I don't particularly worry about these. When you consider the vast quantity of "meta" comments left on answers and especially on questions, notes to the editors are little more than a drop in the ocean, a tiny bit of extra noise mixed into the whelming flood of "what have you tried?" and "can you...

@TheGuywithTheTux Nah, it's different. One is a hook to get people to look at your question, the other summarizes your problem after people have read the question body.

For example:

"Show a caret in a custom textarea without displaying its text" is read first, then after describing the difficulty in solving it myself, my core question is "Is there a way to show the caret without making the textarea's text visible?"

Yes, it should always be similar, but probably not usually the same.

I was looking at how the new top bar looks on every Stack Exchange and I wondered. Why do the Linux enthusiasts have a different top bar unique of all Stack Exchange websites ?

SE has a special agreement with Canonical allowing use of Ubuntu branding. It would only make sense for SE to be subject to certain rules regarding usage of those marks as well as requirements regarding the appearance and layout of the site, lest that trademark license gets terminated.

We're the only community I've seen that has an additional navigation bar at the top which contains nothing but links to an off-site company/organization website. Does Canonical pay StackExchange to run this site? Are Canonical employees part of the moderation team and/or helping to run the site...

Aside from the design and branding requirements, Canonical does not intervene in the operation of Ask Ubuntu.

The top bar is, as I said, probably mandatory as a matter of contractual obligations, but that's pretty much it.

Again, I am virtually certain that compliance with the Ubuntu brand guidelines is mandatory under the Canonical trademark license.

Now, this is speculation, but "reached out" may have been a letter from a Canonical attorney requiring compliance by a certain date.

I would not be surprised if the letter stated something along the lines of "you are reminded that Ask Ubuntu is required to comply with the Ubuntu Brand Guidelines ... we ask that you make the following changes ... you must include a navigation bar at the top of each page on askubuntu.com that is substantially similar to the one displayed at ubuntu.com ..."
