1:54 AM
@Rob You're another guinea pig lover? I have five.

2:06 AM
@Mithical For the record, all the CMs on my team have free reign to interact. They are empowered to do what it takes to get their job done, provided they don't get me fired or the company sued into oblivion.

@Philippe This might not have historically been the case ._.

Yeah, I cant' speak to that. But I want to be sure that people know that I haven't gagged the team. They're free to do what they need to.
And today they were actively plotting my murder on Slack. Of course it was in the game "Among Us", but it was scary how excited a couple of them got at the idea.
2

(also, we sabotaged the hell out of a few things the company was trying to do :D )
@Philippe You'd be surprised how often it happens...
I'm sure that there have been conversations about hiding bodies on chat. And cooking. Usually not at the same time :D

Which bit? Plotting my murder? Nah, wouldn't surprise me at all.

Well that sorta thing in general

2:17 AM
When I was at AOL we made a BIG DEAL out of deleting the chat history. I think they were afraid of what they'd find if they got subpoena'd.
Good choice, that.

Ah, you generally don't touch SE chat history ._.

Right. Catija made that very clear. heh

Chat's one of those things that's kinda sacred to old timers, even if the company isn't quite sure where it fits in

I just want to bring extra attention to this answer to my question
1
A: Where should I ask my [marvel-cinematic-universe] questions - Science-Fiction or Movies?

Rob "... guidance on when to ask on one or the other [site(s)]." When a question of which site to ask on seems close between two or more sites and there appears to be nothing indicated to prefer one over the other it may help to examine the data available. In this case it seems neck and neck, but i...

The analysis was a little more than I expected haha

And let me know that if i made that mistake, I'd have to deal with her. And I make it a point not to deal with her. Not when she's angry anyway.
Whoa, @toroid. That is... intense.

2:20 AM
@Philippe Right? Better than I could possibly hope for

Its meta :D
we're a bunch of pedants, in the best way

And here i thought my personal readme file was a long discourse on things nobody needed to analyze that much. I've been bested.

@JourneymanGeek Hah! Amazing

OK, i'm gonna go Jira. and dinner isn't gonna cook itself. See ya'll.

2:47 AM
And I'm going to go to sleep. Just finished a night shift and had breakfast :D

Rob
3:09 AM
@Philippe That must be quite the whistling chorus when the fridge opens.

3:49 AM

@Feeds Why chat should use Onebox from day one
@Feeds like this

Rob
5:16 AM
@toroid We get a lot of questions, most not so close a tie. Your question is a good root for duplicates where people claim that two sites are close for their question; but not as close as your proposed tie for the tag. My answer catalogs most of the questions about how to compare statistics or obtain so-called hidden data, and compiles a few dozen answers in one place. --- It would only have been a matter of time before one of our resident t-SQL experts answered.

5:57 AM
@EkadhSingh thanks for the (suggested) edit, I took it to a bit different place.
@Luuklag monopoly money? lol
@Rob yeah, that's cheap. You win! :D
@Philippe talking about Slack, EA's servers were hacked using Slack, hackers stole cookies of admins, used them to login, and from there stealing 800GB of data were trivial. I hope SE is more careful with the Slack usage...
Now that the company was sold for billions, it might have raised some flags for greedy hackers.
(I mean real hacker groups, the really bad ones, not what we used to have in the past.)
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog yeah that was a pleasant surprise.

1 hour later…
7:14 AM
@ShadowWizardWearingMaskV2 Sometimes that's how I feel about curation generally, but it hasn't stopped me yet :-)

@RyanM that's impressive! However I was never active in closing, "only" reviewing suggested edits. Guess those are quite different.

I have 2554 of those as well, but most of my effort's gone into close vote reviewing, mostly for [android] questions, in an effort to try to help maintain quality in that tag.
Naturally, this also includes the [android-studio] tag, due to people confusing the IDE and the platform...

heh. Well that's important, no doubt.

@ShadowWizardWearingMaskV2 Thats what it sounds like to me.

12:30 PM
@Rob I'm impressed. Neither of my rabbits would do linoleum and they only begrudgingly do hardwood floors. I've fostered and volunteered with rescue rabbits, dogs, and cats and each one is so unique.

@Rosie picky creatures you got

12:48 PM
Rabbits especially are... weird at times. Ours did not ever cross the threshold to go inside, ever if you'd try to tempt her with a carrot. And she had a foot fetish: She'd love to sit under your feet if you were sitting outside, and be petted that way. But she'd never get close to hands, just barely within reach so you could use a fingertip to pet her XD

Rob
1:07 PM
@Rosie The rabbits didn't mind the kitchen so much, as they have large paws and strong rear legs; combined with a high center of gravity and stable gait. If was my Guinea pigs that hated the kitchen's linoleum, and each stair was almost their body length when they were young, but the clicking light box (refrigerator) held cool and crisp lettuce and celery - any objections to surfaces fell in contrast to being first to be fed.

@Rob at least your furry potatoes had a diverse taste. Ours only ate chicory
and hay

Hey hay
Long lung
Black block

hey hay haai

1:27 PM
and this isn't edited in any way, actual scene from the comic.
You know.... "cute rabbits".

Of the Caerbannog variant
also.... "For kids" @Shadow

@Luuklag Okay, if we're doing animal songs: open.spotify.com/track/… :P

Yeah, we better stop now xD

Aww... I have much more like it! :P

1:37 PM
@Tinkeringbell I can suggest some songs with cute candy-colored you-know-what if you like. Those should count as (cartoon) animals too.

Hahaha :P The songs Luuklag and I exchanged just now were a bit more than just 'with animals' :P

@SPArcheon hmm? It's "nature is fascinating" there's even meme generator for this.
(or not generator? Still, known meme :))
listening to @M.A.R singing

@ShadowWizardWearingMaskV2 Also known as "Australian Fluttershy"
Based on the old meme "in Australia everything is trying to kill you"

Aug 31 '15 at 19:24, by inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M
Maybe someone just found out about their singing talent in the bathroom.
@SPArcheon oh, that makes more sense now.

1:54 PM
@ShadowWizardWearingMaskV2 anyway, I will say that again. While the meme about that scene exist, the dialogue is not edited in any way. The scene looks just like that in the original comic.

Rob
2:11 PM
@ShadowWizardWearingMaskV2 A bale of hay is nothing to be sneezed at. They are larger than you expect, and when you cut the strings they expand to an enormous mess indoors; and the smell of hay in your home, while not unpleasant, is odd and a bit overpowering. Truly more trouble than they are worth, as they cost very little; so they are a good deal.
If your pets are newspaper trained, they only use hay for food, a bale will last a year for a half dozen pets.

Not for home usage.
Had a grandfather in a Kibutz, used to take me to walks alongside such hay piles.

@ShadowWizardWearingMaskV2 Had a friend in lower school (4-12y) that lived on a farm, we used to pick these bales up from the field and stack them on top of a shed.
For our pets we always bought consumer sized packs and put them in a plastic bin.

Rob
It's an essential part of the rabbit and Guinea pig diet, which are also not intended as indoor pets - but indoor pets for children is very common. A rare few have pigs and chickens in their home, now that's just crazy. 😀

Yeah, our guinea pigs had unlimited hay, and were fed chicory or tomatoes when we had breakfast/dinner

Our guinea pig was a real pig: it ate everything.
It had unlimited hay, got a portion of food pellets each day too. It also ate all the vegetable/fruit waste, basically... and then it would get bell pepper, or slices of cucumber....

2:21 PM
@Tinkeringbell 2 questions: How many pets do you have? And is the guinea pig a sort of Meta-icon now?
Given that Rosie, Philippe...

@Ollie was... guinea pig has long been dead.

Oh.

I had a parakeet twice (the first one died after a short time, so I got a new one), my oldest brother had a guinea pig, and the youngest had a rabbit.
Currently, no pets here :)

We just got my daughter two fish for her 5th birthday

Rob
@ShadowWizardWearingMaskV2 Never kibitz about kibbutz.

2:24 PM
@Luuklag Oh... we used to have goldfish when we were too young to have our own pets responsibly too.
The last one died sometime during a vacation, and we came back to a bowl filled with uneaten food and rotten fish: Grandma had just been throwing food into the bowl each day without noticing the fish was dead XD

@Tinkeringbell ouch

It was quite funny, actually :P

My first pet was a mouse. He got a big tumour on his jaw and I had to drown him :(

It was a fish, no one was particularly attached to it
@DavidPostill drown? Oof. I'm sure there's more friendly ways to dispose of a mouse XD

@Tinkeringbell It's what my parents told me to do. I was probably 7 or 8 at the time.
We also had guinea pigs, but I can't remember what happened to them.

2:29 PM
@DavidPostill Ah. :/ I think a good parent would at least have done it themselves with kids that age, but I don't know anything about parenting :P
@DavidPostill Oh... ours had some kind of stroke, I guess. It suddenly was paralized on one side, puttered across its cage for a day or two like that, then died minutes before dinner.

@Tinkeringbell Me neither - and no chance of learning as I've been snipped :)

@DavidPostill Hopefully after you decided you didn't want to learn? :P Now it sounds almost as if you'd like to have learned XD

@Ollie Well, we are short a dog...

@JourneymanGeek the one living on SU?

@Ollie Oh, Ash passed on about 4 months ago.

3:04 PM
> A wild green parrot appears.
Tinkering bell is exercising Pressure.
The opponent parrot is too scared to stay in the room.
The opponent parrot uses Teleport.

@Luuklag heh, well that I never done. Glad you had some fun! ;)
@Rob :-D

3:39 PM
@ShadowWizardWearingMaskV2 good practice for your workethic, would highly recommend

4:30 PM
@Rob I found your comment on that ^ wrt to sound confusing as their question talked about elements and atoms. I can see how the principles behind it are the same but can you really use those sound tools to get a spectra for a specific atom? if yes, color me surprised.

Rob
4:44 PM
@rene I took atoms and elements to refer to pure tones and chords, the sound of an atom wouldn't be audible. In any event it's a request for clarification.

Okay, that makes sense. And yes, their question was rather thin to make out what they really needed.

Rob
Depending on the question it involves different sites: music.stackexchange.com/q/6191/57957 biology.stackexchange.com/q/67894/49363
Could be site rec, with incorrect tags.

5:08 PM
@rene This tutorial demonstrates how Melodyne understands vocals and instruments, and allows you to manipulate specific parts with precision.

@Tinkeringbell Nope. Never had the desire to have kids and neither did either of my long term partners.

5:30 PM
@DavidPostill :D
And you're sure you won't change your mind when you're older? XD

@Tinkeringbell lol. At my age (62) - no - even though the operation is theoretically reversible ;)

@DavidPostill Kidding... but it's a remark I get to hear so often! XD

6:04 PM
@Tinkeringbell I doubt David will suffer from the maternal crisis when he turned 40 ;)

@Luuklag Oh that's only when you turn 40? I had hoped to be done with it in just a few more weeks when I turn 30 XD

6:22 PM
Well then it will start, and worsen till about your 40th

UGGGGHHHH XD

Appears that the public platform team has a new employee

I've been trying to rude-flag these. Should I not be?

@Spevacus yup, spam nuke

@Luuklag I'd rather see r/a than spam flags ;)
Because technically it's not spam, it's abusive nonsense :)

6:28 PM
o7 Roger that.

while technically accurate, the end result is the same ;)

Hi, I understand that socks are not allowed to upvote each other, but why is it that two accounts with the same sock master allowed to upvote the same questions? For example right now there seems to be two socks run by the same person, and the account have both upvoted exactly 25 posts this week: possibly the same 25 posts upvoted twice (i.e. once from each account), though never interacting with the sock master account.

@user1271772 No, multiple accounts owned by the same person are not allowed to upvote the same posts (since it's doing something that a single account would not be able to do). I'd suggest raising a custom flag with details about the issue.
