@MetaAndrewT. Hello! I'm Shadow.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I agree
@M.A.R. watching @M.A.R falling off the cliff down to the Golden River

7:35 AM
Well, I also saw no reason avoiding it either, until the moderator recommended against so. The whole reason why this is a question is because of that comment. — Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog 41 secs ago
@ShadowTheKidWizard To add to my comment here: if I were to post the same request as is, the moderator may notice and decide I was aware of the request based on my prior comments, and delete it on the grounds I reposted a deleted question without improving.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog that might be seen as copy&paste and might justify deletion, yes. But if you repost it using your own wording, there's really no ground for outright deletion. I'd strongly object t such action by single moderator and ask other moderators to intervene, or contact a CM.

o/
If you need an undelete vote, just let me know @son

7:53 AM
@Luuklag I don't want to go against the author's wish there, considering they likely deleted for political/ideological reasons (as I commented on the question and Shadow's answer)
There's also the issue of the author potentially immediately re-deleting, in which case I'd need to seek undelete votes from other three people.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog there's always room for improvement

@JourneymanGeek True. In the particular case here, due to later system changes there are now additional arguments I can make.
But the question is asking in the timeframe of immediately after the deletion.

Its worth thinking about the intention here
We don't want people to 'lazy' copy/paste a feature request
We also don't want posts deleted for moderation reasons to be just reposted. (and that's a paddlin suspension)
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog flagging works there
especially if its a ragequit

Well, the paragraph mentioned "significant" improvements. Mere copyediting is not a "significant" improvement, plus I had already improved the question right before it was deleted so there wasn't much to improve even more (at the time).

And sometimes well
If its to the betterment of the community
you just do it, and deal with the fallout ;)

8:47 AM
@JourneymanGeek There is another case where my question comes up, which I just thought of. If the original question was asked by a good-hand sockpuppet of a banned user and their question is deleted as a result of the account being destroyed. That counts as deleting for moderation reasons, but it's not because of the question quality but rather due to the history of the user.
(We had a user here who made good contributions through one account and disrupted through other accounts; their accounts were all destroyed by SE)

I think what I said covers that too
I literally mean stuff that got deleted cause it was trouble or leaked stuff
Just ask it as an original question that addresses a problem you faced

@JourneymanGeek As in, due to the nature of the question content (in general).

True, that was my opinion from the get-go. It's only because of Tinkeringbell's paragraph there that one should only repost if one has significant things to add, if they're aware of a prior self-deleted post addressing the same problem, that it was a question.

I think the linked question is more general
there's a few things I'd consider
1) laziness
2) is this trying to circumvent something like a roomba
3) is this gonna cause drama
4) critically - is this the right/best timing to get this feature on the radar?
(I don't actually care about 4)

8:54 AM
...and my question was just closed as a duplicate of the previous post, by Tinkeringbell
Sometimes it's difficult to tell if a mod is merely making an opinion or issuing an official ruling.

See the comment. You should've just written an answer to the other post if you disagreed with mine. Keep everything in one place and stuff, that's what SE is for.

Looking for the popcornvender

Don't bother.

Now I'm hungry :(

Popcorn won't help much, and is unhealthy ;) have a banana

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog not everything needs to be an official ruling
/me hands @Luuklag some calbee's hot and spicy
so good a co worker wanted me to send him a photo of the packaging, cause its slightly addicitive

Quick question, why is rep deducted from a user when another person's acc is deleted? (assuming the other person who upvoted you didn't do anything wrong)

Q: Don't throw away all votes when a user is deleted

Mad ScientistCurrently, when a moderator deletes a user all of the user's votes are removed along with the user themselves. I was pretty surprised at this behaviour when I first heard about it, and I don't think it is a good idea to throw away all of the votes just because the user is deleted. Votes are lock...

A: What does "user was removed" mean and why did my reputation change because of it?

JeremyWhat does "user was removed" mean in my reputation history? A user who voted for one or more of your posts had their account deleted (either by request or due to violating the network's terms of service). As a result, all of their votes and final suggested edit approvals were removed, and the rep...

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog :(

Why don't I get to keep the reputation, even though it wasn't my fault?

9:59 AM
@DialFrost cause the user is dead to us
DEAD
D E A D
more seriously - generally account deletions get reviewed if a user has lots of votes IIRC

10:44 AM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog huh? No, you said it was deleted due to not getting response.
(or was it someone else who said it?)

@ShadowTheKidWizard Wasn't me who said that.

@JourneymanGeek with that I totally agree.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog fair, I've probably missed your reasoning for deletion.
@Luuklag I just ate

11:06 AM
@ShadowTheKidWizard I did too

@Luuklag awesome! I had something like that:
With boiled egg inside as well. :D

@ShadowTheKidWizard deleted cause user RAGEQUIT

11:28 AM
@ShadowTheKidWizard Looks good, I had onion soup and some bread
@Luuklag still up

Not any more

@Luuklag yummu
Soup now will cause me to melt, it's 30+ degrees (celcius)

gazpacho!

@JourneymanGeek so why isn't it valid for the contents to be reposted by somebody else if they're valid?

@ShadowTheKidWizard not what I said
at all
so to me the 'key' thing here is "why was it deleted"
and if its something that should be here - who can check and validate the answer
and that its not a low effort copy paste
if you have the SAME problem and it was deleted by the user - reposting is fine

11:34 AM
@JourneymanGeek god bless you (that was a sneeze, right? ;))
@JourneymanGeek yup

@ShadowTheKidWizard I knew you's say that lol
its cold tomato soup

@JourneymanGeek oh

@JourneymanGeek That'd be vandalism, a mod message, suspension and undeletion of posts, right? So flag immediately if you see anything like that happen. Perhaps don't wait two years either!

Gazpacho (Spanish pronunciation: [ɡaθˈpatʃo]; Southern peninsular Spanish: [ɡahˈpa(t)ʃo]) or Gaspacho (Portuguese: [ɡɐʃˈpaʃu]), also called Andalusian gazpacho, is a cold soup and drink made of raw, blended vegetables. It originated in the southern regions of the Iberian peninsula and spread into other areas. Gazpacho is widely eaten in Spain and Portugal, particularly during hot summers, since it is refreshing and cool. Although there are other recipes called gazpacho, such as gazpacho manchego, the standard usage implies a soup. There are also a number of dishes that are closely related and often...
@Tinkeringbell 2 years later... reasking seems fine tbh

@Tinkeringbell that's also an option, but having the posts without existing OP also have downsides, e.g. nobody can accept answers.

11:36 AM
@ShadowTheKidWizard that's why my answer starts with that :D

@JourneymanGeek still sounds like a sneeze, but looks yummy. :D

@ShadowTheKidWizard And for a feature request that is especially important because?

lol
@ShadowTheKidWizard which makes it better!

@ShadowTheKidWizard a yummy sneeze....

@Tinkeringbell not very important, but in rare cases there are several answers, and having the official one by staff accepted bumps it to the top which is "nice to have".

11:38 AM
I associate sneezes more with yellow and green colours then red...

@Luuklag that's why I said sounds like a sneeze, the look is fine. :P
Yellow sneeze sounds creepy, should see a doctor. ;)
@Luuklag whatever sails your boat!
:D
(I'm 100% sure there is some official term for actual sneeze fetish..... o_O)

@Luuklag unless you sneeze so hard your lungs come out you have a nosebleed

can't resist Googling

@ShadowTheKidWizard now there has to be

@JourneymanGeek actually there isn't! shock
Well, none that I found. It exists, of course, with forums and all, but couldn't find official term for it.
Looks like there was once Wikipedia page about it that got deleted.

11:48 AM

@Luuklag either smartass or someone testing out how to post the wrong way

@JNat cross site troll (?) posting nonsense on purpose. Maybe doesn't justify nuking, but worth checking for past deleted posts.

@ShadowTheKidWizard journey can tell if they have garbage on SU

@Luuklag nothing on SU

1:38 PM
@Luuklag yeah, noticed too just now the only site where they're long time member is SU...

@Luuklag that's not spam, but can fit as abusive, as it abuse the system on purpose.

Readable code is great, but not all code will be immediately readable. That’s when you get your interrogation tools.

@Feeds How to interrogate code written by Me
my code is read 100x as often as its written LOL.
And thats all by me xD

@Mithical argh those pesky downvoters

I had spam flagged that back in January 24th of 2021 and it survived :'(
Thank goodness spam flags no longer age away.

8:37 PM
@Spevacus one more
How could I delvote that while it was only -2 btw?
I put it on -3 after del voting

It only needs to be at -1. Closed questions that have been closed for less than 48 hours need to be at -3 for us to delete 'em.
Answers don't have that restriction.

@Spevacus ah yeah, that's where I went wrong
also cv'd their SO questin
that had an upvote for some reason

Re-applied protection to the featured post since we seem to have exhausted useful discussion from brand new users.
