@Ollie Weird. I tried by just typing in the alphabet, and I could only get to 30. Even when I tried to put in some spaces.... It did seem short to me, I could've sworn I saw longer...

Is it allowed to toggle a chat room to gallery while the RO doesn't have time to moderate?

No more parties for your covidiot brother @Tinkeringbell

@Luuklag Only when the curfew is actually approved... they still need to debate that Xd

So my brother and I have been planning a late night mcDrive snack drive for tomorrow evening XD
I'm being just as bad now XD

Being a bad girl @Tinkeringbell, didn't expect that from you!

I'm full of surprises XD

I wouldn't be amazed when they decide to close the drive at 20:00

Usually chat moderation relies on having participants in the room flag things if they go wrong, so there wouldn't be a need to make a room a gallery room just because there's no room owner at the moment.
I think before you go considering measures as drastic as that, there's also the option of adding room owners in different timezones and adding redundancy (so that there's multiple room owners from multiple timezones in case one has to work or have a meeting) if the room really needs that much babysitting.
Honestly, it sounds like you're talking about a really, really bad room that should just be permanently frozen.
@Luuklag Might be, if the staff has to be home before curfew starts. But if there's going to be a curfew it'll only start on Friday so it shouldn't be a problem tomorrow XD

@Tinkeringbell true
I hope AH continues deliveries after 20:30

I think delivering stuff was mentioned as an exceptional job? That's why people had a run on PostNL jackets on Marktplaats this morning :P

@Tinkeringbell really? :(

@AnnZen Yeah, rooms shouldn't need a 24/7 room owner to babysit them, if they do, they probably shouldn't exist.
You might want to see this post for example.

@Rob FoG
@AnnZen allowed? If it's your own room then you shouldn't have to ask anyone. Unless I miss something here? @Tink ?

2:32 PM
@ShadowWizardisVaccinating I'm not saying it's disallowed, just that if there's a chatroom out there that requires constant Room Owner attention, making it Gallery when you're not there is probably not the option you should be thinking of to fix those problems.

One time in the past there was a conflict between two users in Den. I was away in vacation so didn't have time to babysit them, so instead I edited the room to be Gallery mode, and gave access to all regulars except those two. Worked like a charm.

@ShadowWizardisVaccinating That's a one-off though, not a constant measure.

@Tinkeringbell true

What I understood was that Ann was thinking of doing this every time she went AFK.

@Tinkeringbell so better just make it Gallery for good, and give access only to trusted users.

2:34 PM
Scratch that, I'm not even sure if Ann is the Room Owner of the room that's being asked about, or that this is someone else doing that to their room, or ....
@Ann can you clarify a bit?

Meta? 😁

@Tinkeringbell Well, a am a RO, but I'm afraid something will go wrong while I'm gone...

@AnnZen it won't
If it does, you can deal with it latet

@JourneymanGeek If a user violates the code of conduct in my room, I'll be half responsible, right?

@AnnZen Okay in that case, don't do this 'toggle gallery mode on-off' thing. Either make a gallery room like Shadow suggested, and only give write-access to people you trust to behave while you're gone, or make the room publicly accessible and if something does go wrong while you're gone, it can be dealt with later, you can ask a moderator to help out if it requires more than just moving messages to trash.
@AnnZen You'll only be responsible if you don't handle the violations after they've happened.

2:40 PM
oh, thanks
@Tinkeringbell is it okay to ping a mod to review a guidelines document of a chat room of the site the mod moderates, or would it be annoying and unnecessary?

I think that would be unnecessary, but that's really something every mod may differ about. Some may be happy to spend their time on matters like that, others have better stuff to do :P

@Tinkeringbell pick your choice then:
:D

Hahaha nice :)
A game I like to play now has parrots too, which is nice!
Everytime I see them fly over I'm like 'yay' XD

@rene I tried 4 links, 2 failed, 2 worked

weird

something is unstable xD

Yeah, maybe SQL Server picks the wrong execution plan in some cases

4:27 PM
@rene sure, 100% failure when trying to view activity of any user with lots of it, even myself.
It loads forever then crash with the "Oops" error.
To be honest, it was always very slow in terms of SO. (over 5 seconds)

IIRC 5 seconds is the CommandTimeout on the SqlConnections. So it was always close to failure

Maybe the new index bluefeet added has vanished?

Same here. Probably our comment count is killing SQL Server again. — CodeCaster 13 mins ago

A: User profile page takes 15-20 SECONDS to load on first load in X minutes

TarynThis should be resolved. After digging into various things, we added a new index and adjusted an existing index specifically for this query. The new execution plan for the query is significantly better and executes much faster for all users. The previous one worked for some users, but not so muc...

@Rob no, she lacks it

I made a document for my room: github.com/Ann-Zen/rvrso/blob/patch-1/README.md
This might not be the right place to ask for tips on SO rooms, but any general pointers will be greatly appreciated.

@AnnZen just wondering why we need another chat room while the existing one already handles it..?

@MetaAndrewT. highly confusing link ....

7:26 PM
@rene ugh, I blame the inconsistency of anchor's behavior on many sites, one redirects to the anchor, and another copies the anchor...
@AnnZen I mean, this room's rules...

8:04 PM
@MetaAndrewT. The existing room doesn't allow reopen requests on posts that belong to the requester.

@AnnZen okay, fair point

8:21 PM
@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog Why did you make that plural? It's a single page, not multiple.

So it's 5-7-5
The first line was only four syllables
And the question mentions "pages" so I thought it was referring to multiple pages
Reading into it, it is multiple pages, if you count the several copies of that page across the network

It's effectively a single page and a single edit. It's just duplicated on each site.

By the way, should my post on publishing moderation histories be changed to now from , or are there still sites where it hasn't been published yet?
