thinking out loud about what we could do now. :)

7:08 PM
@AdamLear can you confirm that it was the OP who deleted it there? Any other interactions with the OP there?

@MonicaCellio Yes; it says "this question was voluntarily removed by its author" there.

I wonder why I didn't see the "rejected migration" banner. I saw "closed by (user list)" so had no reason to suspect anything odd.

@MonicaCellio Confirmed, and no, no other interaction

@MonicaCellio That only shows up on the destination site.

@AdamLear do you think we should do anything? Nuke it now or just wait for the Roomba?

7:11 PM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog will ping @sha ...

It's locked on MSE, so it's not going to get edited and it can't really be made on-topic there.

410
Locked posts are not Roomba'd either

@410 migrated posts are
@MonicaCellio Eh, either's fine I guess. Dunno why the user deleted it, but I guess we can keep it for now in case they decide to repost it organically

Migration stubs are deleted after 30 days.
And are locked by definition.
@AdamLear fine with me. My reaction to the whole thing is "meh".

410
@Feeds drishing. Nothing is really a thing until there's an ugly portmanteau for it.

7:13 PM
@MonicaCellio yeah, same here really :)

@AdamLear What are ways to fix the overarching bug here (not just this specific case)?

status-deferred

@AdamLear Mind adding that tag to my question, please?

I mostly just mean that it's not an issue we'd likely be fixing right now at all. but I'll throw [status-review] on it for now

That's great; I needed another question to keep myself as the user with the highest number of questions :)

7:19 PM
we'll status-review your position ...

7:42 PM
SE is down. Apparently caching is to blame

Is it me or are most SE sites down? Only Meta.SE works for me ...

meh

VrijMiBo at SE-HQ

seems fine to me

Oh, now I'm logged out

7:58 PM
Meta ELL works for me

Works for me but the rep and inbox indicator shows notification for items which I've seen already

M&TV works for me

@OptimusPrime Mine isn't showing my recent upvote :/

in The Meta Room on Stack Overflow Chat, 4 hours ago, by M.A.R.
Even bugs are elitist now.

I got 30 rep change yesterday and saw 30 in green and 3 in red for inbox.

8:01 PM
maybe you just thought you looked at it

At least the reminders for happy hour still seem to be working ;)

For upvote thing, I upvoted both Sonic's and Glorfindel's answers to the delete content question. Let's see whether they got a notif or not @Sonic

@OptimusPrime I got a green one

@KevinB No. If it's unread, it'll have a different background color.

8:04 PM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I just upvoted it. no comments. So green one is okay
And in my profile (votes section), I can see that Month : 3, Week : 2, Day : 2. So it gets updated realtime

@OptimusPrime same here 30 minutes ago; I even posted a bug report but deleted it since it's behaving normal for me now.

@Glorfindel Hey, you're pingable again :)

I should post here more often.

Looks like the cache server felt lonely and needed some attention

Server's hierarchy of needs:
Basic: electricity, cooling,...
Security: well, obviously
Belongingness: working network connection
Self-actualization: Skynet
> Building communities where everyone who codes can learn and share their knowledge. twitter.com/stackoverflow
So... how do I follow/friend someone on Stack Overflow?
Having 10M fungible userNNN accounts does not look much like building a community.

@410 You don't! We eliminate that kind of Facebooky creepiness for an improved user experience!
am I the only one who loves this kind of literalness? youtube.com/watch?v=_pyJlERCrJE

9:52 PM
@AaronHall you're not alone ...

@rene yay... i belong
