@SPArcheon welcome to my world as classic ASP developer back in 2000, lol. Though I didn't have to fix existing code, I was asked to write a website from scratch using it, without prior experience.
So I just wrote and fixed when things didn't work, and Google was my good friend. ;)
@tripleee wrong arrow, should be arrow down. ;)
@JourneymanGeek think one of former SE staff was part of it, and it was only raised as suggestion for donation:

A: Announcing Our Amazing 2018 Stuff-A-Way!

SeinopSysCloudFlare recently started onboarding people to their domain registrar in waves, and if you wanted to get access sooner you could donate to Girls Who Code - an organization helping to close the gender gap in technology -, so that's exactly what I did. Despite getting access sooner, none of the ...

@ShadowTheKidWizard hm, Moderator donation thing
lemme check
Juan M on February 04, 2021
We continue our yearly tradition to donate $100 per moderator towards a charity that helps those in need. We look forward to a strong year and take the time to thank our volunteer moderators for their wonderful contributions. Let’s make this one to remember!
yup
also
and stack overflow sucks at tagging as much as I do
also, interestingly, I just realised questions about company policies and actions are not on the on topic list :D

Hey @M.A.R. seems to have internet again :D

@Tinkeringbell hi Tink

Hi. How's things there?

Actually, the internet was never wholly gone this time. They've instead blocked Google Play Store, almost every VPN somehow, Instagram, yadda yadda
So my lack of presence is entirely of my own volition!
awkward silence

Hahaha
That's still quite a bit of internet blocked though!
But what made you choose to be awkwardly silent then?

9:02 AM
@Tinkeringbell mostly that I have probably run out of useful things to say

Heh. I've never seen that stop you ;)

Sure, it just means I can only dispense wisdom one chatroom at a time
I hang out in ELU chat, make funneh comments about war or Medvedev or drugs that affect the CNS
Works for me

@curious found this on reddit - as usual, no actual guarantee on the app safety.

@M.A.R. Ah, fair enough :)

@JourneymanGeek ohh
@M.A.R. well glad you're staying at home and not taking part in the riots. :)

12:23 PM
haha what a good laugh: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/382372/… (deleted)

I saw that :D

It's undeleted now...

I don't think MSE has adds, right?

Doesn't matter... they've apparently 'scoured all the networks'. That should include those sites that do, or they're lying.

I don't remember

12:36 PM
@Luuklag Pretty sure it has. I see new questions added everyday....

@SPArcheon Booo

@JoshDarnell JanDvorak is not there so they need a substitute.

12:48 PM
hmmm disabling reduced adds, and browsing SO for a while doesn't give me any adds.

@Luuklag They're still there... i.stack.imgur.com/JIz1c.png is what I get.

@Tinkeringbell hmmm curious
@Tinkeringbell you might want to post that as an answer

Nah, not gonna bother with that user.

I still haven't found a single add, anywhere in the network though...
anyways, got to go, pick up my kid from school and drop her off at the swimmingpool

12:54 PM
Well it didn't take any "scouring" to find an add here. Just open a popular (most voted) question on SO, there's sure to be advertisers there.
@Luuklag Good luck, hope she comes out of that pool alive :P

1:08 PM
@Luuklag ads are localized, and..... honestly rare.

1:39 PM
@ShadowTheKidWizard not the riots, but there's probably going to be nationwide sit-ins instead of participating in uni classes
We will bravely sacrifice our playing Candy Crush in class until we see some justice
Or . . . Whatever they play. I'm just the nerd, I actually occasionally listen to what's being taught

2:08 PM
@SPArcheon GUI...that sounds like what I need :D

@SPArcheon Thank you for feeding my little obsession :)

not related, but got this while trying "Guybrush as a Jedi"

lol!

2:36 PM

@SPArcheon I feel like I've seen this elsewhere, maybe just earlier in the transcript... Looks very nice!
I feel like I'm starting to build an AI art radar but I can't say exactly how. At least for midjourney, there seems to be some stylistic features that are more apparent

@curious well, most of the base models seems to have very little "anime" training, and I suspect that only "realistic" pictures where used.
To keep it simple: there are many well known artist that draw anime characters in "realistic" look
See for example....
compare to the actual show style:
I have tried, but unless I find a specifically trained model there is no way to get this style, while getting something closer to the first picture seems possible...

I've seen this too, I tried generating suminagashi (Japanese marbling) and it was definitely clueless!
But an octopus eating noodles, no problem ^^

@curious I saw this space that advertises the ability to train custom concepts. You could try, but I wouldn't expect much
yet, I could not get any decent results with most combinations.
<cham> in <Kimjdav_Artsu-style> style results in this monstrosity
nothing like the concept nor the style
@curious also, it is worth noticing that the <doose-realistic> style seems to produce good results, and I assume that is exactly because the style is realistic, and therefore it finds reinforcement in the rest of the training set.
@@curious that said, I may dare suggesting that perhaps we could actually consider the creation of a dedicated room if this hobby continues, posting the pictures, prompt and tools used for reference.

@M.A.R. lol no idea what you mean. What is "sit-in"?

4:51 PM
seems to list some tools you could try

@ShadowTheKidWizard it's this thing where people sit in

@M.A.R. chair
So, national chairs?

No! They would have called it a chair if it was a chair!
Sit-in.

meh, can also be called SPSO.
Something People Sit On.
:D

No u pspsps

5:01 PM
And still no idea what you mean, but guess I'm not going to know unless I'll Google somehow. ;)
New teaching system, I assume.

That's the idea

sitting on @M.A.R's idea

@ShadowTheKidWizard no! They would have called it a new teaching system then!
the internet is on life support here
wondering if @Sha even googled it

2 hours later…
poof

there's a second spam on that question now by the same user
(they changed their account name)

@SPArcheon we've discussed it in Ink Spot on GD.SE if you'd like to join us :)
@SPArcheon I wouldn't want folks getting annoyed
Oct 7, 2019 at 10:43, by Journeyman Geek
But yanno. I do realise that there's a thin line between being curious and being... insufferably annoying
^^

7:14 PM
@SPArcheon Guybrush? As in the monkey island games?

8:05 PM
o/
hey catija, hows life treating you in TX? About to turn into winter again?

8:21 PM
@Catija "Lucky guess. Half the people I know are named Guybrush."

@Luuklag "winter" is a bit of a lie here. Unless it is an odd year. But I have been able to turn my AC off occasionally and open some windows, so things aren't all bad.
@ElementsinSpace :D I just finished the new game and it's... fun but also very anti-climatic at the end. I hadn't played any of the prior ones, so the ending was likely more expected to people who have.

@Catija I've only played the original. It was awesome, but I got stuck at some point and never finished it.

When I saw the info about it, my first question was - so it's like a non-racy, pirate version of Leisure Suit Larry?

@Catija sounds like a good development. Hope you get saved from last years snow drama

@Luuklag Yeah. But we've got the battery backup and the solar now, anyway, so it wouldn't be so bad as long as it didn't get killed by the storm :P
And the Tesla's dashboards are really useful for seeing how much power we're using vs sending to the grid.

8:35 PM
@Catija appears nice, except for the hideous sign up twitter banner right across :/
I always get so annoyed by those things

Yeah, I intentionally won't go to Pintrest any more because of them.

I hear the only downsides to those grid batteries is that they can only store energy short-term. And for them to be really usefull you would need to be able to store energy over the seasons.
But hey, anything that saves you money right now is a win I guess.

Ah, no, the batteries are only good for about 8 hours on minimal usage - if that. Mostly it's a way for us to save some energy overnight and before storms during times where the solar may not be able to hold us over if the power grid went down. :)

@Catija I know from my inlaws when they were in FL, that they could only hook up their solar directly to the grid, so if the grid went down, solar would be useless. I hope things are easier for you.

Yeah, we have a three-way switch. The solar goes into a hub that switches between the battery and the city, so if the battery isn't full, the solar fills it first. Once the battery is full, the solar goes to the city. It's also really neat in that, if there's an event coming that might knock the grid out and the battery is low, it will pull extra power from the grid to fill itself up in case the power does go down. :)
I think we can also manually tell it to fill the battery but we've not used that if we can.
For the winter, we also have a gas furnace, so the electric would only be making the fans run for the ducts and other stuff like lights and the fridge.

8:51 PM
sounds like your in a lot better shape then you were last winter, or not?

9:34 PM
Yeah, should be. :D
