@Ollie no idea. It's one of those things that's maintained but not planned for major updates. Having a stacks based update would be nice but I wouldn't hold my breath

@Catija Do you completely delete these post your photos posts?

@Rob if they're deleted as spam, the system will (eventually) remove the image from imgur.
... I think? Crap, now I can't remember if it's spam and rude or just rude.

Rob
3:27 AM
@Catija I think it's self promotion, of course the images could be of someone else. My question was do CMs (Devs) completely delete from everyone such posts, otherwise it's still accessable to some of us; thus promoting the behavior (slightly).
Almost a week ago there was female photos.

No. All we would ever do is remove the image from imgur. There's only been about five posts hard deleted ever.

Rob
Thanks

3:48 AM
@Rob In case the images are NSFW, the team often takes the extra step of redacting the former image URLs from the post, but that's done only for that specific case.

@YaakovEllis I was referring to this and the followup here.

8:27 AM
@Sonic reopened, know you were going to ask. ;)
@SonictheK-DayHedgehog I don't think it's spam. Just the usual off topic stuff, with someone having real issue with his website.

@Shadow10YearsWizard Flag for a moderator to clear the spam flags, and bring the post up in Charcoal to have the feedback removed

@SonictheK-DayHedgehog not only NSFW, private info too.
@Rob why? Just random troll posting selfies, we get such once in a while. Harmless.
Really no need to hard delete anything.
@SonictheK-DayHedgehog meh, not worth this, just shared my late opinion. :)
Now back to my coffee...

After 20 years of consuming large amounts of caffeine every day, @Shadow's body is immune. :P

@JourneymanGeek I think you'd have more luck with decaf ;)

anyone else having problems with search again?

It's slow here. But I don't know if that's search or me ;) Our internet isn't what it used to be, it seems.

For me it times out, or just returns the random 0 results
@Shadow10YearsWizard related: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/348806/…

Yeah, I have the 0 results now too.

@Luuklag looks like it, yes.

Guess it's not the internet here after all.

9:20 AM
@Luuklag yup
@Luuklag yeah, it's broken again.
Interesting. Exactly two weeks, to the minute, after the last bug report.

Q: Search is extremely slow

GlorfindelThe search functionality is broken, it seems, e.g. https://meta.stackexchange.com/search?q=test only loads after more than a minute of waiting. This happens on multiple sites, e.g. also on Stack Overflow.

Probably some troll attacking SE search full force, bringing it down.

Is @mari-lou making just an observation here or was I supposed to handle that differently?
@Shadow10YearsWizard the 09:00 UTC break search batch job.

@rene I would suggest not trying to break your head on that one ;)

okay

@rene no, Mari is wrong this time. This is 1000% off topic.

Q: Search is broken again

LuuklagJust now search is broken again. It takes an incredibly amount of time before returning 0 results. This very well could be a regression of Search is extremely slow

9:24 AM
It was off-topic and it is deleted :)

@Shadow10YearsWizard +1

And for good measure the comment is gone too :)

Can't undo upvotes, but it's deleted so the system will take care of that ;)

Why do you add the question tag? @rene

that is what the userscript it does
it is useful in SOCVR so SMEs can spot requests in their tag.

oh, of course.

@rene What do Small & Medium Enterprises have to do with SE

Rob
11:24 AM
@Shadow10YearsWizard What does the Bürger think of that?

@Luuklag I use the term for subject matter experts.

Ahh that makes more sense @rene

Don't you have work to do, instead of watching your rep? :P

Rob
@Luuklag True, there's over 30 locations offering the service, while profits were down 30% that year. Now, about that raise.

@Rob Why would you need a raise? you already get to drive the ferrari for work, there's no need for you to own one yourself anymore, is there? :P

Not sure if I'm more curious about the cold weather clothing, or the helmet. Camels don't drive that fast, do they?

1:32 PM
@JohnDvorak there are even camel races

... Also I thought the drivers would sit somewhere in the middle like they do with horses
@Luuklag fair point, but even then - do camel racers wear helmets?

@JohnDvorak depends what engine they have.

I would think one HP. Maybe two because of the bigger tyres.

:)
> Speed: 65 km/h (Maximum, In Short Bursts, Running)
Horse reach 88.

nice

1:36 PM
But yeah, in 65 km/h you better have helmet.

That is faster than I expected

@Shadow10YearsWizard Or construct a rolling cage ;)

@JohnDvorak well maximum human speed is 45 km/h
@Luuklag cage?

in short bursts :P
What's the top sustainable speed for camels?

A roll cage is a specially engineered and constructed frame built in (or sometimes around, in which case it is known as an exo cage) the passenger compartment of a vehicle to protect its occupants from being injured or killed in an accident, particularly in the event of a rollover. == Designs == There are many different roll cage designs depending on the application, hence different racing organizations have differing specifications and regulations, although most of these organisation harmonise their regulations with those of the FIA.[1] Roll cages help to stiffen the chassis, which is desirable...

1:42 PM
in before camel zorbing

@Luuklag And if you want to see one of those do it's job... look at the F1 crash by Grosjean this weekend.

while techniqually those don't have a roll cage ;)
@Shadow10YearsWizard btw this is officially a dromedary according to wiki, a camel has two lumps

Then what is that thing called? It's a specially engineered and constructed frame built in/around the car to protect the occupant from being injured or killed in an accident?
What's that other driver that ended up upside down? XD

Monocoque (), also called structural skin, is a structural system in which loads are supported by an object's external skin, similar to an egg shell. The word monocoque is a French term for "single shell" or (of boats) "single hull".First used for boats, a true monocoque carries both tensile and compressive forces within the skin and can be recognised by the absence of a load-carrying internal frame. Few metal aircraft can strictly be regarded as pure monocoques, as they use a metal shell or sheeting reinforced with frames riveted to the skin, but most wooden aircraft are described as monocoques...

@Luuklag okay I don't believe that... the entire external skin of that race car was gone, all that was left was a 'cage', the built frame!

1:46 PM
Where the driver is sitting is a monocoque, the wings and wheels etc. are all added to that

Would spiders count as having monocoques?

@Luuklag I guess we should be happy I don't have a degree in engineering then.
To me, the roll cage sounds more like an F1 car than the monocoque, and sturdier at that XD

Actually... is the human ribcage a monocoque?

@JohnDvorak I don't think so? If I understand that wiki link right, the 'loads are supported by an object's external skin'. The rib cage sounds more like a roll cage to me ;)

more like a turtle shell I think

1:50 PM
Nah, turtle shells don't have skin on top of it, do they?
ribcages (usually) do.

@Luuklag oh lol

the skin around a ribcage isn't structural though?

Advantage of camels: they don't get on fire when they crash.

@JohnDvorak Depends? What's the engineering definition of 'structural'? :P I would say it definitely is part of some kind of structure, and needed to keep things inside the ribcage where they belong :P
@Shadow10YearsWizard You don't know that, there may be gas built up that gets free and ignites due to the sparks caused by crashing :P

too much imagination

Rob
1:56 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard They don't make enough, and have too many expenses already, to keep camels: bloomberg.com/features/2015-mcdonalds-franchises

@Rob I wonder what the insurance rate would be on a camel for road use

@Tinkeringbell nah, that would just be smelly
@Luuklag would be fair question on Travel.SE site! :P

Rob
A smaller vehicle would have lower insurance and be faster:

@JohnDvorak seeing how valuable some of those are I dont think insurance is going to be cheap

2:23 PM
@JohnDvorak is this the race pigeon that was sold for $2000000 last month?

:man_shrugging:

Rob
@JohnDvorak Much better to use Ortolans, you pop the whole thing into your mouth; charge a couple of thousand a pop.

@JohnDvorak That's something I've never been accused of!

2:53 PM
@Tinkeringbell there's always a first time, and I'd take this as a compliment... ;)

@Shadow10YearsWizard XD well this truly was a first time :P I can mimic a lot of things, but that doesn't make them creative ;)

Congrats then! :D

@Luuklag thanks!

Better than test1 and test2.

What you guys think of closing this: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/34000/… Wouldn't a historical lock be more appropriate. Seeing that it is old, and it is John Skeet?

@Luuklag I'm a fan of letting posts like that be as much as possible

@JourneymanGeek Well it has 2 close votes, so I think that station is passed @JourneymanGeek ;)

If it used to be acceptable and is off-topic now, a historical lock might work.
If it's not really off-topic now, it's going to be re-opened pretty soon I guess.

Well it is only about 1 specific site (SO), so yeah I guess it would be off-topic

So - part of the problem is there's a bit of a tug of war between folks who want MSE to be more professional and completely lack humour and the folks who kinda want MSE to be fun :D
I'd just hammer that back open if it was closed and I noticed

3:30 PM
@JourneymanGeek I don't mind the fun part, but technically it is only about 1 site. However the mechanism applies to all sites. So I'm a bit divided

Well is it of interest outside SO?
cause it is :D
actually looking at the history, it was one closevote + one closevote from review and 3 leave open votes

Rob
Questions from '09 applied to all sites, as we were SO's Meta.

@Rob Yeah I know, the famous split

Rob
As a general question, for everyone and every site, egreg has 870K on LaTeX; but that site discourages negative votes, not that he has any. He's hit by the limit, regularly.

3:48 PM
hehe, single answer, bounty fully refunded.

@Shadow10YearsWizard huh?
Well I got to go, picking up the kids.

@Luuklag say "hi" to your kids on my behalf! :D
@Luuklag started bounty of 150 earlier on MSE... and got exactly 150 rep today on a single answer.

Rob
As you can see in the chart: "The Suffering of egreg" he's not won a large bounty, nor very many, it's been hard work (pension) coasting past 200 on most days:

Who is egreg?
Well, not pingable here.

Rob
He's egrep's brother
