@Tinkeringbell Mostly good, I'm still active in that other community
got promoted in fact

needs one downvote to allow 20k+ users to vote to delete: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/357601/…

@mag Nice!
Good to hear :) Enjoying it?

mag
yeah

@Hugo The point was that I can escalate this to the Community Team, and you'd likely get the same reply in 6-8 weeks: To delete your MSE account and later recreate it, as there's only 1 question attached to it. Your choice, self-deletion is faster.
@mag Want to tell what exactly you're doing there now?

@Tinkeringbell I vote for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes

@Tinkeringbell community manager
well, that's what the role is called, but it's more general management

aw
you beat me to it :D

mag
@JourneymanGeek Not really, it's unpaid
and not on the scale that a real paid CM role is, 85 thousand some members vs like 50 million is a scale of difference

@mag Still a good experience to have though, congrats.

mag
thanks

9:14 AM
@mag eh, its still a position of trust, and you can do good for your community
@Luuklag anyone called jhon is sus

!!/bisect jhon

@SonictheK-DayHedgehog 'jhon' is not caught by a blacklist or watchlist item.

that's a little extreme isn't it? cutting him in two?

mag
@JourneymanGeek It's definitely a very good practical class in conflict resolution
and managing personality clashes, all that kind of meta stuff I don't learn at my normal dayjob

@mag well much like modding writ large

9:34 AM

@Luuklag could custom flag a post of theirs on arqade

Yeah, but this is the easiest way. Will do so.
@JourneymanGeek done

@rene Not really. The explanation made sense, but it didn't apply for my case. It doesn't really matter, tough.

Oh heck. I got like ten badges (Excavator plus Yearling) from editing links to a website whose maintainer didn't set up a redirect from the old host.
I'm not sure how many badges exactly, because there doesn't seem to be a way to show more of the global achievements inbox than the little that the pulldown shows.

1:37 PM
@rene Ah thanks! That lists 3 Yearling, 5 Editor, and 8 Excavator badges.

In theory you could also find/list your badges from SEDE but that is only accurate once a week. And you would need a cross-site query

2:28 PM
@Tink this doesn't look like innocent user posting in the wrong place...
More like spammer looking for free links to spammy profile. No?

Eeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
Very, very borderline so I'd rather err on the side of not destroying it right now.

If it is a spammer, sooner or later they become more obvious ;)

The escort site isn't very borderline. ;)

Well I didn't click any links XD

2:30 PM
Yeah. It's an escort site.
Avatar like that kind of rings an alert bell with me.

Okay... gone ;)

I hate comments that are removed by the time I've written my response. At best I'm now annoying the OP.

mag
afternoon

2:52 PM
yes

@rene Isn't annoying the OP a core reason for SE? :p

@Snow Superordinate goal :P

@Snow Also true. my comment happened to be on your answer, glad I could annoy you ;)

mag
@Snow fancy seeing you here :D

sdc annoy rene

mag
Thats smart

Yeah
Smokey developers are smart. :D

3:00 PM
mag has no happy spines. :(

mag
mag is incognito

... Why? The italics sort of gave it away - unless you're not trying to be incognito in here. :P

mag will be cactus again?

mag
semi incognito

I prefer semifreddo.

3:01 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard *catcus

@Snow good. The OP of that telephony question posted a comment and I went looking for stuff they could have meant, found it, wrote a comment, added links (also so you could update your answer), posted my comment but they already deleted their comment, making mine stale. Meh. You didn't miss much.

@rene if it was useful and directed at OP why not just post it under the question?

mag
Annoyed people have been known to use the full length of their attention span to find places to flame and annoy me
So I'm reducing the attack surface

@mag by avatar reset?

:( Sorry.

3:03 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard I ... rather not interact directly on their posts.

@Mithical need to be cactus first... :)

@rene To be honest, I'm kicking myself for answering that question - I don't think it's particularly genuine.

mag
@Shadow10YearsWizard and shortening the name

@Snow I'm biased. You might not be wrong.

mag
Not too bad, usually just colorful twitter or discord DMs and empty threats

3:05 PM
@Snow spam seed?

Rob
@Shadow10YearsWizard A borderline escort.

I'm kicking myself a bit for editing it if it is, indeed, a seed.

@mag Sounds worse than SE to be honest... haven't had any of that myself :D

@Rob gone with the Tink now

Kinda sad.
@Spevacus Oh, don't worry about that.

3:06 PM
@Spevacus no worry, spam will sprout anyway, and nuked.

@Tinkeringbell are you soliciting stupid twitter DM's?

@Luuklag Only if they're also funny ;)

99% of my DM's on Twitter are spam

I don't even know if I have DMs open on Twitter.
@Shadow10YearsWizard I'm getting a sh*tload of that on Fitbit... but nothing on Twitter XD

Looks like people install stuff that cause auto DM when someone follows their account.

3:07 PM
My Twitter DMs are surprisingly quiet

@Mithical you don't follow enough people. ;)

> 592 Following | 151 Followers

So are mine. But I don't have an account so that might contribute to that

lol
Empty argument is the best argument.
@Tinkeringbell Fit who? ;)

@Mithical Quite busy! I'm at 100 following, 90 followers... and I can hardly keep up with the timeline at times.

3:09 PM
anyway, be safe @mag

@rene +1

@mag well if it helps, it helps.... hope to see you back to full cactus glory soon!

@Shadow10YearsWizard Fitbit... you know, that 'smart' watch that allows Bill Gates to track your every movement? I got one so I didn't need to get a covid vaccine.

*eyeroll*

Saves me from the needles.
@Mithical Careful, they can only roll so far XD

3:11 PM
mine roll farther than most people's... all the way back

I've never actually tried how far mine can go XD I do know if I do it too much, I get tension headaches.

yeah, not everyone can do it
\o @anita

@Shadow10YearsWizard Seems like someone who just wants to ask questions for the sake of asking questions. Smells like they simply tried to find a subject that wasn't really covered by any stack and asked it - probably think that they're helping in a strange kind of way.
@mag 'sup

@Mithical my brother boast how he can move his ears, each ear in different direction

mag
@Snow Good to see you back on SE

3:19 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard I can do that too, it's not hard

@mag Taking a year out helped.

@Mithical figured as much, never looked into it. ;)

mag
@Snow How is 2020 treating you?

@Snow oh, those. Well, it's not really bad.

@mag Healthy, lost weight. Seeing the same four walls every single day for months on end. The usual.

3:21 PM
@Tinkeringbell so you say you get spam messages on a watch?

@Shadow10YearsWizard On the app mostly, spammy friend requests from hookers.

mag
@Snow Thats good, all things considering

@Tinkeringbell at least male hookers? lol

@Tinkeringbell Fellow crochetters? Or the other kind?

@Shadow10YearsWizard Sadly, no.
@Snow The other kind ;)

3:22 PM
oh.. poor Tink.

mag
Imagine getting spam pings by people wanting to share crochet designs

I'd fall for that, hard. ;)
It's called Ravelry btw :P

Rob
Recruiters

Does SO work on a watch?

@Rob Those are the worst...

3:24 PM
@Tinkeringbell - This is a facebook page for a knitting/crochetting group near to where I live - a group called the Barkham Hookers - facebook.com/Barkham-Hookers-Charity-Page-1658962531053527

@Shadow10YearsWizard Didn't Glorfindel at least at one point make some kinda interface with SmokeDetector for a smartwatch?

@Tinkeringbell yeah, remember something like that. :)

@Snow Nice! I have a few craft groups on Facebook still, but I'm mostly just browsing the newest patterns on Ravelry lately. The groups are okay if you just look at the pictures and don't read the posts :P

Rob
@Tinkeringbell I used to get those sort of IMs; deliver packages for a hundred each, buy XYZ for cheap, etc. Difficult to say whose on the other end, just trouble.

@Rob Ah, no... mine were most likely 'real' recruiters, but they clearly didn't look past the gender section of the profile page :|

Rob
3:30 PM
Ah just checked, it's legal there; while what I was asked about was certain not to be had I enquired further.

3:41 PM

Rob
4:12 PM
Just, weird.

mag
@Tinkeringbell Would you like to hear about this position we have open?
And then it's invariably one of a) poorly paid, b) something I have no interest or experience in c) some startup or d) an actually interesting position, but I'm employed now and not looking to switch so why on earth do you contact me.

@mag Mine weren't even that... Mine were 'We're looking for a female to fill this position' where 'position' wasn't even remotely related to the stuff I put on my LinkedIn profile.

mag
ouch

Yeah. I quit LinkedIn after a few months of that.

mag
blights of being a woman in the tech industry I guess

@AnnZen awesome video! You made it?
Does it onebox?
heh, obviously no. :)

@mag Yeah. My advice: Stay clear from LinkedIn unless you want to exploit your role as token person.

mag
4:46 PM
@Tinkeringbell The only way I fit into token categories are things I never talk about at work

@Tinkeringbell you talk about hookers?! Wondered how they recruit, never thought that via smart watch apps. :D

@Shadow10YearsWizard Oh, not recruiting, the Fitbit stuff was people offering their services.
We're talking about LinkedIn now ;)

@Tinkeringbell my LinkedIn got stuck in some foreign language once, still no idea why it happened, lol.

You know, that site where you make a page to sell yourself

@Tinkeringbell oh. Bit better. ;)
@Tinkeringbell about fans?

4:49 PM
No, still LinkedIn ;)

lol
OnlyLinked
LinkedFans
Yes! Better.
On second thought, surely such thing already exists. :D

Perhaps.

Wait.... ... Fitbit... so.. maybe people actually think it's for finding people who fit you, aka dating app? ;)
:(

5:31 PM
Darn scammers.

5:45 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard Aww, thanks. Yes.

6:18 PM
@AnnZen how did you make it?

7:10 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard I used Blender, here's my coach.

7:28 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard and not a bit suspended either, full year
blah you wont onebox

7:57 PM
anyone else having problems when clicking the "answered/modified" X time ago link?
I occasionally end up at a random point on the page

8:27 PM
nope
though you could end up at a random-looking location if the thing that was modified isn't visible to you

9:07 PM
@user400654 Usually that just lands you on the Q itself. And on MSE I have 10+k rep

@AnnZen nicely done. :)
@Luuklag yup but hard to believe it was for posting those images. ;)

@Shadow10YearsWizard haha indeed, the message is quite clear ;)

Oh, and @AnnZen I really liked the video you made for Monica.

@Luuklag well, anchors to answers often do exactly this: throwing me in random place, where I have to look for the answer, or keep reloading and praying the anchor will work. But I always thought it's Chrome getting old and wonky (with age, old features break, it's natural), so didn't post bug report.

@Shadow10YearsWizard happening in FF as well

9:14 PM
hmm
Well maybe because content is being loaded with AJAX?

Last time I looked extra carefull, was question modified by severus snape
The page jumped 2 or 3 times, before landing on the answer

If you say it's cross browser.... bug report is due! :)

sometimes it doesn't do all jumps and ends somewhere in the middle of a comment thread

@Luuklag well, "rule violations" can be almost anything actually.
5 hours ago, by Shadow 10 Years Wizard
@AnnZen awesome video! You made it?

Poo.

9:18 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard I thought it said voting irregularities

🚽

@Shadow10YearsWizard "This account is temporarily suspended for voting irregularities. The suspension period ends on Dec 5 '21 at 7:31."
@Shadow10YearsWizard I think it happens on Q's with lots of answers
Perhaps the next answers don't load quickly enough, so that the anchor can't find what it's looking for

@Ollie p?
@Luuklag oh. Still, can be several things. ;)
@Luuklag after some thought, it might be the images fault. When the HTML itself is loaded, there are only placeholders for the images, with fixed height. Then when the images actually load and displayed, the page "jumps" to make room for them.
Solution is to pre-load all images, but... might make us wait for the content as well.

@Shadow10YearsWizard But does that explain the page jumping two or three times?
@Shadow10YearsWizard yeah that's the downside
and only applies to users on relatively fast connections
those on slower ones won't notice

Well doubt devs will do it, but still worth reporting the failing anchors.

9:37 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard Yeah, not sure how exactly, also time to head to bed. Still working at this hour 2 days in a row aint good
Oh well, I did it anyways @Shadow10YearsWizard meta.stackexchange.com/questions/357638/…
