I want to change name again, @SonictheSaveUkraine-hog you want to synch, or each of us going his own way? Also, would like to get ideas, something not related to COVID or war...

How about just plain old normal Shadow Wizard :P

@Tinkeringbell yeah that's an option too. I found old picture of myself as a kid, so was thinking to use it as the new avatar, along with proper name, but can't find something fitting. :[

Shadow the baby wizard

@Luuklag kid, not baby, think 6 years old. I'll just post it here, give me a sec...

Shadow the todler wizard xD

9:08 AM
(I'm embarrassed to onebox it ;))
@Luuklag better, but maybe something with the cat? Sadly I forgot its name, but looks like that cat liked me. :P

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Shadow the pussy wizard xD

@Luuklag lol well that would just get me suspended... ;)

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Oh, that one can definitely be oneboxed... You should see some of my childhood pictures XD

9:26 AM
@Tinkeringbell maybe I should! ;)
You posted them on Twitter?

One, once, I think

launching Twitter
@Tinkeringbell nope, just went over all your media, no such picture. cries

Must've been on Facebook then XD
I bet I shared it in here before as well.

grr
No FB
Well I'll post my own then, let's see if anyone will even notice, I'm not really active on Twitter, never found myself in there. lol

9:39 AM
:)
:(
@Tinkeringbell context? Halloween?

@Tinkeringbell Tink the horrorclown
3
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar probably Carnaval

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar No just a teacher's birthday I believe
@Luuklag I live above the river. When I was young, carnaval wasn't even a thing here. Now it's a good way for bars to earn some money, but still not much more ;)

@Tinkeringbell So do I, we still celebrated at school

Oh, no... a catholic thing like that? Waaaay too heathen :P

@Tinkeringbell we were a catholic school ;)

9:44 AM
I clearly wasn't on one XD

@Luuklag oh, nice!
@Tinkeringbell whaaat?! Why you put such costume for birthday? :D
@Luuklag and was it good?

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar my daughter gets to dress up for the last day before a holiday every time

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar I don't know. It was a thing when I was growing up, usually you'd have two days a year where you'd end up going to school in a costume: The teacher's birthday (later, this was combined into one 'school party' for all the teacher's birthdays) and Sinterklaas.

@Luuklag well whatever makes her happy... :D

@Tinkeringbell yay for all blackface children, at least in my time

9:47 AM
@Tinkeringbell think our Purrim is the equivalent of your Sinterklaas, but nothing like that teacher birthday party... actually none of my kids know the birthday of any of their teachers, I think.

@Luuklag I'm pretty damn glad I grew up in a time where pictures weren't digital yet XD There's a few pictures I hope dad never digitizes XD

@Tinkeringbell oh, I'm sure he will. :D
The pic I found was scanned and sent to me by my mother. ;)

I know there is a picture of my Brother in Law, dressed as a ghost. His grandmother made a costume, with quite a pointy hat. Downside is they were living in southern USA at that time...

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar I don't think so. Sinterklaas is more ... secular, not religious. Even though it started out as Saint Nicholas of Myra ;)

@Luuklag hmm? I don't really get it. Why downside?

9:49 AM
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar KKK

@Tinkeringbell exactly, had quite some similarity to that

Yeah, that wasn't smart.

@Tinkeringbell same as Purrim, it's the only Jewish holiday that isn't religious, in a way. Let me find a source...
@Tinkeringbell ohhhh lol, yeah

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purim sounds pretty religious to me

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Oh, I thought Purim was something to do with the book of Esther, and Haman?

9:51 AM
oh it's just Purim dunno why I thought it has double "r"... anyway:
> Purim has more of a national than a religious character, and its status as a holiday is on a different level from those days ordained holy by the Torah. Hallel is not recited. As such, according to some authorities, business transactions and even manual labor are allowed on Purim under certain circumstances.

@Tinkeringbell you read the same wiki

@Luuklag No, I'm working from memory!

Purim (; Hebrew: פּוּרִים Pūrīm, lit. 'lots') is a Jewish holiday which commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, an official of the Achaemenid Empire who was planning to have all of Persia's Jewish subjects killed, as recounted in the Book of Esther (usually dated to the 5th century BCE). Haman was the royal vizier to Persian king Ahasuerus (Xerxes I or Artaxerxes I; "Khshayarsha" and "Artakhsher" in Old Persian, respectively). His plans were foiled by Mordecai of the tribe of Benjamin, and Esther, Mordecai's cousin and adopted daughter who had become queen of Persia after h...
Source ^
@Tinkeringbell yes, it is. And the "spirit" of the holiday is to dress up, give each other gifts, and just be happy. :D
However, it has no mention in the Bible, as it came much later.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Ah, so that's perhaps similar then. But does it also involve one old all-knowing guy handing out gifts to every child, and a controversy over the facial color of his helpers? XD

@Tinkeringbell lol, no, that's already just "yours". :D

9:55 AM
Lovely :D

10:13 AM
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar in jest!

@MetaAndrewT. huh, lol

FWIW, I found a video of Rene, Magisch and I havin' a party

Not blurry enough!
Per this burninate request, I've created and defined an initial tag wiki for (tag wiki link) - Someone may want to refine what I've written, or wipe it out and replace it entirely. Up to you :)

2:18 PM
@curious the cat is real?! :D
But... who is @Rene? I know only @rene.
Size might not matter, but case matters, and rene is sensitive. :P
2
@Spevacus but was it worth bumping 13 years old question just for that? I'm not sure.
What's done is done, but better leave old stuff buried, unless there's something quite drastic that needs fixing. IMHO.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar I've been, as slowly as I can, going through previously-agreed-upon burninate requests and trying to make them happen.

@Spevacus what do you suggest we do about questions that are about answer dificulty

@Spevacus oh, I see. Well that's a general dilemma then, whether to bump ancient stuff from the depths of history just to remove/change a tag, or not. Worth its own discussion.
I'd vote to just leave it, even in the cost of not fully burninating the tag.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Aw. Too late to edit :/ Rene is like rene but with a tan and a saxophone :)

@curious hmm, like a twin?

2:27 PM
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar like a cutting?

@Luuklag Yes.
(I don't know)

Turns out he has two twins!
So lovely.
I'll name them Rene and ReNe.
!!/tea Spe

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar brews a cup of mint tea for @Spe

/o/

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar I found a blue one and a yellow one with spiky petals too
and a whole video of cats annoyed by saxophone playing flowers -_-

2:39 PM
Sounds like a productive day

@curious I like one of the ones underneath it, it genuinely made me giggle XD

@Tinkeringbell I'm not sure I dare to ask which :)

@curious Then I'm almost sure you saw it too :P The one marked as 'violence'? :P

While Perl might seem like an outdated scripting language, it still has plenty of relevant uses today.

2:56 PM
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar I do generally try to choose ones that need more improvement than just the tag adjustments to do first. I also do try to do a close vote pass through open questions first before I make any adjustments (a-la the [content] tag: meta.stackexchange.com/q/164990/622284 meta.stackexchange.com/q/118014/622284 )

3:32 PM
@curious lol
@Feeds onebox still relevant in 2022
@Spevacus yeah, guess that's fine. I just have a soft spot when it comes to digging out ancient stuff, for some reason. But when it's for a reason, guess it's BLTN case. ;)

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Yeaaaah I did notice that bad_coder is throwing a lot of really old stuff into the close vote queue. I dunno how to feel about that. Sure, there's a lot of really old stuff that's SO-specific that got put here during the Meta SO <-> Meta SE split that probably could be hunted down and closed, but we've been doing fine just closing them as they appear organically.
They're also tidying up duplicates which helps, but I dunno.

3:57 PM
@Spevacus well at least closing does not bump, so that's fine-ish.

Hey Catija bumped in here, hows life treating you @cat?
@SmokeDetector k

8:04 PM
@Luuklag Not bad. Getting ready to take vacation next week. :)

@Catija Nice, got any plans for vacation?
Mine is in 2,5 weeks, really looking forward to taking a brake

A long flight. :P

Ah we got a long drive planned
But downside to vacation closing in is tieing up all lose ends, so extra work now :/

Not looking forward to a long day on a plane with the little ones but... should be fun at the end. :P

@Catija How old are they again? We once flew to the US with our daughter, she was half year old then. Was pretty okayish

8:08 PM
Almost 6 and 3.5
I'm hoping they play with their iPads until they fall asleep. HAHA

@Catija Ours can last watching a tablet darn long. They start to look like zombies after a while

Yeah, we have ours set to lock up every so often so that they need us to unlock it and the response when it locks is... scary and loud. Trying to train them to react calmly to it shutting down.
Fortunately the planes have chargers for everything now.

@Catija yeah thats really great these days. Noticed in trains too last time I was in one of those

Oooh, nice, we'll be on trains a lot, too.

which direction your heading?

8:13 PM
The island nation north of you where I already speak the language. :P

Looking to escape your own summer heat?
To a place where it's always rainy

Yeah, England doesn't actually look that bad but we're going up to Scotland for a few days and it looks overcast, cool and a bit wet... but I really need to get away from the 40c days.

I've been to Florida, and I must say I dislike the 40+c days there less then the 30+c days here.
Probably due to a different humidity
Good you caught that one @Spevacus, I just saw a typo in jeffs answer while looking for dupes

@Luuklag :)

8:30 PM
@Catija "HAHA" being the boundless optimism that keeps us moms sane :P

@curious goes for dads too ;)
And i could really use some sane-ness these days

@Luuklag I'm currently rabbit-holing for the SO blog's license.
It used to be CC-BY-NC-SA meta.stackexchange.com/q/31726/622284 but... Now the footer of the blog doesn't mention that, so I dunno

@Spevacus probably all rights reserved these days

Looks like it

@curious Heh. Yeah. :/ The "sleep" part is the bit I'm really hoping for.

@Catija you got any luck with the time your flying then, or not?

@Luuklag Flight leaves in the evening, local, so maybe? But "new" things tend to keep them awake, so not sure whether they'll fall asleep or not.

Well at least you got a chance they'll sleep. Not like taking a 8 am flight or something.

Yeah. And it's direct, which is nice - so less time in transit.
The planes usually dim the lights so people can sleep, too - so that may trigger their internal clocks to settle down.

8:57 PM
@Luuklag definitely!
@Catija have they flown before?

@curious Not for a while - They went to NYC with me in Feb 2019 but they haven't flown since the pandemic - so Gus was only ~4 months and Bennett was 2.5?

9:28 PM
hey
been inactive

9:54 PM
@Catija I hope the novelty factor doesn't rev them up too much ^^' good luck! Have a safe trip!

@curious Thanks! We're looking forward to it. Trying to under-schedule things so that we can add more rather than feeling like we're constantly pushing to get to everything on the schedule and not having time to rest.

!!/coffee Luuklag

@curious brews a cup of cappuccino for @Luuklag

thx @curious can really use it. Just finished my last cup.
Such great fun taking on a time sensitive assignment, and then your colleague falls ill

10:07 PM
anyways, its past midnight, I better get some sleep. Got plenty of hours to drive tomorrow.
