@MyWrathAcademia No. Yes. If it's on the same site you vote to close as a duplicate, if the answer to be linked is on another site you treat as an off site link and follow the guidelines for referencing content hosted elsewhere.

@JourneymanGeek @DavidPostill I see, thanks. The question is not a duplicate but I answered a question about a problem of that nature, and I think my answer can be applied to that question. My answer was gonna be more along the lines of "here's the answer".
The issue is I wrote that answer a long time ago (and I don't use that technology anymore), and I don't have the time right now to read up my old answer and adapt/extend it into a new answer.
Since the OP is stuck on that problem now I believe he can use my solution to solve his own problem. If it's my answer I am reusing then is it not …

@MyWrathAcademia Comments may be used for tentative answers, or where you don't have time to write up a full answer. Just be aware that someone might steal your comment and write a proper answer.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Not everybody has time to write a full answer. It is common on Super User, and we don't discourage it, to do what I've suggested, and then potentially write a full answer later (and delete the comment) if the suggestion worked. Nothing is worse than an answer that says this may solve your problem. A comment in these cases is preferable (at least on my site - where I am a mod). The sites where you hang out may not agree of course ...
