Ah, @JourneymanGeek glad you're here! You missed a closing parenthesis in your latest answer, it seems ;)

While its true that some parts of MSO are scary and some folks a little challenging to deal with - well, its what SE did for ages anyway, and probably would have encouraged some folks less to have taken an angle that played up how they did things in the good old days.
Don't know where you were planning to close that? :P

@rene Btw, I think the real cause of the outage was the summer. My experience is that although any important system work since decades in cooled rooms, on same mysterious reason, the probability of outages are still higher in summer.
@rene Maybe 1) somehow the increased power need of the cooling makes a lesser stable power supply. 2) And the people working on the systems, are not always cooled, making more bad or risky decisions. 3) there might be various routers or other devices (laptops, switches) interacting with these devices and also they are not always cooled.
the room spawned from sara’s post appears to have no owner, just made me think. maybe in the event a mod moves something like that to chat, they should stick around to act as the “room owner”, or appoint someone relevant, so that at least there’s someone there with the ability to move stuff to the trash/mute if needed... but that’s kinda complicated. maybe it’s fine like it is
