Early meta threads were the best "here's a two line answer".

lol
the network has changed a lot since then
12 messages moved to Chimney

"Changes to the system or to the circumstances affecting the asker have rendered it obsolete." ;-p

Well - people take SO and MSE... kinda wierdly seriously
I mean, we've tightened up stuff, but we've de-emphasised the social aspects of our asocial networks so much :(

@Feeds WAIT. I CAN SEND CHAT MESSAGES IN ALL CAPS WHEN I AM FULLY VACCINATED????????

3:54 AM
For a split second, my new ID went 404.
And said I had only 1 rep, then changed back.

@Rob There's nothing above -O3.
It does something like this:
if (level > 3)
    level = 3;

uh
So Stack Overflow supports the Pentagon now? Gross.

@TheforestofReinstateMonica You should complain on meta
(I'm not actually who I am trolling by that)

I probably will, maybe with a sock so my account doesn't get downvoted by those who are pro-American corruption. (kidding, I know that would be against the rules)
And I'd probably get banned for saying bad things about our government masters. >_>

Controversial reception? Probably. Suspended? Highly unlikely.

5:53 AM
@Mithical Well I did get suspended once for saying that SE actions seemed hypocritical to me, so they seem rather... sensitive to criticism. But maybe this has changed post-Monica.

(Hopefully, since I see SE staff at least recognize there's a problem, which is a good sign)
Oh disgusting, the group SO is advertising has a .mil domain.
And this is why I prefer to stay blackhat. :/

@Rob Good idea. New MSE post: "Programmers sometimes use incorrect gcc options. Help"
:D

o/

morning

8:55 AM
@Glorfindel just to let you know, I used you as an example in my answer on the update review queues: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/360198/…
Always fun to get drive-by upvotes on an old question like this: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/335645/…

@Luuklag That was me. I clicked your name looked at a few posts you made. I liked that post so I upvoted it. :P

okay cool :)

@Luuklag no problem, interesting bug :)

I don't really see it as a bug, more as a poor design choice
This behaviour is intentional

Who is familiar enough with the SO Jobs platform to see if this is a valid answer: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/142585/…?

Looks plausible
though, I really need to update that at some point. I quit that job 3 years ago

@JourneymanGeek That's why your still not a CM ;)
Maybe there is a point in migrating that whole thing to MSO?

@Luuklag I'm reasonably certain the last time I updated that, I'd applied to be a CM :D
@Luuklag too old
ironically, needs a CM :D

Get yourself hired then ;)

@Luuklag not for the lack of effort :D
I've applied twice where I thought I had a great chance, and once just for the hell of it ;)

12:24 PM
@rene may I or do you want me to wait :P

@Tinkeringbell I'm done ;)

Okay, gone :P

teamwork!

Heres another one for you to tag-team: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/361900/…
Hi @g3rv4
All things well with your child?

o/ yup yup, thanks!

12:33 PM
@Luuklag that was resolved by the OP ...

@rene tough luck ;)

12:52 PM
@g3rv4 Good :) Getting the hang of that parenting already?

@Luuklag ... should I answer honestly?
I think being parents is not for everyone... and I'm not convinced it's for us
we're doing our best though, and our kid is amazing
so... you know, hanging in here :P

@g3rv4 Says every new parent xD

@Luuklag lol and when do you no longer qualify for ?

@g3rv4 I don't know exactly, my oldest is 4 and most of the time I still have no clue what I'm doing

@Luuklag sigh

12:59 PM
Well the fear of breaking them subsides after a while, so not all hope is lost

@Luuklag Your 4 year old came the same conclusion ....

@rene yeah more or less. If today my respons to a question is A, and tomorrow my response to the same question is B all hell breaks loose

well, tbh wouldn't you in the same situation?

probably

1:33 PM
Hi Rosie

1:46 PM
sdc alive
you slow smokey

@Luuklag The Tavern is on a 5 minute delay.

@rene Yeah, but it also wasn't replying to my report message
So you don't know if your report came through at all

2:06 PM
@Luuklag it never does reply IIRC?

2:26 PM
Damn that username was too good to be coincedental

Q: How infectious is HSV-1 & 2 respectively, when no noticeable symptoms are showing?

cream_piI wanna know what the latest scientific researches conclude — as I'm sure there must have been some but I couldn't find any on google beyond those "The More You Know" type short articles that are basically in the league of blog posts. I wish to know about all the data, statistics and figures. For...

2:38 PM
:P

It's a bit of an insider joke, but then again not really ;)

2:56 PM
Hi @Luuklag how's it going?

@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog just realized that I didn't post this here :P
here you go, no need to thank me.
And probably you won't want to, either.
(context in the other room)

@Rosie Not too bad. And with you? Enjoying your time at SE so far?

3:37 PM
Yo

4:11 PM
Hello.

Ola

5:03 PM
Any UserScript to ping for new question/activity on meta ?
Search but lost.

Luuklag So far so good. :)

@Shree I have one for a tag: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/250762/… not for the active tab.

Thanks.
@rene Now I am curious how Glorfindel find question before mine :D

Yeah, Glorfindel is in a league on his own.

Best luck to him. Genius meta geek :)

6:15 PM
I could use a hand... I'm sure I saw some rumors somewhere that the warnings before you hit the question ban might not (have been) working right? Anyone know where that was? :P

@rene He even pops up on metas of sites he isn't even active on!
And gives brilliant answers, so yay!

Rob
6:33 PM
@Tinkeringbell Are you asking rene, or is it the usual reason (excuse): stackexchange.com/search?q=question+ban+warning+deleted

7:04 PM
@Tinkeringbell yes, I chatted about that with a CM ....

7:28 PM
@Rosie good to hear. So Meta hasn't eaten you alive yet ;)
It sucks tha we're stuck with small screen widths in review for an indefinite amount of time. meta.stackexchange.com/questions/360198/…

That's unfortunate... But whatever I guess. It took me a little bit of getting-used-to the new layout, but overall I do feel like there were several large improvements in functionality and design after the bugs were fixed.
Much more modern-looking and all that :)

@Rob It's been found now :) So all good :)

@Spevacus Agreed, it is definetly better then the old version. Especially since I do moat of my reviewing on a phone.

7:48 PM
@Tinkeringbell In most cases, it's because they were banned a long time in the past, forgot about said ban, then proceeded to ask today. As their 6-month limit had opened up, they were allowed to ask, but weren't told of the fact that they were banned and that the ban would be reinstated once they'd ask that question. My most recent feature request here asks to address that, you can find more details there

7:58 PM
I've always been a bit curous of the question ban notifications, since i only have negatively scored questions on SO
i've never seen any form of notification, and with 8 negatively scored questions and a 0, with the 0 and one of the negative deleted, and 0 positive questions, surely i'm close or banned already
not that i have any reason to ask a question
If the notification only occurs when you go to ask, and you're allowed to ask once every 6 months, one could theoretically go years, asking 2 questions a year, without even realizing they're qbanned

Rather than dig into complex math or over-simplify by using a pre-written function, we’ll write our own binomial test function, primarily using base Python. In the process, we’ll learn more about how hypothesis testing works and build intuition for how to interpret a p-value.

9:14 PM
@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog I honestly would expect that to already exist, that those warnings would show for each question that instates a qban... But yeah, if there's not that might be a solution

1 hour later…
Rob
10:36 PM
@Tinkeringbell That's certainly been well received, probably worth deciding in a few days if it's far past the line for a tag; if not already.

11:26 PM
@Rob 30+ votes within 24 hours of being asked fits the guideline, I think. If you feel strongly about it, you can flag it asking for the tag
Can someone without editing privileges please suggest an edit to one of my posts, and then others with it review it? I want to see how things look like for post owners when they look at a suggested edit they can override.

@user400654 Those low-quality question/answer bans are really ineffective. They don't activate when they really should, and do activate when they shouldn't.
