I don't understand voting on some sites... This had +1, being a requirement dump and (correctly) closed by 5 users.

@sandwich It's because the score isn't properly aligned.

user315433
Yes, and the favstar cut off.

@Quill Hey, if you want to help with DevDoodle, I organized the issues a bit. github.com/bjb568/DevDoodle/issues/226 and github.com/bjb568/DevDoodle/issues/125 would be helpful and pretty easy to do.

@sandwich You don't know the number of times I see wildly off-topic posts on SO with +1 or sometimes even +2/+3.

1:18 AM
@bjb568 that sounds cool, I'll clone your code later and take a look

@bjb568 I'm just curious: how many people have visited DevDoodle in say the past week?

@hichris123 IDK, I don't have those stats.
It'd go up by one if you got a friend to join.

Well, I guess that's one way to be entirely honest about how many people use the site... "How many users do you have?" "Lots!"

Maybe a inhouse analytics engine might be a good idea
Listening to the Pixies is a great way to spend the last percent of your phone's battery

@Quill knowing bjb that's an even better idea.

1:22 AM
@hichris123 I would suggest GA, but IIRC he doesn't want foreign scripts
@bjb568 Do you have an MVC style setup going? I can't remember from the last time I cloned your repo

@Quill No, I have web pages.
@Quill Don't suggest GA.

@bjb568 Did you write the HTML scripting engine?

1:28 AM
@Quill I wrote scripts…

Okay

user315433
@hichris123 That's a practical question at least.

@hichris123 Where was that?

What was the freeform vote to close reason prior to "I'm voting to close this question because..."?

@bjb I'll take a look at the qa/tips thing later if you like

A: Did toddlers with guns claim more American lives than terrorism in 2015?

timIt depends on your definition of terrorism and your interpretation of the quote: is it about American lives anywhere in the world, or about death in America including non-Americans. For the purpose of this answer I'll assume the second interpretation. If terrorism only includes Islamic terrorism...

@yo' those are part of an SVG sprite sheet. So in theory as big as you'd want them to appear: cdn.sstatic.net/Sites/stackoverflow/img/sprites.svg

yo'
@Bart but there's a big issue with anti-aliasing, so it's important to know the resulting size... Anyway, I figured that 14px seems safe...

Anti-alias in vector graphic?

yo'
@AndrewT. on a raster screen?

What exactly do you mean there @yo'? It should scale to any size, no?

yo'
@Bart it does, but sometimes really badly, see e.g. the signature in puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/32248/…

12:01 PM
I guess I don't see the problem

I also don't find any problem with it (LCD 1080p), but it may be for some users.

@Derpy what code? If numeric, maybe the internal ticket number, e.g. stackexchange.zendesk.com/requests/58205
(58205 in that case)
@yo' well, that's an oooold version, try to update. Also, you see this one in good quality? upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/ce/SVG-logo.svg

@ShadowWizard actually it is an alphanumeric code.
But right now it is not my priority ^_^'

Yet again I am trying to have Costura.Fody work with Sharepoint

@ShadowWizard That one is completely fine. And I know I have an old version, but that's it and I can't really change it (it's not that old, again, about 2 years). And believe me or not, there's millions of people who can't easily upgrade their systems.

@yo' hmm... and when you view this directly, the badges are fine? cdn.sstatic.net/Sites/puzzling/img/sprites.svg?v=e930b06795d9

user202362
You know how in the Lord of the Rings, the Dark Lord Sauron in an earlier age created the One Ring to rule the other Rings of Power as the ultimate weapon in his campaign to conquer and rule all of Middle-earth. Not sure the ring actually worked, didn't he lose in the batter when his finger got chopped off?

user202362
It's very sad that the ring that can rule all other rings can't even rule a sword to not chop its owner's finger

@AndrewT. it's a copy paste from here.

user202362
also, can't dark lord just create like a dozen such rings just in case?

user202362
maybe he knew that the ring did not work at all!

2:13 PM
@Telkitty guess he could, but you must have a strong basis for a story, without making it impossible or too complicated.

yo'
@ShadowWizard when I zoom in, yes. But the rendering is bad when it's zoomed out. On the other hand, it's not worse than any other rendering of similar graphics, whether on web or not

@yo' so it's really weird. Only thing I can think of is some local browser or OS issue. Can't you try with Chrome, or on different machine? (even your phone)

yo'
@ShadowWizard I tell you, this is not a software issue, it's simply how the thing looks like in "low resolution" (by current standards I mean) screens, i.e., 3 yo machines

@yo' Curious, what's the screen resolution?

yo'
@AndrewT. 1366x768, 15.6"
Note that I work as a typographer and I'm 100% fine with my screen for the job.
btw, looks bad also on my workplace monitor with FF45 on Windows (1440x900, 19"), the point is, the thing simply does not look like a puzzle piece when it's 14px large.

user202362
2:19 PM
@ShadowWizard I have a better theory: poor hobbits, I think they were doped by Gandalf and took all the trouble to destroy a ring that could only create hallucination. And because of hallucination, the Dark Lord Sauron thought that One Ring could rule the other Rings.

yo'
(actually, it may be the rounded corners, which is ridiculous for a high quality puzzle piece, these have sharp corners)

@yo' yeah, the weird ratio might explain the problem. As far as I've seen, very few use such resolution.

user202362
but if that's case, Sauron must be a deluded dumbass, how could a deluded dumbass become a dark lord??

yo'
@ShadowWizard that was the most common thing for 15" sized notebooks in 2013, and my pixels are completely squared, so there's nothing weird going on.

@yo' well, you can try start a feature request asking to change the SVG to support such resolution (if possible at all, not sure) but don't build your hopes too high...

yo'
2:23 PM
@ShadowWizard no, the point is, you see, it does not look as a puzzle piece to me even on other screens I tried, including my 3-month-old smartphone

@yo' and here? ^
You see this as puzzle pieces?

yo'
@ShadowWizard no, at best, some poor attempt for the apple logo

lol

@yo' so it's matter of taste... feel free to ask changing it - or ask SE to hire a new designer. :)

yo'
even if I zoom in and step back to kill any screen rasterization issue, it doesn't get better

2:25 PM
It won't get better because you don't like the actual design.

Personally, I hardly see it as puzzle pieces due to its dimension, but it's only me.

yo'
@ShadowWizard well, they had nicely and neatly looking keys for badges, but it was requested to change this, so now they got these creatures
@AndrewT. obviously not only you

And then, there's MSE post about Puzzling and Workplace favicon being too similar
It's really puzzling...

yo'
@AndrewT. that's being solved on M.Puzzling, no need to raise it there. (Note that I went here because I knew here people better know the SE internals, but I would post the change requests on M.Puzzling of course)

user202362
!xkcd find fat horse

@yo' apparently it's been raised on M.Puzzling as a response to "new design" meta post, so, problem solved

yo'
@AndrewT. yeah, I know
Well, originally I asked "what's the number of pixels available for the badge" so that I could design a nice question mark for the badges. I didn't really want to get into this "my screen is a loser screen" stuff :D
now I gotta go, I teach in 30 minutes and I need a coffee beforehand.

@yo' thing is, there's no real answer for this because it's SVG so in theory, it shouldn't really care about pixels, as far as I know. :)

yo'
@ShadowWizard yeah, but note that Academia was shifting the badge sprites by "half a pixel" to significantly improve the rendering, so it cares about pixels ;)

2:45 PM
@yo' can't notice any change, but you think it's per-site and it's OK there, you can simply post in the meta site of Puzzling asking to make it like on Academia. :)

user202362
@ShadowWizard it does check on iphone ...

user202362
and doing it at the very end

user202362
wtf

@Telkitty well, it's probably only in the "final gate", when actually trying to add the question via the API. The site showing you the message in the Ask Question page itself?
If so we can, in theory, start feature request asking to check before actually submitting, like on the site, but from what I've seen, the team usually doesn't care much for such things. (i.e. making the life easier for suspended or banned users)
Anyway, thanks for checking!

@Quill SarcasmFilter.Status = FilterStatus.NotEnabled

When I wrote my latest bot, most of the time spent developing it was making it sarcastic

        'Can I pretend not to be?',
        'I\'m a robot, we\'re not alive anyway'
    ];
    return responses.slice(sarcasmFactor)[Math.floor(

@Quill Math.random() * (responses.length - sarcasmFactor) does not create another array just to find the length.

@sandwich no need to slice at all, imo... let alone twice :P

and if you have an empty responses array it'll return negative numbers

user315433
You're accessing its elements anyway, without checking for non-emptiness.

slicing an array's elements where they don't exist does nothing, meaning there's no chance for a rouge exception
I could improve the function but it's like three extra lines of code and I'm lazy
