@JourneymanGeek As in Jupyter?

@DavidPostill thanks, belatedly! (-:

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Whaddya mean, 'wut'? Humans...

heh
Now that @balpha is staff again, he doesn't have time for us anymore. cry
!!/summon balpha

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar No such command 'summon'.

9:06 AM
For a question with the title "I work from home as a software engineer and my job is happy with my performance. But I'm putting in little effort. Am I a bad person or employee?", I didn't guess it was posted on this site...

they should get a second matching job and make double the money xD

@MetaAndrewT. SE accepts such a long titles?!
Anyway might fit as psychology question
If someone is doing bad things, does it make them a bad person? etc.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar no.
Well, I just lied. I guess it makes me a bad person :(

@MetaAndrewT. spanking @Meta for being bad boy
watching out that @SPA isn't around to press the red button

@SmokeDetector f

9:18 AM
@SonictheSaveUkraine-hog uhhh, I'm currently running a music player, an RSS reader...

9:48 AM
@JourneymanGeek gone

1 hour later…
10:53 AM
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar I feel summoned

Haven't found the diamond stash yet Balpha?

So, how's your new work place? @balpha
@Luuklag who's Balpha?

the superior one ;)

@Luuklag I just watched a mandatory anti-bribery / anti-corruption training and I think diamonds are above the value limit

11:04 AM
lol
BTW, you still have the poster?

@balpha hahaha

yep, it's right behind me

yay! And we get bonus of up-to-date selfie. :P

there's a little more gray in the hair

@balpha hopefully only natural causes, not from stress? :)

11:12 AM
who knows

11:27 AM
@balpha Only if it comes with a hat. If it comes without a hat it's a big drop in value.

@balpha ._.
Y'all went pretty full corporate ._.
(and heh, APPARENTLY I am due security training at work ._. )

well we're selling enterprise software, compliance trainings usually come with that 🤷

@JourneymanGeek easy: don't stick your password on the monitor. Training done.
:D

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar ah so....

@JourneymanGeek oops. You do it, aren't you?
;-)

11:30 AM
I basically put it on "silent training" so slides only, skip all of it, and answer the questions
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar naw
they don't follow best practices

@JourneymanGeek oh lol. Nasty!

the training says "Very long, unique password" with no need to change every 90 days

@JourneymanGeek yeah that's not good as it leads to people storing it in insecure locations

In reality, I have about 30 different logins, some of which change every 90 days
(though for servers, I went yolo and just set key based auth since we had a script that sets it up en mass)
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Password manager for non airgapped systems + windows hello FTW

@JourneymanGeek Oh, same! Yours sounds better than ours though :)

11:32 AM
@JourneymanGeek key based? As in such a key?

@JourneymanGeek I have 30 different logins but all with the same password XD :P

@Tinkeringbell oh, they're all the same password
and we reset them to default if they expire

@Tinkeringbell hacker's heaven! ;)

We have TFA anyway

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar There isn't much in there that I can't stand to lose :P The company would probably disagree but meh :P
If a hacker wants to fill in my timesheets each week, please do!

11:33 AM
lol
@Tinkeringbell I feel your pain
Oh, and since I also work some weekends and public holidays
I have the extra fun of not being able to put in a day off, if I take a day off on a public holiday
so I just set it another day
tho at least the current time sheet system dosen't need me to log into a VPN

@JourneymanGeek many say it's broken and not good, but guess no better alternative yet.

and then I had 2 timesheets systems both of which I needed to fill up, I lost access to one, and... no one bothered for a year.

@Tinkeringbell source code with remarks? ;)

My boss found out, asked HR and... crickets
so... I have no idea why I was even filling that one out
@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar While my work DBs have value, I am sure anyone sane looking at our code will be in a nice padded room, with the latest in strait jacket couture, drooling slightly.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Meh, our remarks aren't that intelligent. "Don't touch this!" mostly :P
My favorite is 'I know there's a fancy notation for this, but as it makes stuff unreadable, don't use it' :P
My coworker changed it to commented out code with the fancy notation under it, and a comment "For the next noob, this is what this code does: " XD

11:41 AM
@JourneymanGeek I have no doubt in that! :D
@Tinkeringbell lol

12:20 PM
@JourneymanGeek we are just in the process of migrating from client side logins on local machines, to 2-step with microsoft, so they can push a pasword policy to local machines as well

@Luuklag so primitive. The future is planting a device inside the brain, and have it verify your identification whenever and wherever it is needed. :P

Luuklag maybe review your FP on metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/367971?
still up (since 2019!) FWIW

@tripleee looks legit enough for me not to be spammy

okay, thanks for checking

12:35 PM
I'll let it sit a while for others to review as well.

@Luuklag We can't I think
Airgapped machines

All those CEOs on LinkedIn claiming they can find the right candidate in a five-minute conversation? Wrong. Science shows us how we can do better.

@Feeds would be ironic if the author was hired via a 5 minute interview over coffee. ;-)
@JourneymanGeek poor machines... how can they breathe?!
No wonder they end up rebelling in most SciFi movies/novels.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Well the science is doing exactly that :P

2:24 PM
Hm. Are these two questions meta.stackexchange.com/q/378942/622284 and meta.stackexchange.com/q/378914/622284 actually promotional? The user was suspended on SO for a year for promotional content, which makes me suspicious, but it's pretty crappy spam if it is indeed spam.

@Spevacus Hmm. I'd probably whack them with a modified 'question banned user on SO asking programming questions on MSE' before suspending them for promotional content here too :P

Thanks :)

@Spevacus pure, raw, spam, for some crappy database. No idea why people engage with the spammer.

Their first question (this one) didn't jump out at me. The second one kinda seals the deal, though.

2:27 PM
Should be nuked as spammer, but year suspension also works, I guess.
@Spevacus yeah, well, there are many kinds of spammers, but they're still spammers, trying to promote their product, or what they're being paid to promote.
Anyway, spam coming from this profile in 3... 2... 1...
Or even more likely, already spammed but wasn't nuked or suspended yet.

Nothing in Metasmoke from them. Unsure what to add to a watchlist either since "Kingbase" is mentioned on SE elsewhere in a pretty legit way.

@Spevacus found only one using se.com search, you found more?

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Just a couple more: stackexchange.com/search?q=Kingbase
Nothing crazy. Some of them are mostly irrelevant, others mention it in passing.

@Spevacus oh, I ignored the results from chess, as I don't think they're related to database.

Yeah it mentions it as a "Chess database"

2:41 PM
ohh
Well, spam can promote legit products as well. ;(

2:58 PM
wait, you don't have 10k on SO
but those are all posted by users with the same suspensions as stackoverflow.com/users/18306056/nimo

3:14 PM
@Spevacus Oh, I hadn't done yet, see Glorfindel's messages he was still looking into stuff ;)

@Glorfindel huh. Bad spammer confirmed again.
So have to add to blocklist.

@Glorfindel I'll take your word for it :) Thank you for looking into it :D
