Wait... semi automatic?
You mean setting H-L ranges/setting a gear on a automatic?

3 hours later…
@Feeds Building out a managed Onebox service is a bigger job than you think

@VoteDukakis Well, you're already calling mathematicians, so it would be kinda redundant

1 hour later…
6:09 AM
@M.A.R. I'm just a shady shadow

@JourneymanGeek I mean going from full automatic to having to manually shift gears, but not having to use your feet to do so.

@VoteDukakis yeah he was SE staff back then, boss of all CM's. This was posted to boost the site, and he was pretty much successful.

^ Except mine doesn't have flappy steering wheel thingies but used the same kind of stick you would to shift gears in a normal car.

Yeah, my A3 doesn't either.
In that you move the knob sideways from D to switch to manual mode, then move it up to increment your gear and down to decrement.
The pedals are the exact same as in an automatic.

6:20 AM
@SonictheSaveUkraine-hog Yep, that's how I managed to get mine to accidentally shift from full automatic to semi-automatic. Was fiddling with the radio and bumped into the stick.

When I lived in Austin I used to drive Ford cars, and they had this feature without me realizing it - in those, you select gears by pressing buttons on the side of the knob, which doesn't move sideways. They later switched to paddle shifters

mmm wonder why Smokey didn't cast flags on that

@Luuklag what flags and why?
No links. No blacklisted stuff.
That said...

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar User blacklisted (1196168 on meta.stackexchange.com).

@Luuklag That's a good question, it should have: metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/366883/flag_logs

Would likely spam again in 7 days so better catch it.

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Nah, that hit a bunch of blacklisted stuff: metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/366883
Oh wait, it's probably because it was edited.

10:15 AM
@RyanM it's empty. Admin only stats?

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar Is there an "Eligible Flaggers" link?

@RyanM yes, no idea what it is though.
The list is empty.

Even after clicking it?
At any rate, it's possible that it's something privilege-gated. There are plenty of eligible flaggers.

@RyanM no, before. The list with captions "User Post Result".
After clicking there's list of names, still no idea what it means.
Other users can't flag?? Makes no sense.

It means those users would be eligible to have autoflags cast on their behalf on that post if it were made now.

10:19 AM
@RyanM lucky users :D
takes away flag from @M.A.R.
@RyanM but Smokey also detect edits.

Yeah, but we mostly don't autoflag edited posts (to avoid red-flag nuking a vandalized post, for instance).

@RyanM ohh, I see.

10:47 AM
returning spammer, though this was their first post today: serverfault.com/a/1101198

11:05 AM
@RyanM well then smokey has become less effective recently, since new users don't get the grace period for edits anymore

@Luuklag That change makes Smokey considerably more effective, because previously the grace period prevented Smokey from noticing the post at all after a grace-period edit unless it was manually reported.
At any rate, we'll probably need to tweak the rules a bit there to adapt to the new system.

11:34 AM
Ah okay, perhaps set the rule like edits in the first 10 mins since creation are auto flaggable or something

Yeah, that's what I was thinking (well, I picked 5, but maybe 10 is reasonable)

12:10 PM
@Tinkeringbell We were allowed a cheatsheet for my quantitative methods class. I really pushed the boundaries on that one. Crammed a fairly detailed summary of everything on one page in 3pt condensed type :D

@curious You can read 3pt fonts !?

At some point, the limitation becomes the quality of the printer.

It depends on the font! That's where being a type nerd comes in handy. If the countershapes (holes) are big, it's much easier
and printed in laser is much more precise than your typical newsprint
I got a lot of practice by cramming academic papers on as few sheets as possible to be able to read while I commute
It might have been 3,5 or something... Point is, it was small :)
I think they started specifying a minimum point size after that :D

12:59 PM
@curious So which one did use? (I'm too lazy to compare a bunch of fonts just in case it comes in handy later :P)

@nobody Bell Centennial - originally designed for phonebooks :)
or at least I think that was the one, it's been a while

Cheatsheet font! :D

1:22 PM
@curious I did this when I retook strategic management. My entire answer was cribbed off the internet
Think I was more playing tricks with boxed bits of information tho

@ShadowWizardSaysNoMoreWar So was Abby aka hairboat, which further raised the profile of the issue. Hm, where does the hairboat float now...

user302202
> I used to work for our Stack Overflow overlords, helping folks decide what to have for lunch. Back then, if you had a recommendation you wanted to share, you could email me at abby@stackoverflow.com. If you do that these days, be advised that I won't get it (and someone else might).

user302202
Are they reusing email addresses of former employees or what

@VoteDukakis One way to find out...

@VoteDukakis I doubt it, but they probably have a catchall

user302202
Ah. Forwarding the emails of former staff makes sense.

I didn't even notice hairboat sailing away, but then again I'm not around much

I was going to say this is a very efficient edit but somehow it's 244 chars? meta.stackexchange.com/posts/342669/revisions

Without looking, I'm going to guess that none of 2019-inspired SE alternatives went very far.
Back when Web 2.0 was young and impressionable, a small group of people with a good idea could make a lasting impression on it. Not so much now.

@VoteDukakis Some are still chugging along, if not the largest

it's important to remember that while SO is large, it's certainly not something that everyone in the coding community uses or even knows about.

@VoteDukakis This lists Juan M as a CM but I noticed that he doesn't have a diamond anymore and his name was edited out of a different post

Q: Who is on the Community Management Team, and what does it do?

jcolebrandThe members of the Community Management Team (sometimes referred to as the Community Team or CMs) are employees of Stack Exchange the company, but not all SE employees are Community Management Team members. When visiting the profile of staff members there is an orange label indicator of that on t...

@curious fixed

I wasn't sure if he was still employed but maybe in a different role

seems like people who publicly interact with meta tend to move on often
whether to another role or otherwise

@curious not as of march 2022

6:35 PM
@Mithical 6 years at SO... time flies! O_o

6:49 PM
i joined almost 12 years ago, O.o

@KevinB I tried pasting the toilet icon in the search field for science and noticed that it'll soon be four years that you've been posting them here ;)

👍
