@sha, I don't think there is a difference between users that are deceased, or users that are dead to us, as they left SE.
The solution remains the same, do nothing.

11:18 AM
The questions are asking two different things though: the one about handling profiles of dead people is working from the premise that you know someone is dead, the answer there takes an example case of a known, confirmed, suicide of a user.

The recent question is about reaching out to/asking about inactive accounts, without knowing if that person is dead, incarcerated, in a coma, or just enjoying life in the middle of nowhere.
It doesn't really matter why the profile is inactive, but the questions are different: One about handling the inactive profile, and the other about reaching out to an inactive account/ or asking about the reasons one is inactive.

@tripleee It's hanging on, at -12. You might want to flag their other post too: ethereum.stackexchange.com/a/94151/11746

thanks, flagged and reported to metasmoke

^^ gone.

hm
@Luuklag I've had 2 communities where we had a 'loss' - one where we found out soon after, another where we had a user with a tendancy for long absences vanish, and we'd assumed they had lost interest
Doing nothing's often 'right' but hard
And there's certainly a difference to how it affects folks between the last time it was discussed on meta meta.stackexchange.com/questions/38742/… and some recent situations
also lol I remember the question this was about and can't find it

Q: Can I ask question about a great Stack Overflow contributor who is just not active for past several years on any Stack Exchange site?

Asif Kamran MalickWhile going through a post on Stack Overflow I went through the answer and could identify the answerer has a lot Stack Overflow reputation. I sometimes go through people's Stack Overflow profiles out of curiosity. I did it today and noticed that the person's Stack Overflow profile says 'Last seen...

ah right

Hats!

Rob

The 2 is a 2

Not sure what you mean.
Oh, I see.
Yeah... well... get ready to go on a search of crummy art this year.

Is that instead of hats?

6:22 PM
HA. not instead of, no.
Quality of art is a personal preference. My personal preference is for art made by people other than this person.

6:56 PM
@Catija You should just have commissioned Junji Itō to drawn the hats.
(warning: if you don't know who the guy is, it is better to not check. He is called "the Japanese Lovecraft" for a reason)

7:08 PM
cautiously googles
Oh.

Rob
@Catija My point is the lack of a point in that spot, while all other numbers are able to render completely to a sharp point that spot on the 2 is truncated. I'm guessing it's called the "endpoints of the curve segment": designwithfontforge.com/en-US/…
Here is what it ought to look like:

isn't this a repeat

Rob
Are you asking me?, a duplicate of an already posted bug report?

i mean, this exact problem occured before, here
with a similer "meh" outcome

7:39 PM
@SPArcheon I concur

4 hours later…
11:18 PM
@Rob funny how it actually doesn't look as bad circled like that as it does on the site

@Rob Yeah, I said "I see" after. :P
@SPArcheon I only know about them from some meme comparing them to Miyazaki and how Ito is super perky and cheerful on the surface but makes really dark art while Miyazaki is the opposite... kinda morose and dark in person but makes happy and cheery art.

@Catija ._.
Other than the comic about the cats, I think everything Ito's grimdark, and grimmer darker under the surface.
Like having a cheese nightmare with food poisoning

Rob
It's weird that they have a version of the font which renders incorrectly, when I was able to use an online Font Identification site and it chose a font to match that rendered properly; pointing the finger of blame @Unrelated to my setup.
