Outdated? Stack Overflow Blog now, if such a thing exists at all... because ironically, the site stackoverflow.blog is not a blog.

@Shadow Oh, lol. I assure you they definitely did not coin the word "gig".

user202362
dat small unicorn ...

user315433
Isn't it ironic that Jagged Little Pill was released 22 years ago?

"Ironic" by Alanis' definition, maybe.
I have this one specific memory of hearing that song in the car with my dad driving me up the entrance ramp to my grade school, and being very annoyed by it. I don't know what day it was, I remember nothing else about the trip, it's just this weird moment I've always inexplicably held on to.

2:03 AM
@JasonC How ironic.
Fun fact: there is a UT2k4 deathmatch map called “Ironic”. I haven’t the slightest idea why. That game’s map names are, as far as I can tell, mostly just random words.

The SciFi election page makes it pretty clear there were two deleted former mods. And this appears to be the only site with such history (Math brouhaha not counting).

Are questions on-topic for MSE, or should they be closed/migrated to MSO?
For me, it makes the most sense to move everything to MSO.

9:37 AM
@ShadowWizard as I said, without direct help from SE, the only self-contained way to store the hat data I can think off is to embed the info in the avatar itself as exif, assuming that info isn't stripped down by imgur at some point. Since I can't really grab the current avatar image data in the first place in order to decorate it ... there is no reason to even check imgur behavior.
The only option I have now is a separate site/service hosted somewhere that consumes data from Stack Exchange. But to be honest, I don't know if it is worth the effort to search for an host.

^That user confused me for a second. Why would Martijn Pieters call himself Orion Edwards ...
And where did his diamond go?
:D

user202362
maybe he is ashamed that he launched attacks on various innocent trolls, being a troll himself?

user202362
he wants to re-build his image with another name

@Derpy well, balpha has his own unicornify hosting...

@Telkitty awww, did he hurt your troll feelings?

user202362
10:13 AM
I can assure you that all his attacks on me were unprovoked :p

Of course, your innocence is beyond doubt ... serious face

trying to imagine @Bart with serious face
failing miserably
@balpha is the unicornify project still alive?

well it still runs (though I think it runs over the daily app engine quota pretty regularly)
I also ported it to Go: bitbucket.org/balpha/go-unicornify

@Bart heh, flag for avatar stealing... :)

so there's a commandline version as well that allows you to make higher-quality pics

10:25 AM
@balpha hmm... Looks like @Derpy wants to make something similar, just with hats. Is it feasible?
Hattify... :-D

How would it work? Doesn't sound very similar to unicornify from a technical perspective

11:01 AM
@ShadowWizard unicornify is an avatar service. It gives you an image to be used as an avatar. Even if Stack uses it, it uses it as a replacer for the avatar. Hattify should NOT replace the avatar - it should provide a second image that is placed above the avatar

11:43 AM
@balpha basically just trying to emulate winterbash since some lazy guys at Stack Exchange still haven't turned badges into hats for full year use :P

Hi
Where can I find a moderator to help me?

What do you need help with?

if you check my recent reputations, I think that I am victimized of a serial down-vote to several of my question and answers, which actually were sane questions and answers. How can I fix it?

An automated system takes care of such things: FAQ: What can I do about getting a sudden flood of revenge downvotes?

I mean my reputation on stackoverflow

> The automatic serial vote script should pick this up, but if in the unlikely event it doesn't clear them all wait 24 hours and should any suspicious down-votes remain flag one of the posts for moderator attention using the "other" option and explain what happened.

1:19 PM
Thank you! then I should wait and then flag one of them, if they weren't eliminated

Correct :)

Thanks, bye

@Glorfindel <technically> The survey is announced network-wide, and it does not require participants to have an account on Stack Overflow. They may be, say, Database Administrators or [serverfault] users who do not wish to participate on SO. </technically>

user315433
Oh, it's Server Fault not [serverfault]...

user315433
Yes, that Server Fault.

user315433
Going further, one does not have to have any Stack Exchange account at all. (The survey is also promoted via social media). So posting on MSE is the only option to report bugs, then.

It's not that I have a backlog, it's just that I get like 20 emails per day now which is annoying.

I use several dozens of Gmail filters. Things get labeled, classified as Updates, or marked as read automatically.

user315433
Doesn't help with one particular student who always sends emails with (no subject). Grrrh.

Alternatively, use the filter that just deletes everything. Email problem solved

If you're of the opinion that I should be suspended from chat, then you may want to consider flagging one of my recent chat messages for mod attention to request a suspension. I'd rather not be allowed to cause further damage than to continue to improperly counterflag messages. — bwDraco 3 mins ago
Can a CM or chat mod on the chat.stackexchange.com server take a look to determine if a suspension is warranted?

Suspend first, check later

@rene Explain?

So things don't escalate if it is in that stage

This is my account we're talking about here, and I'm not sure if I should see myself as a sinner...

I'm not a mod but as an RO I never kick users that ask to be kicked.
It looks like I would need a lot of context before I understand why you end-up requesting this.
I assume you can find a chat mod in Charcoal
And otherwise summon Shog here by pinging him. IIRC it is not in the middle of the night in his timezone

6:05 PM
@rene Improper counterflagging of offensive posts.

@bwDraco Use the "contact us" form. And, yeah, a lot more context would be beneficial.

In chat you mean, right? I'm reading the post and the transcript and your comments ... :(
I leave you in the good hands of Jon

I'm just on the fence. I kinda feel guilty, but I'm not really sure if one user's (strong) opinion that this particular behavior is inexcusable is enough to warrant a suspension.
in Root Access on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, 5 secs ago, by bwDraco
I think that rather than just pleading guilty and refusing to defend my statements in any way, I should continue to try to justify my actions.
@DVK: I'll be more careful in the future. However, please bear in mind that not every user finds the same content offensive. At least some of the messages in question were not deleted, and that the messages were apparently insulting or offensive in a veiled, rather than overt, manner, making them particularly difficult to accurately assess. — bwDraco 3 mins ago
DVK's statments don't seem to reflect community consensus...

user315433
FWIW, I ignored you here because this public self-flagging is annoying.

@zaq, please.
I'll just drop the matter.

6:10 PM
I'm not sure you quite grasp what "ignored" means

I'm aware.
My apologies for this. Back to regular discussion...
I'm not going to speed my demise get myself suspended simply because of an innocent mistake.

Also, I'm restoring this comment since I suspect you missed it:
Don't flag frivolously. But... If it offends you, please do flag. The folks handling flags are expected to do the same. That's how we resolve these things; there's no abstract measure of offense, it boils down to what the folks using the system find objectionable. On main, we renamed the flag to "rude or abusive", which is probably a bit easier to evaluate. — Shog9 ♦ Jan 6 at 15:09

@Shog9 I did see it.

IOW, don't harangue folks for flagging if they're actually offended by stuff.
the whole point of that post was that political discussion often offends people

Alright then. I cannot stand behind the answer because it is incorrect and will probably delete it.

6:14 PM
perhaps learn something and revise it?

I've removed the answer while I rewrite it.

@bwDraco I might have to reconsider my vote then, let me know when you undelete it.

The answer has been restored.
@rene cc

6:35 PM
@bwDraco thanks, I see no reason to change my vote.

OMG OMG WERE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT ISSUES? I LOVE ISSUES!
My cat learned how to turn on the bathroom sink. She also realized that I always rub her down with the towel when her head is wet, which she loves. So now she turns it on, like, hourly, sticks her head in it then immediately comes running over to me. Super annoying to hear the bathroom sink running in the middle of the night. Human successfully trained. I am just now catching on to her little ploy.

Problem solved.

What is going on here.

It's because you fed her after midnight.
