@ShadowWizardWearingMask I'm a bit late, but weren't you one of those hedgehogs? Your Den chatroom even references a "looming black hedgehog". You seem to have graduated to Wizard, though, so there's that :)

@Spevacus hehe, not really... I'm Wizard for 20-ish years, and was a Hedgehog Wizard for a while two and half years ago, as respect for Sonic who later started to also change his own name according to what I choose. Here is a reference to my days as Hedgehog:

@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard You're not a hedgehog wizard
And yeah, I also had avatar of a big black hedgehog. :)
Were you around back then? checking
No you weren't.... how do you remember??

@ShadowWizardWearingMask there wasn't SE 20 years ago 😁

@JourneymanGeek On other sites on the Internet?

@SonictheMaskedWerehog other... Siiiiteeess? There are such things? 🀣🀣🀣🀣

@JourneymanGeek I was Wizard elsewhere.... :P
@SonictheMaskedWerehog exactly
@JourneymanGeek actually most sites I was active in back then are now closed... wait... ALL of them.
Am I... cursed?
aspfree forums...
some funky forums not programming related, e.g. Mike Rowe Soft (?) forums...
Guess I just had habit of joining small places.
And SE itself was on a sure way to oblivion, but with Divine Intervention got back to track, somehow.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Stack Exchange is also a very tiny spec on the Internet, so the habit remains. You can aspire to achieve the following (and importance) of Augustus Maywho (in the film, the mayor is named "Ned McDodd"), and yours decisions will influence several people in the world. Horton is another character portrayed in the book. The parallels are rather amusing, we'll have to go without an
all too complicated image from the book. ;)

@ShadowWizardWearingMask I only remember from that brief stint two yearsish ago. I was a lurker then :)

July 2020 Welcome to ISSUE #28 of the Overflow! This newsletter is by developers, for developers, written and curated by the Stack Overflow team and Cassidy Williams at Netlify. In the US, we’re celebrating our Independance Day, and hopefully reflecting on what freedom means and helping everyone share in that freedom. This week, we’re pondering…

Q: In which of the Stack Exchange community can I ask a question about copyrights violation of a very simple sketch?

inorI have a question about very simple sketches and whether they are copyrighted. At which SE network site can I ask about that?

Why teh downrate?
It doesn't seem to contain anything outrageous

@M.A.R. not enough research?

Maybe
It just sounds like voting goes 'awry' often in these non-sentimental questions.
Oh now that's a capital offense
RIP :'(
Downvoted already - gotta love StackExchange culture. There are always a few downvotes on YouTube videos too, I wonder who does that. — Todd 12 mins ago
Heh. SE users of course. Our anatomy is just naturally inclined towards the downvote button.

@Rob thanks, looks like a good reading.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask did you just call @Yaakov divine

@M.A.R. that user spammed tons of questions linking to his downvoted question. No sympathy from me to such a person.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Huh?

@M.A.R. well, he does believe in God, and he intervened.

I mean he looks holy and stuff
I dunno honestly if SE was off-track or is back on track for the outsider

7:04 PM
All of those are answers linking to his single question.
In my dictionary, it's trolling. :/

I wondered the amount of activity seems high for a typical cloze iz bad post
He'd just be inviting the YouTube disagreement thing more, then

@M.A.R. it's back on a different track than it was headed before the whole drama. A social track, but which does involve the active community.
Better than closing the lights...
@M.A.R. the beard? πŸ§”

@ShadowWizardWearingMask I know that would have been the inevitable end and would have come sooner with all the welcomingness but I mean has the rate of asking and answering on SO gone higher/ recovered?
That is the most primitive way of measuring success or downfall
@ShadowWizardWearingMask Sure, why do you think I keep mine
You should keep a beard too. Would go well with the whole Jaime hair

@M.A.R. show me yours and I'll show you mine

Hmm, I should shave

7:13 PM
@M.A.R. Corona scrambled all the cards, causing a rise in activity, so it's impossible to tell what other factors affected it.
@M.A.R. he has only two kidneys so can't be you.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask How are you so sure he's not an alien?

@M.A.R. this is the proof:

the stats on SO are kinda interesting. when this whole, lockdown, or whatever hit full swing in the US the number of questions asked and pages viewed per day increased, but the number of visits did not
at least, not significantly

Lurkers decided to join, most likely.

Oh. Comments nuked.

Noooo my lurker brethren!
@ShadowWizardWearingMask Yeah I saw this earlier. Answers promoting their question. Both answers were just the same message linking to it.

i imagine it's because when working remote, people felt more inclined to participate during a period of time where normally they're on a work network/pc

Q: Can questions capture and show how much time the user spends writing them?

ToddIf someone only spends 5 seconds writing a post, perhaps a moderator can be more sure of their decision to vote for close. If the user spent more time, then perhaps that will help moderators and responders gain a deeper empathy for the poster, seeing that they took the time, perhaps seeing that t...

Hmm, apparently this guy genuinely wants to help, but they have no idea how diverse site usage patterns can be.
Someone should link to "How can I meta and not die"

@M.A.R. No. Google has already read the whole book over your shoulder and indexed it.

Oh the good ol' Google, that will know me better than my future wife would ever wish to

@M.A.R. You're in luck, I have an autocomment for that

Note that here on Meta Stack Exchange, on questions requesting new features, voting is used to signify agreement or disagreement with a given proposal, so if your question gets downvoted, it may just mean that people disagree with your proposal, not necessarily that your question is bad for the site. — Sonic the Masked Werehog 2 mins ago
What, no, not this one. Although I've probably never read that page

Q: How do I participate in Meta and not die trying?

rlb.usaMeta doesn't like me; I can't seem to keep my points. How can I make good posts that are well-received?

Although the advice is a bit outdated, hmm
