@Catija Can confirm that London was warm for the past few days
I flew in a few days ago.
@Catija If you're flying Virgin Atlantic, be cautious - they don't have power sockets, only USB ports which are slow to charge devices

Wife just finish her COVID quarantine, and guess what happens? My daughter is now positive! :-[
Luckily she's 12 so can be on her own in quarantine, but that's insane...
And what's the first thing she's worried about? That she'll miss my birthday next week.... :D
!!/cure COVID

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar No such command 'cure'.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Ugh, sorry to hear that!
Household got covid in February here... both kiddos and I, one after the other, I was pretty much locked in for 18 days

@curious Today is day 18 of mostly staying home for me. Only left for groceries once (according to the guidelines you only have to isolate for 10 days after a positive test, even if you still have symptoms after 10 days) as online ordering/delivery sucks here. But as long as I'm coughing, it seems more polite towards other people to stay home.

@Tinkeringbell 10 days makes sense... It was 5 here (for kids) and let me tell you, after 5 days they were testing positive like nothing had changed
Are you still testing positive after 18 days though?

@curious No, I'm no longer testing positive. Last positive test was last Friday, I did one again yesterday (because today was supposed to be an office day) and got a negative one, finally.
Still, I cough so much I can't believe it won't infect others XD

@Tinkeringbell I had the same concerns...from what I understand, you would be coughing up dead virus or something
but I totally get not going places because you're coughing... I had a coughing fit in a store once, just got some whiff of dust or something but I ended up leaving because it looked really bad haha

Yeah, it's the stares. But also another example is I had plans with a friend to visit a movie this weekend, we switched that up a little (she'll come by here) because if I'm coughing like this, I'm likely to be removed from the theater for the noise alone XD

Every little cough here by the kids here has been worrying because it might mean missing a heck of a lot of workdays :| I'm getting a bit of a break now, fingers crossed, but got very little done this winter.

1:08 PM
No work from home?

1:25 PM
@Tinkeringbell It wasn't allowed for teaching last winter, and even if it had been, it's tough to get anything done with their age

Ah yeah, if it's not allowed that doesn't work XD
It's of course way better for the students to not have a teacher at all :P

@Tinkeringbell There would normally be someone to replace me but... that means I'm likely still working if I have to brief someone on what they're supposed to be doing -_-

Yeah, it's just double work at that point.

1:54 PM
I got sick too. Tested negative for COVID; seems to be a nasty flu.

And that's ^ why I don't travel long distances :P

@Tinkeringbell Remember when I used delivery services: had an injury and was in pain, and couldn't leave my apartment building. There was good availability, but the prices were quite inflated and had to pay delivery fees and tip each time.
Now that I think of it, it could be a false negative

Same here: The only supermarkets offering it are the more expensive ones, so you can end up paying like 20 cents more for something as simple as a cucumber. Then, you have a choice between a.) getting nothing if something isn't in stock or b.) having the delivery person offer you a replacement at the door.

You choose b because if the small cartons of milk are out of stock (which regularly happens) I rather have a big one, you know? But then they also replace sweet marinaded pork meat (no bones) with spicy chicken wings (lots of bones), and silly stuff like that. And still, some stuff they
Needless to say, I don't tip XD It's not a very Dutch thing to do but also not deserved at all XD
Delivery fees here are 5 euro's for each crate (you get those back if you return the crates to the store/upon the next delivery), and I think about 6 euros for the delivery itself (but I got the first four for free, so yay XD).

2:19 PM
@curious oh wow, here it's 7 days "only", can be 5 if testing negative twice. Must have been really tough, my wife will literally explode if she'll have to be locked down with only one of the kids in a room. But at least you had the whole house?
@Tinkeringbell that's very polite of you indeed, and online ordering here sucks as well, even with biggest supermarkets, they just always make mistakes. Sometimes things are missing without a notice, sometimes replaced with something I never asked for, and one time the whole order just vanished into the void.
Mistakes are obvious, as they hire the most cheap employees possible for the task, and make them work hours without any rest.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar It was 5 days for the kids only, and then they were supposed to be masked in school for the 5 following days...but you know, they end up infected all their friends regardless. Basically some crap compromise so parents can work. We didn't really try to contain covid in the house when we had it, kids are too young to stay in one room
There was no way I was sending them back while still testing positive, but not all parents think that way (or can afford it)

@curious oh, I see. Bummer. At least it's all behind you. :)

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar I don't know haha... new wave starting here :P In fact I just got my online groceries
No replacements, which was surprising

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar and the vanished order was when the supermarket was testing a brand new system, 100% automated packaging, without humans who make mistakes. So there were no mistakes, but also no order, it was just one huge white elephant, didn't work at all.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar lol

2:32 PM
I don't envy the manager who gave the OK to whatever crappy system they bought.
@curious yeah, same here, both for new wave (we're getting close to 10k new cases a day) and I buy online these days while working from home because I'm lazy. :D

@Tinkeringbell Here 90% of drivers will refuse to deliver if you don't tip. So I tip a small amount so I don't get written down as a cheap person.
Was in the UK and my cousins were bragging about how they didn't need to tip there. But one day I showed them the receipt and pointed out the 15% service charge

@SonictheSaveUkraine-hog What, you have to tip before you even got any service? That's crazy... What are you tipping for then?!
