If not for the rep cap, I'd have gotten 249+470=719 meta rep yesterday. Damn, that's a lot. Still, 47 waffles :)

Who goes to Subway before 9am? I didn't even know Subway was open that early. O.O

Someone who wants a free sub, of course.

You can't even go there and buy them for your lunch because Subway sandwiches are eat-immediately sandwiches. They get soggy and gross really fast and make me want to vomit.

Hahah
That's surprisingly true

3:09 AM
They don't have breakfast sandwiches down there?

3:21 AM
I have no idea. I don't ever go to Subway because their sandwiches are always soggy and gross.

Lots of red red all over MSO today. Good day's work for Geoff (actually he just fixed pretty much two issues :P)

@balpha Chat was constantly disconnected. I could channel hop at a normal speed and it would show the chat updates, but I can not tell you how many times I saw the 'chat is not responding' popup today while I was at work.
has anyone else seen issues like that in the last 16 hours?

Nope.

Nope

Well, I was having some weird latency issues to the actual sites for a bit, but I didn't run into any issues with chat.

I was reading through this meta.stackoverflow.com/q/114271/164367, then found this masswerk.at/elizabot/eliza_chat.html, surprisingly entertaining if you don't type anything and just watch.

You vote-frauded that?

Sure did =P

@jadarnel27 I know.. did you tailor the votes till he got there (like I said above)

Haha, yeah. I mean no. I would never vote fraudulently.

Jeff Atwood on December 23, 2008

As we discovered in the Stack Overflow podcast with the Reddit guys, they have a hidden mechanism for detecting and defeating revenge voting patterns. I suppose it’s a measure of how naive we are, but this wasn’t even on our radar.

Well, now it is.

If you irritate another user, they might be having a bad day and decide to take it out on you by methodically going through and downvoting every post you’ve made. The impact of this is pretty limited on Stack Overflow, as you only get 30 votes per day, and upvotes are +10 while downvotes are only -2 (and -1 to the votee). …

Stop before it's too late!!

Q: F**k you, f**k you, and f**k you - who's next

elcucoFirst of all, please don't offended from the title, and if you don't know what this is follow this link for an audio quote: http://is.gd/54IyU The question is this: I have seen online communities over the years, and the amount of foul language is really high. People are not polite to each others...

I see you're trying to form a cohesive argument against the stone-set policy regarding the usage of profanity within the Creative-Commons-licensed content of StackOverflow (which happens to be more of a metaphorical dictatorship rather than a democracy) by appealing to the sense that the greater good is freedom of speech and expression, regardless of what the status-quo considers 'professional'. You should totally drop that and try jQuery. — snicker Nov 27 '09 at 20:06

Q: About your f***ing website

Jeff AtwoodPresented for your enjoyment-slash-amusement. Email received by team@stackoverflow.com from Name Jesus Christ Almighty, what a f***ing mess of a website. I'm trying to post a question. Just the one, you know, f***ing question. So I sign up for an ID and I'm sent an email that doesn't real...

I fall just on the "no" side of "should that answer be spam-flagged," but golly gee do I wish he had provided some explanatory text for the list of tech phrases he threw out there before plugging his website.

@PopularDemand Hahaha, I love that one.

Anybody willing to relieve stackoverflow.com/suggested-edits/247939 from its harsh fate? The suggester correctly points out an error in the answer, but goes about it in all the wrong ways. (Has a deleted "Not-an-answer" with basically the same contents on the question already, so he cares about it. I rejected with a custom message pointing out correct paths of action.)

3:50 PM
@DanielFischer Done.

Thanks. Now I wonder, shall I correct the mistake myself or give him the chance to do it?

4:13 PM
just do it I reckon
I like the second deleted NAA which was a response to the first NAA :)

Well, he was alert enough to delete it himself for only the chosen few to see it.

I think making the correct edit and crediting it in the edit message seems the best way to defuse
I'd guess the user is sat there hammering F5 in a cloud of rage waiting to see what happens

Doing it right now.

@RebeccaChernoff that sounds like a recipe for a public order problem
(and I thought it meant Standard Template Library initially)

@awoodland Eh, but the tickets are probably only for Blues games.

@PopularDemand something tells me I shouldn't click that at work...

Yes, it's an instant rim shot, not...the alternative.

NSFW stuff bothers me too, since I mostly keep The Tavern open at work for "background noise." I wouldn't post any such stuff myself.

Is that all we are to you? Background noise? For shame, good sir!
Actually, based on the word I just played in WwF, that's perhaps rather accurate.

I have officially become a meta-guy
My MSO rep has surpassed my Phy.SE.
Nooooooo!

4:57 PM
@Manishearth Quick, bounties!

@Manishearth My MSO rep makes up something like 70% of my total network rep. Own it.

@pop :O

@PopularDemand Thankfully I'm only at 56.1% Meta reps. :P

I think I'll update my profile with:
Expertise:SE, Declining feature requests, and drawing FHC's
;-)

Hm, apparently I'm "only" at 68%.

So I'm not the only one.. And I'm at less than 50% :D

Oh, shutting down six sites? o.o

@anim ??

Shog9 on April 25, 2012

In the lifecycle of a Stack Exchange site, we’ve long held the philosophy that “it takes as long as it takes” to build a sustainable community:

The simple answer is, it takes as long as it takes. We’ll wait. If a site needs more activity, go out and evangelize it. As long as your site shows steady progress and continues to make the Internet a better place to get expert answers to your questions, it will march on.

But when a site struggles to maintain any semblance of steady progress — when it’s struggling to garner an audience, a healthy core of experts, and a steady stre …

@Manishearth All six sites also have banners announcing the closure, as well as local/per-site meta posts by Shog with short explanations.

Good thing I jumped ship on Healthcare IT before it went into beta. :P

oh, that's sad...

I'm surprised Code Golf isn't in there.

breathes a sigh of relief I'm glad they didn't kill the music site.

I'm (re) learning the flute on my own, so I hope music.SE stays alive.. Havent yet asked, but will do so. Lots of questions
IMO they should give us time to salvage questions. TP.SE and Astro overlap Phy.SE, so we could take in some questions, I guess
They ought to close the sites for posting but leave moderation--mainly migration--open for at least a month

@Manishearth That's the one thing the site really needs, is more good questions. there seem to be alot of engaged answerers.
Also, good luck on the flute!

Q: Salvage questions on closed sites via migration

ManishearthI was pretty sad to hear that some sites are being closed .I understand thr necessity, though. But, some of the sites have overlap with other, established sited. TheoreticalPhy.SE and Astro.SE have quite a few questions which would be at home on Phy.SE (first example I found, lots more where tha...

Q: How to use WordPress for class notes?

MosheI've been writing my C++ class' notes directly into my WordPress editor. My professor has tasked me with codifying the notes for future use. I'm working with a classmate on this project, but I need to give her access to my blog. Additionally, my notes are written in a narrative style, which me...

Why is it necessary to repeat the same unfunny Kristen Schaal is a horse? — random 1 min ago

Who's Kristen Schaal? I know one Kristine Schaal, but I'd be surprised if random knew her.

She's an actress...appears on uhh
Flight of the Conchords and The Daily Show I think
...Apparently she also does the voice of one of the characters from Bob's Burgers, huh.

Aye

That explains me never having heard of her.

7:20 PM
I just don't understand what random is saying. I imagine it's some kind of joke, but I don't follow it.
Anyone care to explain (if you do happen to get it)?

@jadarnel27 Well, it's random

Uh. I see random's point. I don't see how the Beeb went there from Monty Python's, however.

I'm 90% sure they were both flagged by the same person too

Anyone here know about .htaccess?
I've thoroughly botched mine.
@mootinator?

I thought using the global/per-vhost config was considered better practice

I'm using wordpress hosted with GoDaddy.
Wordpress uses htaccess.

I would imagine @TimStone is an expert on that subject.
Considering he's one of the all-time top answerers for that tag.
@TimStone At least now I get the reference =)

@TimStone I think she's a recurring character on 30 Rock now, too; didn't see her in the last couple episodes, though.

I'm thinking of getting into Android development. If for no other reason than to have another active tag on Stack Overflow.
and because I want to make games. I did that in college and it was fuuuuuun.
Neat, I got 55 rep for basically quoting MSDN documentation. How cool am I?

Hahah, nicely done

@Lix I do not. What is this nonsense of which you speak? Some sort of Stack App?
