Ah yes. First post of the day! :)

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 I'd say this question you closed is not a duplicate. The thing in the target you chose is a different thing, users getting a ban re-imposed even if their future flags after a previous ban are marked helpful. The thing this question is talking about is different: hitting a first flag ban because a lot of your previous flags were suddenly declined, which immediately pushes you into ban territory from zero.

@Shog9 The changes to the flagging UI are great. There's one thing, though, that I wanted to address. Since the system only considers the handling time of the flags, and doesn't in any way consider the actual flagging time, it's possible that if flags are allowed to linger for a while before being eventually declined, the user can be banned from flagging without any sort of warning.

LinkedIn likes spammer, in Dutch (SD report) webapps.stackexchange.com/q/160660/43276

@tripleee Opgeruimd staat netjes ;)

Google translate seems to be failing me, but thanks (-:

"tidy is/looks neat" :P

it wasn't too far off then

It's not something that translates well, it seems :P It's something you can say when you tidy things up by throwing them in the bin (or swiping them under a rug, or a bed...)
If I use a site that takes context into account, it seems to be as much as 'good riddance'

10:44 AM
makes sense, thanks for providing context (-:

No problem! I often find it interesting to look for differences like this :)

just as the previous one was cleared out, they spammed again:
well, Facebook instead of Linkedin, but same junk

Flagged... Tempted to scold them in Dutch too, but they're not likely to read it anyways :P

11:05 AM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog sorry I don't understand the difference. Both ask for a warning before being banned from flagging. If you can explain better, please cast a reopen vote, add this as comment, and others can vote to reopen as well.

This room lack some love, let's add it! Early bird for Valentine's Day. :D

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Or late worm....

@Luuklag No!

@Luuklag ?
@JourneymanGeek yeah it's lacking the year lol
Luckily it's not missing here where you actually order the tickets. :D

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 And for today's dose of silly news: english.alarabiya.net/News/gulf/2021/12/08/…

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 It looses little in the translation, this is our equivalent:
Except one is clearly better.

@Tinkeringbell :D :D :LOL

Yep, that was about my reaction too :P

How did you get to read it? Was mentioned in your local media?

Yep :)

@Tinkeringbell haha why not

@Luuklag I like the knot :)

12:05 PM
@Luuklag so either one double hitter, or two who didn't cast spam flag. Right?
@Tinkeringbell what knot you talking about? :/
@Rob huh! Well if "our" singers were younger, it might have been actual equivalent. ;)

Rob
No one wants to see elderly woman concert for Valentine's Day.

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 It's a secret :P

Rob
If they played the Tuba your two could bill themselves as Tubastank.

12:53 PM
@Tinkeringbell can I ask you for a favor in a private room? Nothing urgent, may be useful info but using the contact button on the site... will be probably lost forever in bureaucracy

If it's not urgent... it'll have to wait an hour or two. I'm just about to start a series of meetings for work :) I'll make the room when it's done.

@Luuklag Twice as good/bad:

@Rob whatever you like, I honestly don't mind, just the pic reminded me of these funny youtube videos back in the day.

Been reading up on optional chaining, its quite an intelligent piece of logic really, makes code readability a lot better

If x isn't unset, return y ;)
else, I want x!
I don't know. I used to use similar syntax often when programming java, for if/else statements. But since I started magik, I'm so used to not using that anymore, that it always takes me longer to parse...

Rob
@Luuklag There are plenty of articles positively promoting it as a good choice, even for 2021. I think it is outdated and never popular, unlike the mullet. :)

@Rob Always +1 for a mullet

2:58 PM
Wearing your hair in a bun is one of the few ways to avoid massively tangled messes though...
It's also much easier than braids, so I almost always wear my hair like that.

Except you don't have a Y chromosome xD

Haveth thou not heardeth of the man-bun?

@Luuklag Which usually means my appearance isn't allowed to be practical, so why would it be different this time round? :P

@Tinkeringbell Because I object to man-buns, not to buns xD

Stil.. man-buns are practical

3:12 PM
@Tinkeringbell meh cutting is more practical

Isn't... you'd have to get an appointment, take time out of your day, spend time sitting there while someone cuts it... :P Or get a trimmer, take time to do that... :P

@Tinkeringbell or, if fat enough, a chonmage...
@Tinkeringbell pretty sure that if we check LifeHacks there will be at least one reply that suggests a faster way involving fire.

@Tinkeringbell only 20 mins - half an hour every 3-4 months, instead of re-doing your bun several times a day...

@Luuklag XD you need to learn to make better buns. Mine last the whole day XD

yours isn't a man bun xD
And in order to learn that, I'd have to wait 6-8 months for my hair to grow...

Rob
3:21 PM
Practical and easy-care, also outdated: Curls and Crimpers

wow, how 80s/90s is that

Curls can be some of the worst to take care of
I had a classmate that used those crimpers in primary school, her hair was so damaged by the time we went to secondary...

So I made this report, which points out a pretty benign bug (lil icon mixup, whoopsie):
5
Q: Followed posts displays a "Q" icon even for answers

doppelgreenerThere's a minor bug with viewing followed posts on your own profile: posts get a Q icon whether they're questions or answers. Here's a screenshot from when I view that section in my own RPG.SE meta profile: The second post is an answer. It links to that answer, and it displays the answer's score...

And then I noticed that your followed posts tab displays the bug in full — instead of displaying the answer, it displays the question, along with the question's score.
I'm not sure whether I should edit the post, make a new one covering the followed posts tab specifically, or bring this to a report on the big meta Q about this I missed.
I'm inclined toward the second option, but maybe this belongs on the big meta Q.

i'm... pretty sure that's been reported a few times
in one way or another

that might mean option 4, don't worry about it since it's almost certainly already reported? :D
which i'm fine with

i don't think this specific one has been, i can't find it, but I'm pretty sure it's the same problem as Answer list showing queiston score, answers showing accepted if the question has an accepted answer regardless of if the answer was accepted, etc
the queries being used to build the lists aren't pulling the information necessary for the given lists
the Q instead of A bit i've definitely seen before, but it may have simply been a comment

5:39 PM
it is Xmas again, and like every year that one guy has to go on nightmare fuel IOT paranoia, Xmas presents edition...
A very smart idea to have the children toy phone connect via bluetooth to an exernal app - probably without any security involved.

who needs security
they're kids, they have nothing to hide

...no, but people connect to these devices and talk to the kids.

@KevinB Who doesn't?

@Mithical I assume it was a joke. I hope it was a joke.

;)

5:51 PM
@KevinB just want to point out that horrible stories already happened with similar toys in the past. And it doesn't stop stupid companies from releasing new ones

6:13 PM
I'm not seeing SO in This user's "community" sidebar, despite it being the community in which they have the second most rep. Can anybody else reproduce?

6:26 PM
@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica Yes. But click "View all" displays SO FWIW.

6:43 PM
@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica Quite weird. I assume they used the "Hidden Communities" feature, but it still doesn't fully adds up.

Looks like a quirk with account merging, if it's in fact merged?

Mine is indeed a merged account.

My guess would be that the reputation was gained by a fake article (according to the reputation tab on the activity page), but idk.

And if the difference is because mine is merged and their isn't.... I just got a new superpower.
Added to the ability to log in chat as a separate account that can't no longer be tracked to the main site one.
