@Bart Ah, that sounds cool. Rosetta Stone is notably not free. But it does have some cool little games. I also like the "immersive" approach - English is never spoken in any of the lessons, every new thing is learned through pictures, audio, and context.

So you never get "Hello = Hola." Instead, you get, say, a picture of two people shaking hands, and a sound clip of someone saying "hola."

I requested to delete like 4 or 5 accounts, and all of them have been deleted except the User Experience. Did I make a mistake by sending an email for each one? A week or two ago I saw a tweet come buy of a guy saying "Banned on SO. If I'm not allowed to ask questions, how am I ever going to learn how to program?" .... sure, programming only exists since 2008. People had no clue what they were doing before that.

@Bart it seems the level for people leaving school is dropping over the years, at least over here. If it doesn't come easy people quit

That's the same here as well @rene. We're giving some classes at universities and highschools ... I have yet to find any student we would actually hire.

@rene probaby not that many, since the younger generations don't seem to use customer service as much as the older gens

if you ever worked customer service in the last 10 years, you'd probably see that the older people will more often than not think they own you, since they are the customer and you are the employee

they don't understand that you, as an employee, aren't the owner, that you are working for a corporate beaucracy that gives you very little power to do anything, and most corporations actually force their employees to follow scripts

point being, that the younger folks can generally take a hint that they should bug off, whereas the older folks will rant about customer service, blah blah blah. . So you have to repeat the same thing to them , that you can't do what they want.

Obvoiusly not saying this is the majority of older folks, but when you get bad customers, they tend to be older, and they don't understand that the world is a differnet place now

I'm not sure if I completely agree with all of that...I simply tell the truth when I handle first-line calls. And if that is a customer lost for my company, so be it.

@rene Yea, sorry for the rant. It's a topic that involves the workplace, human rights, politics, and more...so not a good fit for this chat :) Your comment just gave me a flashback of my horror days in customer service.
