@Frank I mentioned you in this answer

12:45 AM
@bluet Ok

i know how you are like the only such user on SO! just givin props where they do

@bluet Correct. Now I'm like the only SO user with no posts but comments, or any edit rep, that has the electorate badge also. There is one other, but he has 'please delete me' in his about me
Which would be this user. He and I are the only 101 rep users who have 0 rep gain and 2 gold.
@bluet In the answer, you said I haven't left any comments. Actually, I think I left about ten pointer comments, under naa's which were then deleted.

@Frank i see, not going to worry about that technicality

yeah not really important
@bluet I wonder if that user knows about this query for auto-delete comments

1:05 AM

Yay, I get to use "the Tavern" in an English essay!

@hichris123 make sure to state that it's not a "real" tavern or else teacher may call your parents

lol it's from a book

@hichris123 nice

I do like that tho.

@hichris123 I recall a bar (located near a university) which was named "The Library", so that students could honestly tell their parents where they spend their evenings.
6

lol
That's perfect.

"Night at the library"

@hichris123 Here we have motels called "The Office", so...

ohey, SO design change
when'd it roll out?

user259867
1:44 AM
My guess: very recently, since nobody said anything on Meta yet.

user259867
ExpressionEngine design rolled out yesterday, but this is not necessarily related.

@bjb568 A few minutes ago.

noice

+1 for new design, since it uses proper color for links, no excessive whitespaces between comment... umm, what's the rest of the changes?

^ that. :P

@AndrewT. Page width 1000px instead of 950px

anyone using 1024x768 see a horizontal scroll bar?

@AndrewT. The buttons are all bright blue! Slightly disconcerting at first, but in general the new design looks great

user259867
@Braiam No device, but setting 1024 width in Firefox "responsive design" tool creates some horizontal scrolling.

@Braiam 1024x768? Ouch.

SR is going to be tough to design for :P
because yes, we're gonna graduate.

user259867
Too many blue sites already.

Since it's earth, it should be brown.

Or that too.
I was thinking the sky.
Or water.

@Undo ohhh

2:05 AM
Do I have enough stuff open? :P

@hichris123 no
you don't even have Atom running

But I'm using 9.5 GB of RAM!
(to be fair, 6 GB of that is the VM, so...)
@Undo I don't really like Atom.

Me likes

/me uses whatever is easier to use at the moment

user259867
@Braiam This may even be a bug. There is no need for left-right padding on #content, it's just empty space. They set padding to 15px all around, so adding it to 1000px width results in 1030>1024.

bjb568 I think this may be off-topic because I think many things, but what's that have to do with anything? The whole thing uses weak language. "appears to be off-topic" is much better and concrete. Roll back to the old version!

Q: Fonts while viewing stackoverflow appear strange in google chrome on Mac

gabblerThe fonts looks great until this morning, the font lose its bold style as you can see in the pictures, it used to be bold and now it is tiny, and plus, all code blocks in the pages looks smaller, I don't know why. I captured the first image which has bold font as it is a web page that is opened y...

Why did SO just 503 for 30s?
It wasn't even a proper down for maintenance message.
It was just a blank plain 503 page.

3:15 AM
it's awful on desktop mode lol

Probably looks like ducks on inversion at home.

That color of blue is the worst color for reproduction on my display and all I've seen.
It looks like there are horizontal lines thru it.
Subpixels or something.

I like cyan. Or darker blue, since inversion does well
Maybe I'll write a userstyle.

well, I think orange is the complementary color of blue
I guess someone is using color inversion when designing the page.

user259867
I think that's yellow?

3:18 AM
Dark orange is outrageously ugly, @AndrewT.
It's not even golden, it's just, ugh

@AnnaLear We totally need the bot for that in here.

Yay, going to bed early, homework delayed to 3-day weekend.
But wash of parasites first!

user259867
3:38 AM
@hichris123 Speaking of bots. A thing that has worked well for me is identifying new users by their IDs (which websockets provide). My script keeps a list of maximal userIds for each site, which is updated every time the maximum increases. A user is considered new if their Id > max -10 (or some other arbitrary offset). The benefit of doing this preliminary step is that one can be more aggressive with detection without generating a ton of false positives.

I feel like my votes don't have as much weight because I'm used to these giant voting buttons on SO.
And now they're pretty tiny.

Oh god
The tags are... orange
Everything is orange

@AstroCB I was in a somewhat similar position on meta.Math: tons of points, not enough answers. Solution: go through the list of answers:0 [discussion] posts, leaving something as an answer. Although for 111 that might be difficult.

Is there a name for the design principle that a given construct should only do one thing?

single responsibility principle, you mean?

Isn't that for classes?
From SOLID
In object-oriented programming, the single responsibility principle states that every class should have a single responsibility, and that responsibility should be entirely encapsulated by the class. All its services should be narrowly aligned with that responsibility. The term was introduced by Robert C. Martin in an article by the same name as part of his Principles of Object Oriented Design, made popular by his book Agile Software Development, Principles, Patterns, and Practices. Martin described it as being based on the principle of cohesion, as described by Tom DeMarco in his book Structured...
