man LINQ to SQL is slow ... I just spent all morning hand coding some performance critical code ... great for easy stuff ... but it bites you hard at the end
I can't remember what feature it was, but there was something in chat where L2S wanted to do 25k reads. Cranking it manually with some clever TSQL got it to <200 reads. Even then, though; still useful for filling the objects etc.

I actually have a meeting tomorrow to talk about another issue from the same vendor I mentioned ^^^. They want me to join 2 sets of data. Without a primary key. With duplicates that exist. Even doing combinations to try and match up the data won't work.
@MarcGravell I think it's semi-colon separated. In any case whatever your separator is you've got a problem if there are carriage returns in your fields...
Are there situations where a question is off-topic in (say) SO, would belong to (say) SU and yet you'd rather have the question and not have it migrated?
Not dealing with one right now, but I've had to think about this for plenty of questions.
Where there's absolutely no response from the OP — even after a few hours — in terms of what code he's tried using, or details about whatever problem he's having getting things to work, etc. Like, just a generic error message or "it doesn't work help me plz" kind of thing.

quick question, how do I insert a newsgroup link "news://news.blah..." to a SO Answer so that it is highlighted as a link? It doesn't seem to work unless it starts with 'http' ?
