It is not homework, just trying to learn some code. — Jefferson Amadeus Quetzel Viva 7 mins ago
That's not code...

@Jamal Damn someone answered that in the comments
And also, sure it is. It's binary, isn't it?

I just see an upside-down triangle of numbers. Or maybe that is Python...

@Jamal Perhaps.
It's not binary, not divisible by 8
Perhaps assembled assembly?

Would VTC, but I have one rep.

@bjb568 Can't you use your other account?

If I could sign in, yeah.
To sign out of bjb568@gmail, I needed to go to /users/logout, I guessed the URI from a meta post. Obviously, a "log in" or "log out" button is impossible. Instead, there's the terrifying "account list" which I think merged the accounts in the first place.
@AnnaLear Uh... I have an MSO account 2888561

Hi guys

Hi

need a help. over the past two days I am noticing that the Tags count in my profile page is not getting updated. Should I post about this in Meta (SE/SO) or should I use Contact Us option? any advice please.

@Andy Oh I actually did find a way. There was a [ Lookup a user] link somewhere in the ACP that took you to a page where there's a bunch of different fields that you can earch by, and one of them is IP.
One of the users I gave admin access thought it'd be fun to edit the stylesheet and change a bunch of colors, and I had to figure out who it was. xP

4:32 AM
I don't really know if this is a problem across all users or only my profile.

@Harry Meta; then it gives the entire community an opportunity to respond if somebody has an answer.

thanks @JasonC. will do :)

user163250
5:20 AM
@Harry this is a known issue. There should already be a number of questions about it over on Meta Stack Exchange or Meta Stack Overflow.

user163250
It has to do with the fact that Stack Overflow has a lot of user tags to process (or something) so there is a big delay.

user163250
There was supposed to be an update a few months ago that improved the performance back to a daily update, but maybe things are slowing down again.

user163250
As for another topic, Stack Overflow tag wikis can often contain a lot of useful information, so why don't they get better page rank in Google search results?

Your mom has a lot of user tags to process.

user163250

user163250
5:23 AM
@JasonC :P

user163250
So the Git tag wiki doesn't actually show up in public search results unless you add "tag" to the query.

user163250
Which is a bummer.

user163250
Even more useful though are tags for more specialized Git topics.

@Cupcake Are they ever the best source, though? I'd imagine that in most cases, while the tag wiki does contain good info, the results that do show up would be even better. I dunno though.
Incidentally, I can't stand when people say "I'd imagine" and I hate myself for succumbing. I actually do imagine that. It's not hypothetical.

5:34 AM
isn't this too-broad?

@DroidDev Yeah or unclear; to me it is unclear.

@mods tag score updation seems not working. Please have a look at that.

Can we have this for a close reason:

@Cupcake: Thanks mate. Noted that while trying to create a question and aborted creating another one :)

@JasonC If you post this as request on meta, I'd vote for it

5:47 AM
@JasonC Where did you get this.
@DroidDev you mean downvote..

@AvinashRaj You don't know about the hidden "crap" close vote? It's right below "facepalm". You might need more rep to see it.

hidden "crap" close vote?

@AvinashRaj lol, no an upvote, I'd even request other users to upvote it

is this implemented in our site?

@AvinashRaj Yes, it's on all the SE sites

user163250
5:51 AM
@Harry go ahead and search if anybody's asked about this recently, because it was supposed to be fixed.

@AvinashRaj Yes

user163250
@Harry if no one has asked about it in the last couple of days, go ahead and ask about it again on Meta Stack Overflow or Meta Stack Exchange.

user163250
MSO has no problem updating user tag scores, so it must definitely be a scaling problem with Stack Overflow.

@Doorknob really?
meta link plz..

It's under the "other" menu
Do you see that option? Maybe you need more rep

5:53 AM
how many reps did i have to earn?

I'm not sure; I think it's around 12-13k

is there any meta link for the above mentioned feature?

Umm, probably, you could try searching for it
There's a few references to this reason; for example:
+1 for Crap is crap and gets closed as crap.JNK Jun 30 '11 at 13:41
But I can't find the post that explains it in its entirety

@AvinashRaj It's 12.5k.

let me check the privilege..
OMG it isn't appears on mine..

6:00 AM
@AvinashRaj It should; you may want to ask on meta, they might be A/B testing something?

let me check this on AU.

Hm that's kinda strange, it's been there for a while. You're at /help/privileges right?
I heard about some recent help center updates too but they were pretty minor, but maybe something is interfering or cached weird or something. I dunno much about it.

yep.

Lol, it's always caching :P

I'm not talking about caching. I'm talking about weird caching. It's an entirely different concept.

6:03 AM
is this feature implemented on Ask Ubuntu?

Yep; all SE sites have it

@Doorknob Are you sure AU has it? I thought "facepalm" was just generally implied there.

Good point; maybe I'm missing something. I still can't find the meta post on it, but now that I think about it I do remember that it was disabled on only a few sites.

it isn't...
Grrr :(

6:05 AM
But other than AU and a few others (Apple, I think), it should be there

You must've touched the Forget-Me-Knob.

@AvinashRaj @Doorknob Oh yeah, it is there.
I don't have it yet though.

There should really be some documentation on this... I still can't find that meta post, but I'm sure it's somewhere
I remember reading about it
Maybe it was a blog post?

@AvinashRaj If you do file a bug report on MSE just remember to include your browser version. I hate when people leave that out.

Oh, what happened to mine...

6:09 AM
This is serious bug, you should post it on MSE @AvinashRaj

Meh, it's probably just caching. It'll probably appear within a day, at most

you mean, i have to wait for a day..

@AvinashRaj I dunno man I think you've reached the limit of knowledge about it in this chat room.

Yeah, it's a relatively obscure feature. In fact, I think it was introduced just recently

Q: No information about newly implemented 12.5k privilege on mine

Avinash RajI think a new privilege to close a question as crap was introduced. But it isn't shown on my system. I'm running Ubuntu and my browser is Firefox version 28.0. Privilege page seems like this on mine: On others: And also i have checked Ask Ubuntu privilege page. But there is no info about 1...

@JasonC

Some people think it doesn't; they're probably having the same issue as you

This question appears to be off-topic because it is about a doctored screen capture of a feature that doesn't actually exist. — animuson 3 mins ago

@AvinashRaj It does but I really don't know much more about it, my best guess is still more A/B testing.

@JasonC could you post this i.snag.gy/WwkLL.jpg question link?

@AvinashRaj I have the link, but it's deleted. (Another feature of the new "other" reasons is that they hard-delete questions, so even we can't see them.)

6:30 AM
@AvinashRaj I can't it was hard deleted.
Oh Doorknob beat me to it.

i think you people are playing with me..

I think questions closed for those reasons get a fast track to hard deletion. I remember it was some inane question about running jQuery plugins in vim.

People keeps saying this doesn't exist... :/ It must be A/B testing; that would explain why some people seem to just not see it

Oh, done ;p

@DroidDev Haha, on second thought, I think that feature request would get downvoted to oblivion.

@JasonC automatic

@ShadowWizard Heck, I'll report me.

@ShadowWizard Why don't you use jQuery instead?

@rene I plan to ;)

@ShadowWizard Lol oh 7 years old. I misread that as a "7 year old's". Like, a little kid who made a web site.
Then I proceeded with a tasteless joke.

LOL
At 7 years old I only wrote in VB. Think it was QuickBasic or GW-Basic

Me too! My first program was Applesoft BASIC, and I stuck with BASIC for a very long time. Then there was that whole phase of writing programs to screw with AOL in VB, which was actually a great learning experience for Windows development.
QuickBASIC was great; and they had the banana throwing game for a demo.
And the snake game I think

@JasonC yep, I copied the snake game from the book, still remember parts of its code.

11:29 AM
@ShadowWizard so, you want to tell me you crammed it ^-)

You've got to love broad statements like this
LINQ is a horrible choice for high-performance applications. — game development germ 4 hours ago

that's why it should be possible to downvote comments

@Bart but he got a point. LINQ is meant more for simplicity, not for efficiency. Of course it can be both, but...
@Stijn we can, it's called "flagging" ;)

@ShadowWizard I'd first establish then if you're using LINQ in an actual high-performance part of your application.
That comment now basically states "don't use it in games, ever". Guess what, I've made pretty decent use of it in exactly that situation. But yeah, not on every frame.

@Bart luckily no real high performance applications for me and all those I know are written in good old C++

I keep switching between C# and C++ at the moment. The confusion that causes me each and every time is laughable. :D

12:33 PM

I've posted two comments here: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/237342/…
Please flag the first one (A) as "other..." and the second (B) as "too chatty", and then report back here.

1:26 PM
Done, I flagged both.

Done.

Thanks, @ProgramFOX and @DroidDev. Let's see if we can get at least half a dozen flags on each, that should hopefully be enough to get some results.

Test comment B is gone!

Yo!
lol

o_O Well, that's a result, all right!

1:30 PM
Now we should wait for some other votes on Comment A, because it might be that it takes more 'other' votes than 'too chatty' votes for a comment to be removed.

(Flagged both)

but one is already removed, which was the second comment you flagged @bjb568?

@ProgramFOX: That makes sense. Also, I just realized that the comments contained the word "accept", which may be a speedy deletion keyword. Still, both of them had it, so the fact that only B disappeared is still a result.

@DroidDev I flagged the test comments. The delay of posting was because I was reading the answer.

@bjb568 Oh! you read it all!!!
I just read these long texts like one is only looking at photos in newspaper

1:35 PM
@IlmariKaronen I think 'other' votes count as delete votes. I flagged a comment on SU once as 'other', and it was immediately gone.

until I find them extremely interesting

A possible reason might also be that the comment had a typo, which made a word a swear word, so I have no idea whether it also counts as a delete vote on non-swearword comments.

user image
7

@ProgramFOX: Um... where's that typo? I don't see it, but then, I wrote it myself so I'm probably blind to it.

@IlmariKaronen No, I was talking about the Super User comment I flagged.

1:41 PM
Ah, I see.
Yeah, "other..." flags seem to auto-delete comments with the words "accept rate" in them, so it makes sense that swear words would have the same effect.
