8:18 AM
@tripleee hi. I'm Ooker who asked you about a deleted post in SO. I'm tagging you here because it seems that this chatroom is better suited than there
Your word: in other news, the math in your profile seems to be off; or do you really rean to say that 8 people in the current world population have internalized oppression? Who are they?
Did you mean the 0.0000001%? It's just an exaggeration. It's more like "most people won't assume that these cases can exist and should have a different approach"

8:41 AM
sure, I can guess what you probably mean, but bogus statistics are prone to distract and reduce your credibility

Rob
That's a better room for that (we're not all 10K on SO), here is MSE, not MSO:
in SO Close Vote Reviewers on Stack Overflow Chat, 19 hours ago, by tripleee
there is a chat room Tavern on the Meta where you might be able to get help to rearticulate your question, or maybe eventually have a discussion about it if and when you manage to distill it to a well-defined topic

Rob
We don't necessarily mind discussing it, we just might not be the most helpful or better place for that.

8:57 AM
I'm helpful
In some cases.
!!/coffee Ook

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 brews a cup of Americano for @Ook

How is giving people toxins helpful?!

@Tinkeringbell keeping them awake
So they can keep posting on SE.
Helpful for SE! ;)

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 sleep-deprived people shouldn't be posting ;)

9:02 AM
@Tinkeringbell so I should have never posted, it's well over 10 years since I slept over 5 hours per night. :D
(these days it's 3-4 hours)
I reduced coffee consumption by about half, so it's closer to 4 now. :/

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 O.o
I'm still hitting 9 each night easily these days. I've got some catching up to do XD

9 was the amount of coffee cups per day for me, now it's 4-5

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 9 sounds about the perfect amount :)

@Luuklag nah
My body started to fall apart

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 so you're a bit like a frankenstein's monster right now?

9:13 AM
@Luuklag yup
removing left leg, attaching it to right hand
throwing right leg on @Ollie
Now it's done. :P

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Bodies are constantly falling apart anyways :P

@JNat That was a good amount of pings :)

9:29 AM
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Nothing duct tape, bailing wire and WD40 won't fix

@JourneymanGeek no WD40 won't attach things
There is this genius flowchart of wether you need ducttape or WD40

Sometimes things that need to move don't
(also, I'd add cable tiles or velcro to that, cause I'm a hieratic)

ah wrong one, they replaced duct tape with something else

Rob
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 We can see where you went wrong.

@Rob He didn't enlist in the navy?

Rob
9:46 AM
None of those people did.

@Rob And if they did they would probably be kicked out because of their sexuality :/

@Tinkeringbell :(

Rob
10:49 AM
@Luuklag Wrong song. - It was the Young Men's Christian Association that objected to being associated with The Village People (who's name implied the people of Greenwich village), the US Navy provided extras and the use of their equipment (seemingly oblivious to the finer details, they simply saw it as a recruitment video; and sought to ride on the popularly of the prior successful campaign), later distancing themselves from the video; choosing "Anchors Away".

11:16 AM
@Luuklag I've superglued the fly to my table. What next?

Fly me to the Table?

@JohnDvorak Should it fly?

well, no, but it's still making noise

Well put the WD40 on top of it ;)

I've freed it. Now it's moving again. It shouldn't.

Rob
11:24 AM
There's a 60 minute handling time, and four hours before it sets up; an additional drop on top would have been sufficient: 3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40066439

11:58 AM
@JourneymanGeek gone

@Luuklag gone

12:13 PM
thx
trying to avoid a backlog this time around?

12:28 PM
@Tinkeringbell :(
@JourneymanGeek I know! :D
@Rob hat, it's always the hat.
@JohnDvorak you missed this article, probably. ;)
@Luuklag or break his record for fast handling? :P

12:46 PM
@Luuklag just didn't need to drop anything to respond to this one right now, I guess

So no juggling 20+ balls today ;)

1:38 PM
Can anyone share feedback on this answer why is it so downvoted and received 1 delete vote?

@JitendraSingh because it is a useless answer. Staff already marked the question even before you answered it.

Aside from that, it's A-51 Discussions, not Area 51 MSE.

At least, that is why I downvoted, and voted to delete it

@Luuklag @Ollie but no staff answered so can't I answer

@JitendraSingh why would they need to answer, they tagged it status-completed, that is all we need to know
You are free to answer, ofcourse. But write a quality answer then.

1:42 PM
@JitendraSingh You can, but it's a bit unnecessary

Something I don't see happening to this specific question.

Oh okay now understood. I have self-deleted my answer now

@cairdcoinheringaahing As for 'you can', that's usually reserved for things that needs something substantial said... Like staff explaining what went wrong, explaining how something makes the current request status completed... not just repeating that the thing is completed.

@Luuklag not yet, at least ;)

It’s time once again for the ritual that I know we’ve all come to love: the quarterly update on Community team projects. This quarter’s projects are constrained by a lack of available technical/engineering resources on our Public Platform team, so you’ll see that we are focusing on projects that don’t require assistance from them.

@Feeds Thankfully we got a onebox for this occasion.

Q: Community team Q4/2021 Roadmap

PhilippeThis is just an FYI: I've just published the Q4 2021 Community team roadmap on the blog (and it's early, even!). I'm taking questions or comments here, or over there. :-)

Ooh, weighted close votes. Interesting!

Certain contributors... 20K users?

2:22 PM
@Spevacus The obesity epidemic has reached close-votes now? :P

@Rob Flagged as link-only question. Oh, wait...

@Tinkeringbell Well closing that epidemic would be nice...

@Spevacus Goes for all ongoing epidemics and pandemics ;)

2:40 PM
Can/should we delete this, as part of the [browser-enhancement] cleanup? Votes there are small, and it's off-topic.

@Ollie Yes, I can. Think it's okay to delete it, it's too old to migrate to stack apps anyways.

@Tinkeringbell nice, thanks. I'll add that to the burnination stats. Animuson has deleted a good chunk as well.
I wasn't sure about this one either; it looks like it could do OK as an FR, but it is tagged [userscript].

@Ollie cross-site?

14 messages moved to Chimney

SO, Fitness, SciFi. Cross-site.

@Ollie it's an unregistered account with a profile only on SO, hence my confusion ;)

3:04 PM
Looks like the other accounts have been deleted; they all 404...

Rob
@Spevacus They've tried to help, mods and staff must stand while working; no sitting down on the job.
It's a standing offer in that it is an offer.... that is standing (that is, it's not temporary and won't end). — Philippe ♦ 31 mins ago

@Ollie nuked that one too, then

@JNat Cool, thanks.

3:54 PM
@tripleee well, it really depends on the readers I guess? Not sure how many people actually find that funny or speaking their feeling, and how many people find that bogus though. I really have no number
@tripleee yes, I though that chatroom was quite inactive, so I tried another room
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 how to tell the bot to say thanks? ;)

1 hour later…
6:03 PM
o/

6:22 PM
It's been a while @Tinkeringbell

Yeah, been busy :) you?

Yeah same here
I finally handed my spaghetti program to a "real" developer
And to a bunch of people for testing simultaniously
so busy catching up with errors found in testing, and at the same time helping that dev to make sense of my spaghetti

Oof! Sounds busy indeed

interesting, i'm in a similar boat, but i won't have to fix any of the errors or help the new dev make sense of it all

@KevinB Lucky you
I'm the sole one that developed this piece of work

6:34 PM
this one was originally developed by another dev, I then fixed it, and later ripped out most of it as it became no longer needed, and now it's a mess of a system that just needs to "exist" for a year or so before becoming completely abandoned

Mine is just developed, and needs to move from Excel/VBA to C#

but it has to move to another server
can't exist here

So you're hoping there is no hidden dependency somewhere ;)

pretty much
it's a node.js project, written in angular 1.5 with loopback 2
all very old shtuff
fortunately the last time i worked on it i locked up all the package versions to future proof it

7:07 PM
Hola
I’ve been finding stackexchange very helpful in my research in the project I’m doing. Wish this place was up say 20 years ago
20 years ago my time

@JcbJoe what project?

8:21 PM
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 putting or booting Linux on my MacBook Pro mid 2028
2018*

cant wait till they reintroduce the MacBook Pro in 2028

Lol
So ami a regular now cause the usual suspects are in chat and on meta all the time

seems like it

8:44 PM
Thanks @Rob
@Rob who re-opend my question? meta.stackexchange.com/q/369958/1059647

@JcbJoe you can find the link @Luuklag mentioned by clicking on the clock icon underneath the vote buttons on a post FYI.

Learning something new everyday

9:21 PM
Which (fairly well known) user normally spends the most time in chat?

probably depends on a few... definitions
for example, does simply having chat up in your browser, but not looking at it all day which would still show you as here as long as you're on the site, counted as time in chat?
the "info" for the room has a list of 'the most active' users
but i don't exactly know how that's calculated

@KevinB what I mean is if I were to say “_______ lives in chat”, who would come to mind first?

9:40 PM
myself, as i'm here 100% of the time i'm here
it's odd
a good objective measure to look at is someone's activity chart
mine for example lists a relatively short period of time, compared to some other users

Okay, thank you.

rene's chart for example shows them here in at least some capacity for a much larger percentage of the day

Rob
10:10 PM
@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica Certainly not me:

11:01 PM
I just realized. Having that gear thing that shows the history exposed people. Is that a good or bad thing?
