@SonictheK-DayHedgehog well - we have heard stuff that sounded good - but it's also important to remember how quickly stuff can change. There's a reason I sounded off about the specific issue even if rectified

It's probably going to be tough for someone to justify leaving a safe CM role elsewhere considering it's a team that was downsized recently

Interest in the job from mods is almost non existent :(

And usually the process started sooner than it has now. Usually I'd have gotten a rejection letter within 2 weeks of the job opening going up. I applied about 2 weeks after and am waiting on feedback.

Well, I don't think it is. It looks like you're stating facts, assuming you're told by former mods that that was the reason they didn't sign. If you're just repeating hearsay then your comments isn't helping and might be insulting to some (for keeping rumors around)

In general that question has a problem: it rules out participation of a certain group up-front. That is often a sign it tries to steer the outcome of the discussion. That doesn't feel right. If your comments don't help the goal of the OP you can expect push back. Red flagging comments and trying to get others to do the same is good tactic then. Leave it to the MSE mods to handle and sit back and watch. Not worth much of your time.

Yeah, I threw a "needs more focus" close vote since I felt answers to it would be too drawn out.

Well yes and no

There's a certain amount of stuff mods can do "in community" but often problems have a broader area of effect than just one site

Its not an issue with SE but you might also sometimes have issues with an entire community

@JourneymanGeek Reddit is.... well, take Stack Exchange, multiple amount of sites and users by 100, decrease quality by 99%, and increase trolls level by 1000. Not something anyone wants to, or can, really moderate. IMO

(in big scale, I mean. Of course each sub-reddit can moderate itself pretty well, otherwise Reddit would be gone long ago.)

I honestly don't believe anyone can fit that role, or survive in it more than few days.

@JourneymanGeek I know someone who worked in the sewer treatment plant, maintaining the pumps. There's nothing "butt shittier" than that.

I don't sleep a lot (4-5 hours per night) but out of choice (can sleep 6 hours if I want) and on the same hours every time, so I'm fine.

for some reason, in all the documentation i seen or live stream on the news (that show sewers), it's somehow always dry and "clean".

So much so, sometimes they held some special thing in there, like painting (happened once or twice).

Though i can't vouch for the smell as i never been there myself...

@JourneymanGeek I'm thinking of doing this a lots for question i asked on emacs.SE and vi.SE since, a couple still don't have an answer...(and asking on the respective github as issues usually take too long or don't yield any helpful answer, depending on the subject)

I don't particularly hate irc, but i don't really like it, mainly because on how the account system/handling is awful, and always nearly rely on third party (which, i don't mind if it's done like SO does, but, in irc case, there just too much options for third party, and it's unsure which is the best unless you try them all or stick to "reviews")

@Rob oh, i think that's mostly for the prompt (my question mostly relate to TUI, as in, text interface in bash). Though that link does have some interesting use of printf that i didn't know... :D
