@Journeyman what is the meaning of "have said alluded"? Some common meme I'm not familiar with as usual? I doubt the OP you said it to will understand though, they appear totally clueless as it is. If you can edit to use plain language, think it can be better. ;)

@ShadowTheSpringWizard people have said, but not directly
and yeah you have a point, user might be ESLer than me

@JourneymanGeek never seen such thing used, but I'm not native speaker. You have good sources, that's for sure, lol.
Well most likely neither me nor OP have any idea what you meant by that first sentence. ;)

Pity, most blacklisted users are false positives lately. Probably due to VLQ marked as spam, which is bad.

Fully embracing a remote workplace means letting everyone work when they want to work.

@Feeds Building a Collaborative Asynchronous onebox environment

With wrong author.
Next to break: date. It will always show January 1, 1970.
(Probably when 2024 starts.)
Jeff never imagined in his wildest dreams chat will still exist, and be 100% the same as in the day of its creation, in 2024, so there's sanity checks.

@ShadowTheSpringWizard I think its less "Jeff never imagining" and "subsequent managements had different priorities"

@JourneymanGeek hmm? Those are two different matters.

@ShadowTheSpringWizard well the relative lack of changes anyway

2:27 PM
🚽

@JourneymanGeek relative???? To what?! rofl!!
There are no changes, period.

Well they did create the mobile view and then redo it :D

The codebase is the same. They changed some design around it, that's it.
However, do note I'm not saying it's bad thing. Sometimes ancient relics works better than new fancy stuff.

and chat, and to a lesser extent public Q&A wasn't a priority
@ShadowTheSpringWizard until it breaks
and its kept running by prayer and duct tape

@JourneymanGeek onebox is broken for years, but isn't very important part of chat so I'm not that annoyed by it.

2:30 PM
the mobile view is awful

@JourneymanGeek and some shaman enchanting "woo woo woo" in a dark forest in Africa.

@KevinB Well - it could get replaced by a universal responsive view...

@KevinB I wish it was awful. That would mean it can be used.
@JourneymanGeek URV? Sounds cool, like EMP.

and the current mobile view is 'good enough' mostly

BTW, Israel is burning, literally. People burned roads during the night. lol

2:34 PM

@JourneymanGeek good for you, I've tried using it for a while, reached a stage I just couldn't do it anymore.

I heard
@ShadowTheSpringWizard I use it all the time. I do a lot on my phone

it has no way to show hidden posts

@JourneymanGeek you're more adaptive than me, cheers! :P
@KevinB what is a hidden post?

a post that isn't visible

2:36 PM
@KevinB you mean deleted?

no, posts from ignored users

ah
Well, you are ignoring them

@KevinB We had no way of ever guessing that.

the purpose is to hide the messages unless i want to see them
but in mobile view i get no choice to view them

2:37 PM
But that one I do support, why would you want to show messages from a user you ignore? If you want, remove from ignore list and you'll see the messages.

id on't think you can remove them from the list either on m obile

Anyway it's not missing features that render it unusable, it's the overall UX, hard to explain.

Its basically as stripped down as possible
just like the old main site mobile views
and... this is fine?

if it doesn't support existing functionality, no

Well the feature I miss the most is the ability to reply to a message from the transcript. When using the mobile view it drove me nuts as I use this a lot, and had to switch to full view, reply, and back to mobile. But again, that wasn't the last nail in the coffin.

2:44 PM
The main thing for mobile view for me is...
I can check on chat from my phone :D

i mean
you can do that with or without mobile view, so
not exactly a feature

the desktop view is pretty terrible on a phone
and I actually use this a lot.

Whatever sails your boat phone... ;)

@Feeds it's just an ad for teams

@KevinB and this is surprising how? :D

2:59 PM
New "terrible design of the year" in the blog post, displaying quotes as links. Eww.
Hope it's just that one writer, and not a new trend.

it appears to be from the site design, .p-article blockquote
