Is anyone else endlessly annoyed by people that are incapable of giving single word answers to questions?

Questions with the only answer should be a number, or "I don't know"

but instead you have to sit and listen to an entire essay before they get around to answering your question

Usually the leeway is afforded to political statements or self-promotion that would have no business in questions/answers, rather than plainly offensive content. For what you describe, it probably depends on the details.

@Jou, I suspect many lifetimes of work was lost to what's humorously been called 6-8 weeks. --- I simply remember that it's not my site, and that they can choose to fix it, or not. --- When something's extra important I'm certain to mention it; when something's not so important I won't be typing it in, for the several follow-up questions one sometimes has to fend off (while the person you are writing to totally got it the first time). --- The result is that my bug reports usually get dealt

with in a few hours - because I'm a low consumer of bandwidth.

^^ It's a tough job, where you work in a pool of drool, with patients who likely have some apprehension and complaint; and all the tools and equipment is very expensive. Going to school for the same length of time to become an Optometrist, Audiologist, Podiatrist, etc. certainly involves a lesser investment in equipment; though because people don't think about preventative maintenance for those things you tend to get a lag on customer intake, they don't show up until it's bad (while with a

toothache they show up pretty quick).
