In an answer to a related question I asked yesterday, a Stack Exchange community manager said:
Remember that when a moderator is hired as a Stack Exchange employee, they have to step down as a volunteer moderator.
I'm curious: why does this requirement exist? Why are moderators who get hire...
@Rob /elections shows only elections but not appointed pro-tempore, including mods that have stepped down. OTOH, /moderators only shows current moderators
it's... kind of confusing since election on beta sites is kind of new, only started since August 2018
correction: April 2018, the first election on beta site: Parenting.SE.
@DavidPostill Reminds me of this place I worked at, where the supervisor was near impossible to work for and abusive to others (not quite as bad to me). What he did do was call me in for a half hour and 3/4 a few times. He was so bad to work for, and had yelled maniacally at a couple of other people, that we agreed that I would be leaving after a few days working there. --- Long story short, I got paid the minimum of four hours for each time I went there; resulting in a doubling of my paycheck. ---
Long story longer, a couple of years later the owner dismissed him, they were simply losing too many talented people vs. keeping him in charge.
@Ollie He'll still get pinged. You can hover over a message and click the arrow to reply to it, which links it to whatever message you're replying to and @ mentions the user who posted it.
Another question: What can you do about a user who has several inappropriate profiles across the network? Should you do anything? I've flagged this user's posted content before, and noticed their profile quite by accident.
@Ollie If windows 10 - none of that will change the font (there is a graphics display near those settings but it doesn't effect font): check your theme and accessibility options. Those are the only basic settings which can change font display (...and I guess "font" itself to ensure all the available fonts are actually installed)
Second thing to check (presuming the SuperUser reg answer said something like change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows<varies>\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes) - make sure "ClearType" is off. Otherwise it will override the reg setting in regards to "bold", "italics", and the like
After that - its a reg deep dive and those are never fun. Always end up with the bends when I have to do that
@ShadowWizardWearingMask No, being in charge is a pain and doesn't pay enough; better someone else has all the headaches, assigns the work, and takes responsibility for the outcome.
This quarter, we tried something new for the Community Team roadmap and worked through every idea the community team had in an initial planning session. Here’s what made the cut for Q3.
@ShadowWizardWearingMask Low salary, so you are really rich [takes notes] - Nurse's average salary is U$35.36. -- Happy for you that the amount is considered "low".
I just posted to our blog about our Third Quarter Community Roadmap for 2020.
Please see the post for details on the projects that our Community and Public Platform teams aim to work on this quarter.
We are interested in your thoughts and questions regarding our upcoming projects and priorities ...

The series has been aired in many countries outside Japan...
Oxtail soup is made with beef tails. The use of the word "ox" in this context is a legacy of nomenclature; no specialized stock of beef animals are used and tails may come from bovines other than oxen. It is believed by some that oxtail soup was invented in Spitalfields in London in the seventeenth century by French Huguenot and Flemish immigrants, from the tails of animals. Different versions of oxtail soup exist: Korean, Chinese, a fried/barbecued oxtail combined with soup variation which is a popular dish in Indonesia where it is called as sop buntut. An ethnic dish of the American South which...
@M.A.R. Oh, I don't mind graphic. But given where the disgusting food discussion ended up last time (also due to my fault) it seemed better to not start another one ;)
@Tinkeringbell lol no. Code that generates five random letters or digits, and show imgur image with such URL. 80% of those actually got an image, since imgur have so many images hosted on it. Don't try at work though for... obvious reasons. :P
