CogSci site is refining its target audience, something that Math never wanted to do.
reminds me of marketing courses I had done back in the uni days
Sometimes I feel like I'm ugly. But then I think of my brother and get over it
Granted, Math development was influenced by the existence of MathOverflow; having to defend its reason to exist, the site proclaimed itself very very inclusive, so inclusive you won't believe.
Maths is as powerful as an all mighty god who only exists in spirit and can't do anything physical, it needs a body to be able to accomplish anything in the real world. The best body it has is known as physics, but can also be chemistry and other disciplines
pure maths is as beautiful as masterbait

annoying, I was sitting next to my mobile 80% of the times but still managed to miss a couple of phone calls
and I literally can't do anything because I am waiting for 2 phone calls
if people were competent, I wouldn't be in such a misery
I wonder whether I should hold mobile in my mouth, in case I need to have it next to me and my hands are occupied
when I get a phone call, my Mac stops playing music and my watch goes crazy
I don't wear watches
5:42 AM
when I am away from the phone, I am usually away from mac too
I don't wear watches either, one's enough for me. why would you need two?
I need none coz I always manage to spill water on my watch

why do I need a watch?

convenience, I suppose
I am annoyed - dodo supposed to lodge an application to ausgrid to link the new NMI with the right meter for the new granny flat. It didn't do that, instead, it took the NMI from the old house and applied that. So the people from the new granny flat is paying for both houses, even though 2 meters were allocated for the old house and 1 meter were for the new granny flat. At first I thought I did something wrong so I lodged the application with ausgrid again.
It turns out, dodo as the retailer, is doing it's part wrong
but when I called dodo, they told me that they could not rectify the problem because I am not the account holder
after it told the account holder (people in the granny flat) that I didn't set up the NMI
confirmed with ausgrid, it was set up and ready to do since NOV last year
5:50 AM
Dodo are unreliable, we had a bad experience with them before as well
Dodo was just going around in circles and wouldn't admit that it has done the job wrong from the start

Apparently, at chat.stackexchange.com, I can time rooms I own out. o_o
Is that a new feature or something?
@zyabin101 Yes, it's new. Doesn't appear on the screenshots in the reference for room owners.
Someone should edit it in, I guess (not necessarily to the screenshots, to the answer).
I haven't created a new room in ages...
Editing in is not trivial, since the answer is supposed explain when to use the features, not just list them. When should a RO use a timeout?
I guess: where several people are shouting at each other, or their discussion is wildly off-topic to the point of being off-putting to other users.
4:30 PM
Oh, it's already explained in the long list of mod tools in chat, meta.stackexchange.com/a/271270
Should the part about timeout be copied to RO list, or moved there? Other tools that are common for two are not repeated, so I guess should be moved.

@SeriousHuman Speaking of which, two deletion requests are outstanding since the weekend. (I get that the Team is busy, but now that it's mentioned...)

@Andy Ugh. Hard cookies that fragment and throw cookie pieces all over are the worst.
And in my case, for answering Web Applications questions about GitHub's web interface.
If you are answering GitHub questions, I've got one that hasn't gotten a lot of love. It's not a web interface question though.
Because hardly any GH questions get answered on Web Applications. We don't have that many active answerers who are also developers.
They are on topic, but I think SO is a better place for them.
Bummer. Github support didn't answer me either beyond the automated "thanks for your question" response.
This doesn't feel like an SO question. It's not about a development tool. It's more about the environment the web page runs in. It's not server fault because it's not professional. Maybe Superuser? I have one question on SU and the answer it received pointed me back to SO.
6:56 PM
I get the feeling the question is so niche you'll just be told to go somewhere else.... if only github support were more helpful <_<

What's the longest timeout duration? 3600 succeeded.
couple weeks, I think?
100000 failed
maybe just a couple days. Been a while since I needed a long timeout.
That should really only be used for rooms like game dev... A few months might calm em down
7:22 PM
The maximal duration is 86400, failed with 90000.
I.e., one day.
well, that's disappointing / reassuring
Would freezing and unfreezing a room stop a timeout?
Emacs top user swag looks good.
7:45 PM
Observations: (1) freeze/unfreeze does not end a timeout; (2) room owners can see remaining time by opening the room in an incognito tab, which seems simple enough.
@Shog9 maybe mention explicitly that RO's can post messages in the room while in timeout? In case you need to tell more then will fit in those 100 chars?
> Once a message is entered and "OK" is pressed, the room will be in "timeout" mode: only room owners and moderators will be able to post messages; everyone else will see a countdown where the message input form normally sits
@rene the 100-char limit is mentioned more as a "don't write a book" thing than anything else.

Your thoughts on this suggested edit? I kinda feel it may be a bit radical.
OP used .44 Magnum ammo for energy comparison with an 18650 cell. The edit was meant to make it more technically accurate.
