The question quality will continue to decline as long as we continue to reward the bad questions with answers.
I'm willing to repeat an unpopular view here: We need to stop rewarding answers to bad questions if we want to stop bad questions.
Many bad questions on this site get good or mediocre ...

I'm a regular of both meta sites, a frequent of a chat room on Meta Stack Exchange, and a developer of a competitor site to Stack Overflow. I've read criticisms of Stack Overflow like that many times, so just using the tired "we should be nicer" rhetoric or linking to a popular criticism blog isn't going to convince me of anything. Stack Exchange has a very rigorous moderation philosophy that is at the core of their platform. Complaining about how the littering laws are too strict just to say later that you'd move to the neighboring town if it weren't so dirty won't accomplish anything. — bjb5688 secs ago
