Yet the moderator disputes the flag. It is a seed, self-seeded, written (asked) only to promote what was originally asked.

@Rob the survey? I agree. Spammer made more effort than usual, actually adding something that sounds relevant and on topic, but it's just for the profit.

Rob
True. Pure seed.
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Nowhere near as good as this:
and that's pigeon food.

7:24 AM
@Rob and Shadow's food! I love it. Though what we have here is bit different, let me look...
Different shape, but looks like same ingredients? (mainly sesame and honey)

Wait, wrong ingredients...

7:59 AM
@MetaAndrewT. tofu?

Chicken bits?

Whatever Google Images Google Lens says :D
but yeah, it's deep-fried tofu

@MetaAndrewT. fake chicken ;)

Rob
8:17 AM
Look like des balles poulet

I once made eggplant shnitzels.
Looks like the original, tastes... different. My kids weren't happy. :D

8:35 AM
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 we loved those as kids
cut long strips of eggplant, coat in flower, eggwash and breadcrumb, then fry in pan
delicious

@Catija Cute art on the surface hiding eldritch-level world building? That is not Ito. That's Akihito Tsukushi -the one who made Made in Abyss.

@Luuklag exactly! :)
@Luuklag tell my kids.... :/

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 it can be a bit mushy, I guess kids aren't all into that
especially not when you expect pork
or veal

or...
(which makes Wii game "Fragile Dreams" seem happy by comparison)
As for Ito, @Catija... nothing he draws is even vaguely "cozy art".
Even the not-horror, slice of life comic he made about his cats... share the same art style as everything else he made.

8:51 AM
@Luuklag not sure, it also tastes very different.
@Luuklag chicken, in my kids case.
They can eat veal schnitzel too, but prefer chicken.
lol not vile :P

very vile of you to trick them into eating eggplant ;)

@JourneymanGeek It is not like he don't manage to make even the comic about the cats unsettling...

......
Point

Comma

and this is just the less-unsettling things.

Rob
9:01 AM
Es ist Schitzel.

@Rob JAWOHL

9:46 AM
?**_**?
!!/JAWOHL

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 No such command 'jawohl'.

10:27 AM
@JourneymanGeek this user would make @Shog very happy. Finally, this is a dating site.
Jokes aside, nuke.

@SPArcheon what user?

@SPArcheon what user?

Anyone watched The Eternals? Is this really as bad as the reviews claim?
@SPArcheon what user?
:D

snort My avian co-mod is on a roll

Ssst! That was a secret.

10:38 AM
(nukes a post while she's distracted)

Nuked one too, so I'm still winning this.

(I suspect this is somewhat like the LOTR scene where legolas and gimli are counting how many orcs they killed)

orca? XD Never seen those in that movie :P
You sure you're not confused and thinking of "Free Willy"? :P

Other orca, twin ducted fans, fired rockets...
Apparently Sauron raided a GDI depot

Could've been interesting XD

10:47 AM
Actually, with slightly more 'contemporary' weapons, is roughly the plot of GRUNTS!
Which is a very strange book

Sounds weird XD

@Tinkeringbell not more weird than "Free Willy" when said by someone like me, out of context. ;)

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Well, better Free Willy than Moby Dick....
2

@JourneymanGeek Read "The Last Ringbearer"
also

@JourneymanGeek just add 's and..
Richard Melville Hall (born September 11, 1965), known professionally as Moby, is an American musician, songwriter, singer, producer, and animal rights activist. He has sold 20 million records worldwide. AllMusic considers him to be "among the most important dance music figures of the early 1990s, helping bring dance music to a mainstream audience both in the United States and the United Kingdom".After taking up guitar and piano at age nine, he played in several underground punk rock bands through the 1980s before turning to electronic dance music. In 1989, he moved to New York City and became...
:P

11:00 AM
@SPArcheon the russian story that had LOTR from the perspective of Orcs as a technologically advancing group of humans with bad PR?
I think I've read it

@JourneymanGeek Yep, that one.
Title: "We never heard of Nadia before"

11:56 AM
$20 for a pizza. Yay or Nay?
@Rob what says you?

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 I can't read the text, but I just had Domino's

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Not Rob, but that's a ridiculous price for a pizza...

12:28 PM
@MetaAndrewT. huh! :D
@Tinkeringbell I agree! But many still buy.... :/

Well, things are usually worth whatever fools want to pay for it :D

>_>
I'm pretty sure its like 4-5 bucks of stuff... at moooost
and its square.

@JourneymanGeek That doesn't matter if fools pay $20 for it, it's worth 20 :P

True :D
(then again, new place plans include making pizza :D )

Yeah, they take so much just because they can, aka greedy.

12:32 PM
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 economics...
its what the market can bare

@JourneymanGeek or can't, even basic food cost a lot and some can't afford it.

._.
Yeah
but that's a sign that the socioeconomic system is a word rhyming with ducked.
But just as likely, what they can afford is unhealthyish
and worse
"Poor people eat unhealthy! Why can't they ...."
and it turns out its what they can afford
In a lot of ways society has always failed its poorest
We aren't that far divorced from feudalism, only our robber barons wear suits, and our mad kings don't wear crowns.

@JourneymanGeek I always find this a bit... incredible. The biggest bills I have for food shopping is when I buy a bunch of junkfood because guests are coming. A week's worth of healthy food, I can manage for 30~40 euros. An evenings worth of junkfood and soda's for a few (say, 5-7 so it's comparable with the week of food) people can easily costs 50.

12:51 PM
@Luuklag gone

@Tinkeringbell Maybe its a US thing? :D
If I buy at a local wetmarket and the co-op, its actually fairly ok

@Rob gone

healthy stuff is increadibly expensive in the US
you might end up paying 1-2 USD for an apple
here I buy 5 kg for eur3

and stuff in cans lasts

@JourneymanGeek Dunno. I think there's complaints about it here too. At least, there's been talk about how 'healthy' or 'biological' stuff is almost never on sale.

12:54 PM
same with other packaged stuff

@Luuklag How many apples do you eat?!

(I mean, given an option, I'd buy non perishables in semi bulk for a month, and buy perishables .... often... We do weekly here)

(If I have 4, they can last me 2 weeks XD)

@Tinkeringbell There are many doctors

@Tinkeringbell we're a family of 5 ;)

12:55 PM
@Luuklag Ah, yeah, that's true :P

Rob
Thanks.

Same thing, potatoes are also cheap here, and reasonably healthy, depending on the way you cook them

Rob
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 2 or 4, twenty is way too much.

@JourneymanGeek Weekly shopping is nice, the fresh stuff like vegetables, fruit and meat can easily last that long if stored properly. I do tend to buy non-perishables in bulk, when on sale ;)

@Luuklag BOIL EM MASH EM STICK EM IN A STEW!
@Tinkeringbell We do weekly for greens + random runs
we do also uh
have 4 different sources of groceries

12:57 PM
I mainly use two. If the third supermarket here has great sales, I might add a third.

@Tinkeringbell I let mine be delivered ;)

(Oh, and there's the vegetable/fruit shop that isn't a supermarket, so I guess I'm at 4 too)

And whenever I need something I go bye one of the supermarkets, we have 5 in town.

('Nearby' place for most things like sugar and cleaning supplies, Indian hypermarket for indian stuff, greengrocer (and sometimes the wetmarket) for veggies, and a specialist baking store for stuff like bread flour and butter)

@Luuklag I've been toying with the idea, but for now shopping on my own is working well enough.

12:58 PM
the last - their butter is... a lot cheaper than most places, and better.
Even if you don't buy 1kg blocks

The supermarkets here are close by, so there's no real need for me to pay someone else to do things I can do myself :)

@Tinkeringbell at AH, you need a minimum of 50 per order to deliver

Well if I was on my own, I'd probably take a small cart (or big backpack!) and do grocery runs by train

@Luuklag Yeah. I think the local Plus has a lower boundary, so I'd be tied to that shop then.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_India,_Singapore most of the indian places are there
ugh

1:00 PM
@JourneymanGeek Tricky. If the train is delayed, your food may overheat and spoil while you're waiting?

Can't order groceries, need to see :D
@Tinkeringbell if the train is delayed, we're d00med
Yeah that's a risk
but I don't drive, and taking a uber/grab/cab is pricy ._.

Rob
@Tinkeringbell True that, here's less than 1/4 price, weighs almost a pound and a half, extra deluxe: walmart.com/ip/… - and at U$4.32 it's not the cheapest.

and unlike my brother I do want to cook!

@Tinkeringbell I find the Plus quite expensive here

@Luuklag It's not worse than the AH.
But yeah, Lidl or Aldi are better deals :)
@JourneymanGeek Bicycle? :D

1:02 PM
uh
I don't know how to
+ far + dangerous
On the other hand, in theory I have a train station just outside my new place from... 2028?

Well, fingers crossed the trains won't be delayed then ;)

@Tinkeringbell Go get some japanese to run them

Rob
Food prices are a rip off there: it costs an arm, leg, and a kidney; if you want to eat kidney.

Yeah well I don't know how expensive kidney is over here, I don't eat that XD

@Tinkeringbell not too bad
one of the cheapest meats

1:13 PM
Should eat it more often then!

Nah, don't eat it too often, your body needs time to process the waste

@Luuklag I am told it is offal...

@JourneymanGeek you can eat most organs

@Luuklag its a pretty terrible play on words :D

@SPArcheon nah, I don't think that's what it was.

1:23 PM
@JourneymanGeek lost on me I guess

@Luuklag Isn't that basically true for any food?

@Catija Yeah, I don't agree that much.

Rob
@JourneymanGeek Tripe is worse than offal.

It is true that some Mya works are pretty dark under an appearance of "cute art" but...
That is more of a Japanese anime things in general.
^ yay CUTE ART!
Actually starts with slave camps, people used as living materials to produce magic artifact, talks about a "journey to restore the world" that seems a bad scam at first (you sacrifice to restore the world) and then is revealed to be an even worse scam...
you know... "HAPPY"
Popolocrois Monogatari: cute as it can be. In the end, it goes about a girl who is "slave of her freedom" - so free that she can't be anything else, has to forever travel without ever stopping anywhere to have some friends....

1:43 PM
@SPArcheon I think you're missing it... the implication is that the person is opposed to their art.
Miyazaki is being depicted as a morose sort of person while Ito is depicted as a cute, happy person (on the surface).

@Catija yes, I get that. And what I mean is that I don't think Miyazaki is that of a dark person.
possibly as direct and rude as it can be (see the "procedural animation demo" incident) but dark and gloomy? Never heard about that.
Totally possible that I just didn't read about that mind you.

@Luuklag offal sounds like aweful, and means organ meat?

2:11 PM
Yes
It's quite appropriate. :P
(for the standard American palate, anyway, where it's rare to eat much of that)
@SPArcheon Ah. Dunno. I saw two memes in the same day about it, so if it's not a thing, there's definitely people out there trying to make it one. :P
The point, though, was less about Miyazaki and more about Ito. :) That meme and another one (the one with two guys on either side of a train car and one's staring off into the distance and the other is staring at the wall of a hill)... were the place I heard about Ito at all.
Apparently it's a bus. But whatever.

Rob
@JourneymanGeek It helps to not spell "awful" like "awesome", saying "aweful" sounds like it's full of awe.

3:01 PM
owlfur

@Catija so... dog game?

I like those penguins :)
(but what's with the first one's beak?)

@SPArcheon it will always go right, and duck, and jump

@MetaAndrewT. naaaah... this year I expect at least sliter.io clone.

3:05 PM
@SPArcheon I don't think there's any sort of game planned this year, unless Yaakov is doing something in secret.

Too bad. I loved the egg-hunt type quiz last year!

Will be forgiven if he adds either the Twily or the Klee hat.

That said... that game is amusingly appropriate for the supposed theme this year.

@Catija so it is pets like it was suggested?

Talking about games... has anyone played today's google doodle yet? I can't figure out how to cut the pizza that's supposed to go in 7 pieces....
(and some of the later ones still baffle me too)

3:24 PM
@SPArcheon No.

@Tinkeringbell apparently didn't reach my country :/

@MetaAndrewT. :(

@Tinkeringbell Square slices?

@Catija You only get 3 cuts, and they have to go across the pizza...

do they have to go across the middle

3:27 PM
No

(in such a way that each slice has a certain topping)
No, they don't

well there you go

Sure, don't share your secrets :P

It's hard to get a screenshot.
I just finished level 6 though.
Here's 7:
Though, that one wasn't super odd. The one that needed 7 slices took a minute.

Yeah, I'm not stuck at level 7, but the one that needs 7 slices XD
(which is lvl. 5)

3:32 PM
It was something like this:
(this is the wrong pizza, though, obviously.

The Muzzarrella one?

... It looks so obvious now XD

Yeah, that one.
I'll go sit in the stupid corner XD

Nahhh, it took me quite a few tries to get the cut :/
!!/hats

3:35 PM
@MetaAndrewT. No such command 'hats'.

I got a problem differentiating the topping patterns though!

Hmm. That was easier for me, some pizzas you could see the cuts you had to make by the way the toppings were arranged.

Oh my... the last one....
(just trying to clear all first, but this... ugh X_X)

@Luuklag yeah, here they have "organic" label, it multiple the item price by 6-8, compared to the non organic version. Mind you, I'm almost sure it's the same product, just with a label. :P
(most common: eggs. Also vegetables, fruits, etc.)
You can't really tell the difference.

3:56 PM
🚽

@MetaAndrewT. Yeah, the dessert bits are hard to differentiate.

Rob
4:20 PM
After seeing that, you are forbidden to cut my pizzas!
A slight modification of this, where the pieces are nearly equal sizes, is what is needed:
You can also answer here:
0
Q: Cutting a pie into n equal pieces with fewest straight cuts

Thomas DelaneySuppose we have to cut a pie into n pieces, using only straight cuts. What is the fewest number of cuts we can do it in? When n is even, it is always possible to do it in n/2 cuts: with each cut being a diameter. When n is odd, a similar technique makes it possible to cut it in (n+1)/2 cuts. Can...

5:14 PM

5:34 PM
@Tinkeringbell third one too, and apparently the svg data is "bugged".

5:45 PM
Hadn't noticed the third one, but you're right

6:43 PM
So, anyone want to guess the "theme" Catja suggested? Not that there is much to guess.
The game I linked is just dogs jumping and multiple seasons.
Considering it is still "Winter" Bash... and there are penguins...
It just leaves the dog.
I get it.

Or do you?

Obviously, this means that users get to choose between "Dog" and "Cats" teams, right?

I see no cats :D

@JourneymanGeek if this is about dogs, either they have cats too... or this will be knows as "The great SE '21 Xmas Scandal: SE is not inclusive to cats lovers"
That said, even if they had cats, then parrot lovers will protest.

I don't see an issue there.
And cats probably won't care. Then knock over things

6:51 PM
and hamsters, turtles, fishes and so on...

huh, that's weird.
