@Tinkeringbell Was the room Moderator Election Revamp Working Group Chat abandoned? It is close to 14 days of inactivity, so it might get frozen.
I have just mentioned this since I saw that you used to keep this room alive.

@Martin AFAIK, we're waiting on what Spencer described in the last message there. I didn't abandon it, I'm just horrible at remembering to unfreeze/keepalive rooms.
Thanks for the response!

@Tinkeringbell Still planning to. I am waiting for a more detailed review from a PM before bringing it to meta.
Oh sorry, the ones before that:

Got a small update. The product read through it and didn't ask us to make any changes. Their next steps will be to have a PM and review it in details to estimate more clearly how long it will take to implement and those kind of things, then we should have an idea of when they will start working on it.
I've just replied to those asking if there were any updates ;)

Clownery is Magic!
Wonder what, I mysteriously got a downvote on my (correct and accepted) answer, how strange. I really can't figure how that could be. Surely this can't be about me mentioning that moderation idiocy here, right? Just a unfortunate coincidence.
7:57 AM
@JourneymanGeek .... next time close this as a dupe of this, not the announcement post. You really confused me there, lucky an user mentioned a previous post by the OP, otherwise I would have cast a reopen vote.
I don't want to close it again :D
But
better? :D

Just want to dump this as a self-reminder: Movies.SE will be re-accepting ID questions. Some MSE posts might be affected.

Random rant of the day. I hate ebay and I will celebrate the day a meteor hits their data center and they shut down
10:11 AM
I don't think I've ever bought anything off them :D
@SPArcheon-onstrike What went wrong?
10:29 AM
@ElementsInSpace nothing specific, just being salty at Genshin and that tangentially reminded me eBay will never shutdown fast enough.
sometimes eBay is good
@SPArcheon-onstrike to be fair, you're always salty at Genshin
@JourneymanGeek Are you sure you are thinking about the correct person?
I'm pretty sure you're generally salty at gatcha games
I am quite rarely salty as Genshin by itself, the only issue I have with the game most of the time is that it could have been a far better game if gacha never existed
I am not a fan of the gacha monetization scheme, but that is a given thing, and not something about Genshin alone.
Actually, at least Genshin is less predatory that other games like the One Piece gacha by Bandai.
you CAN play Genshin for free, never buy anything and still get quite the amount of content and fun.
There is no place in the game you NEED to buy characters to progress.
alas, this has nothing to do with why I am salty today.
The actual reason is that Genshin never made a single Melusine figure available since they were added to the game and they are totally adorable.
Now they do a collaboration with KFC to give out 4 very well made toys with their kid menu...
AND THE THING IS CHINA ONLY.
[assorted angry hissing sounds]
10:36 AM
See, the singaporean solution to that would be...
to fly to china, and get it
But we are absolutely mental like that
@JourneymanGeek Go there, buy one, send it to me, I'll give you a bounty on Meta as a thank you.
I can only hope that the same contact that got me the Dark Magician Hello Kitty manages to get their hand on these too.
.....
I have a mental image of this going somewhat like a drug deal
@JourneymanGeek it is a anime convention deal... so probably a bit darker and more insane than that.
But who wouldn't want a cursed Yu-Gi-Oh x Hello Kitty crossover plush
10:42 AM
@SPArcheon-onstrike Just so we're clear, you do know how singaporeans are about these things right?
@JourneymanGeek about what?
10:58 AM
@JourneymanGeek yeah... you know Zelda players right?
@SPArcheon-onstrike see
I understand being fanatically passionate about something
the chicken bags tho
@SPArcheon-onstrike Is that a Blue Eyes White Kitten?
@ElementsInSpace That is a Dark Magician Kitty.
but there is also a Blu Eye White Cinnamonroll
and as you may expect, this ended up in tons of memes for poor Seto

The scary thing is - the folks who posted this are credible and its not a joke ._.
@JourneymanGeek duh. Twitter does not want people to report abuse because Musk fired all their support staff, they have nobody to handle those reports.
I think Musk fired all employees, no?
Its a particularly bad antipattern
ah, the first wave was all the employees related to security and deciding if content is legit or not.
That's when I deleted my account on that trash platform.
But Musk doesn't directly fire everyone, just making it impossible to keep working. Just like this madman captcha.
@ShadowWizard He is slowly working to make the platform more fitting for its average content.
they already renamed it to "X".
And that is why I despise this person. Rich? Yes. Powerful? Yes. Smart? Sure. Evil? Totally.
blech
3:05 PM
in the next few updates, two more X will be added
then finally Twitter name will be fitting the content.
@SPArcheon-onstrike nah, that content was always there. But masked properly, while the actual content was fine and managed well.
3:35 PM
@ShadowWizard Bad content on Twitter was not moderated and visible to everyone for years. Then they added a "login" wall that did nothing to actual prevent access, just required people to subscribe. Lastly they recently proved that moderation wasn't the actual reason for the change in the first place since they pushed the login wall to ALL content (so you can't even anonymously browse a company / game account anymore)

Neat to see Jeremy cleaning up the data dump archive question.
I mean, in theory, cough can't have the anonymous do-gooder have all the fun :D
ahem cough
@SPArcheon-onstrike Jeremy, recently released from the metaphorical cage, updated meta.stackexchange.com/q/224873
I read that as metaphysical and was very confused
4:24 PM
@SPArcheon-onstrike I can go and upvote 20 of your posts right now if that'll make you feel better
@M.A.R. so that it gets reversed as serial upvote tomorrow?
Thanks but I'll pass.
You may however get me one of the Melusine figures I mentioned before since somedog lives so close yet won't do that for moi

@Jeremy hehe, welcome back. What happened to your avatar?
It was more... black.
@Jeremy so now that you're back, what's your opinion about SE and the data dumps? You plan to add answer to the announcement?
9:21 PM
@ShadowWizard thanks! The avatars areā€¦ just me being silly.
My avatar on meta is dim to indicate that I only vaguely want to be associated with meta, my avatar on most of the network is very distorted to indicate that I donā€™t really want to be associated with it all, and my avatar on Stack Overflow is the clearest because thatā€™s the site where I actually want to be associated with it, but still has a sort of blueprint design to reflectā€¦ personal development and change, maybe? Iā€™m not sure, it was a whim and Iā€™m likely to change them all tomorrow. šŸ˜›
@ShadowWizard I probably wonā€™t post anything because everything Iā€™d say has always even said better by folks who are more articulate and more credible, and Iā€™m trying to learn when to shut up. Itā€™s obviously very bad, a betrayal of the networkā€™s purpose etc etc, but at the same time I donā€™t envy the leadership, who are in an impossible position from which there are probably no winning moves.
According to Prosus, Stack Overflow is still losing $60M per year, and the amount they paid for the company is absurd and it will be impossible for them to ever make that up, probably even if the site were doing well but definitely since the siteā€™s engagement is falling off a cliff. Leadership has impossible goals and tons of pressure from people who are losing unbelievable amounts of money, so theyā€™re probably inevitably going to do things that donā€™t make sense from a community perspective.
It is what it is. šŸ¤·
($60M losses despite $100M in revenueā€¦ I donā€™t understand whatā€™s going on in this business at all. Itā€™s baffling.)
Unless Iā€™m just misreading this document, which I definitely could be! I am not in the target audience. prosus.com/~/media/Files/P/Prosus-CORP/AR2024/…

@Jeremy I'm under the impression they massively expanded certain parts of the company, they underperformed and they got out the big chopping knife
