Q: Restarting the Election Nomination Phase for 2015 Moderator Election

Grace NoteWe sorta had a snafu with the election - namely we let the election persist into the election phase without enough candidates to actually have an election. The normal process, as happened over on Personal Finance, is to extend the nomination phase for an additional week to attempt to gain enough ...

user202362
wireless glass? combining optical zooming with digital one?

There is no such thing as digital zooming.

user202362
Digital zoom is a method of decreasing the apparent angle of view of a digital photographic or video image. Digital zoom is usually accomplished by scaling portion of the image data (usually center) to have same aspect ratio as well as pixel dimensions compared to the original image. Scaling is usually done by using interpolation algorithms and they vary in different camera models. Since new image is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, no optical resolution is gained in the process. Exception is when image sensor offers more image data than needed in target image...

> Your platform last time was based on being elected, then promptly going on a deletion rampage.
- ssube
Where do people get this crap from?

The.. fact that it happened? I wouldn't have said rampage.. but preetty close.

What?
1) I was never a moderator so I can't delete (I don't even have 10k), and 2) Why would I want to delete everything? That makes no sense.
Why am I being accused of something I literally don't have the power to do?
Makes no sense.

@Lightness i love you

I guess the election just brings out the crazies in all of us.

You're taking it too literally. He means you "rage-quit-withdrew"

4:59 PM
The fact that I deceased my usage of SO for a few days after I got cut off? Blowing things out of proportion much? …

@bjb568 Note the phrasing. You didn't do that, it was your platform last election.

@ssube Where did I say that I would do that?
That's insane, nobody would vote for me, and nobody would support it. SE would just take away my diamond.

@bjb568 Your nomination write up last round was based on deleting content you felt was not good enough.

@ssube Of course as a moderator I would moderate, yes.

@bjb568 I think the reason your platform went over poorly last election was that it was based on deleting, not improving. That's why I asked about that in contrast to your platform this time.

5:02 PM
Just as how now I cast close votes, downvote, flag, and recommend deletion.
@ssube If all I wanted to do was edit posts, hell, I don't even need an account.
Moderator privileges are specifically for handling issues much greater than lets just edit this to improve its quality and help people.

There's a big difference between cleaning up what has to go and pro-deletion attitude you expressed last election. If that's your policy now, that would be good to know.
If you look at my questions to the other candidates running again, most of them are contrasting between the last election and this one.

@ssube I'm pro-deletion in regard to the cleanup of what has to go.
I don't see any distinction between the two terms.

What has to go, in your opinion?

user259867
[conspiracy-theory] Sterling's nomination is a plot to make Madara's case look stronger. (At which it succeeds).

Sterling Malory Archer never uses theories. He drives air boats and fantasized about Burt Reynolds while having potentially autistic talent in counting bullets from guns.
He said, sarcastically.

5:10 PM
@SterlingArcher Well, that's a complicated question. The list is different between what should go in general, what I would allow others to delete, what I would delete if flagged with rational, what should be deleted by NAA/VLQ, what I would instantly delete.

These are modern questions. And modern questions deserve, modern solutions.

Meh. The benefit of SO is in saving time. Reading "Help" articles is the opposite of saving time.

@Won't It's not a discussion starter. It's just a blog post describing how we do a particular thing within the company. If y'all want to discuss anyway, you obviously know where meta is. — Adam Lear ♦ 18 mins ago

I thought for a few minutes that I would learn node.js... basically for long enough to install it. Then realized that for the kind of things I run (i.e., bots) I might as well keep a browser tab open.

@NormalHuman But node.js is the only real dev language

user259867
<-- not a real dev
