I have a few running in the background. I also have trusted boot and monthly security updates. Never had a problem, unlike with a PC where I'd get hit a few times each year. PC problems are worse in recent years, because the problems are frequently undetectable and use your computer to create problems for others; leaving you holding the bag.

Personally I always recommend people who use Windows to only use the built in Defender.

It's much better than it used to be, and better hardened against privesc than others.

Most ransomware just automatically encrypts data on hard drives and doesn't upload it anywhere. Data breaches and ransomware are quite different.

And anyone who can sell photos of someone's girlfriend or children for a dollar each is an incredible salesman. :D

But unlike ransomware, I doubt those kind of ransom data breaches cause anywhere near a $1.5B loss, especially since they tend to be either much more targeted, or a scam (i.e. they don't actually have any of your data).

@RyanM yup that's because of a bug (?) the image on the profile page isn't scaled at all, it's the original, so the browser is forcing both width and height.

There is request for thumbnail from SE side, for 328x328 size, but it's ignored by imgur. e.g. i.stack.imgur.com/iLXo4.png?s=328&g=1

So either SE should ask for size that exists, or imgur should add such a size.

Until then, images with ratio different than 1x1 will be squeeshy.

(not to mention waste of bandwidth, but that's on imgur side so doesn't matter ;))
