@rchern Concur, especially since most messages are only temporarily editable

Feature request: allow the chat notification bar to be clicked anywhere to dismiss rather than clicking a single spot way on the left. also, how about hitting escape to clear it?

@ChrisS That's not a bug. It's by design. It will match the first 3 and up. If you want to target someone use the reply feature. Which is what it is there for.

@ChrisS Which is correct since you match the first 4 characters of @Chris. So therefore if there is 4 Chris's they will all 4 get the notification.

@ChrisS Without the reply to feature the system has no idea how to match it any other since it does a wildcard match

But it's not a bug. It's been like that since implementation and the reason for direct reply functionality.

Q: Stack Exchange Inbox Bug

I checked my Stack Exchange Inbox (drop down list) just now and it mentioned three messages for me. Two were legit - the last was this one on The Tavern which was another Mark.

@ChrisS I think in the last week is reasonable personally, on the assumption that there's only going to be so many accidental notifications anyway.

Feature request: If a link that would normally be oneboxed is posted as code (ie, with 4 spaces), don't onebox it.

Useful if you're trying to show someone the correct way to onebox

Your feature requests really get boring. Either they're crystal clear "yes of course, we should totally do that", or they're "meh, whatever". Can't you request more stuff like /me or something, which leads to heated discussions?
