@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Is it true that Kosher meals on airplanes have to be specially packed and can't be served on an open tray or in courses (in premium cabins)?

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog not that I know of, but probably rules are more strict with Haredim.

@V2Blast brews a cup of mint tea for @V2Blast

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou It's more of a precaution to make sure you're getting the right thing than anything else.

@Mithical packed, sure. But not on open tray I've never seen. (people just open the folding tray and place the food on it.)
But never flew with Haredim or in premium so don't really know...
@Mithical you're allowed to sit again. ;)

In that blog article are some pictures of business class airline meals. As you can see, typically it's all open and served on proper plates, while for the Kosher option it's all wrapped
Is this typical of all airlines, or just the one cited there?

9:11 AM
That seems like an unanswerable question, who here has sampled kosher meal options in all airlines :)

What's SX's stance on replacing images with text?

Example: Replacing this screenshot with an output from tree, that would show the same structure and files - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/22317206/failed-to-load-resource-the-server-responded-with-a-status-of-404-not-found

Reasons for doing so: accessibility, searchability, load times

Don't edit turds in 1st place.

presumably Stack eXchange

First time I see this in use... :/

Yes, StackExchange
@πάνταῥεῖ I can see that. I'm going through posts that have images without descriptions, by most viewed first

1:46 PM
Anyway, of course text is better when the screenshot is mostly text. Question is if it's easy to copy it as text.
In case of code and error messages, using text is a must, and if not, it's a reason to downvote.
But in case of more complex things, we can't really demand the OP to copy the lines manually, so it's fine to have screenshots.

Hmh. This one already has 800k views and a score of 60. Guessing it's going to stay up.
Demanding OP does it is different from thinking it's okay that someone else does it though

If one is willing to do it then sure, it's a good thing.

(Is there a way to show by most views in the past x months?)
Alright =) - I just discovered the existense of data.SX today

@Jonta no, no way to sort by views.
(only in SEDE)

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Only if the question is worth it at least.

@Jonta IT"S A TRAP!

@πάνταῥεῖ meh, you're the one editing off topic questions on MSE... ;)
(just to have them deleted shortly after)

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Well yes, in SEDE. Hm. Add last activity as a criterion perhaps?

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou I read that eating

@M.A.R. What's the trap?

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Teaching users :-P ....

@Jonta well it's matter of SQL then... all the data is there, yes.

@Jonta Once you go in, you can't come out

@πάνταῥεῖ rofl

What if I want to stay in? (Even though it's MS SQL)

@M.A.R. anything can come out... it's a matter of how much you're willing to pay.
:D
@M.A.R. maybe... as far as I can tell, dear Mr. @πάνταῥεῖ might be printing those questions, then eating the paper.
:P

@Jonta not rare here... actually people like @rene who are pro-MS are rare.... :P

@Jonta Don't do it. period.

I'm in the middle: using MS all the time but keep ranting about their bugs and problemz. ;)

@πάνταῥεῖ Don't do what?

🚽

@user400654 must do it sometimes, no choice.

@Jonta Edit!

@πάνταῥεῖ Why not?

2:00 PM
@Jonta Because polishing turds is not appreciated.

That sounds like a false dichotomy to me

?

If the edit makes a turd less of a turd, then that's a good thing.
But editing to add image descriptions should always be good, right? It just improves accessibility.

::dances away from the cynisism, and keeps editing::

Writing a technical spec increases the chances of having a successful project, service, or feature that all stakeholders involved are satisfied with. It decreases the chances of something going horribly wrong during implementation and even after you’ve launched your product.

Dorodango (泥だんご, lit. "Mud dumpling") is a Japanese art form in which earth and water are molded to create a delicate shiny sphere, resembling a billiard ball. == Etymology == The phrase 泥だんご, reading dorodango, is derived from 泥 (doro どろ) literally "mud" in Japanese だんご (dango) a type of round dumpling created from pressed rice flour. == Technique == Making the basic dorodango is a traditional pastime for school children. More recently, the process has been refined into the art of the hikaru ("shining") dorodango (光る泥だんご), which has a glossy surface. Several different techniques can be used...

We get quite a lot of images of text on Physic.SE. Most of them are homework dumps, which we can VTC as off-topic. But often it's for equations from people who don't know about MathJax, or who haven't learned enough MathJax to write the equations they need. Fortunately, there are several users with <2k rep who are happy to spend the time transcribing the equations from the image into MathJax. That can be a lot of work for a measly 2 points. :)

3:59 PM
Interesting... looks like that Chipps post which was deleted during the Monica settlement was also redacted, without revision history, from any posts linking to it.

@PM2Ring I hop around the network transcribing images at times. It's a good way to pass some time...

@PM2Ring I've found it very useful to create a meta post explaining why we don't like that. I've got one on AU and U&L in case you don't have one and want to copy it over:

Q: PSA: Please don't post images of text

terdonWhen asking or answering questions, please don't post screenshots of text. This is a very bad idea because: You can't copy/paste the commands into answers, google searches, local files to work on a solution, or anything else. They won't come up when searching The post is heavier (in terms of th...

I then have an auto-comment linking to that post which makes telling new users about it very easy.

Question to all parents here: if a teacher shares NSFW image in her class whatsapp group (with the students, 4th grade) by mistake... What should the parents do? So far most parents call to immediately suspend the teacher and even file a lawsuit against her, only few (I'm among them) prefer to at least wait to hear her side and what led her to that mistake. Opinions?
@djsmiley2kStaysInside make sure it's still there... No place is safe these days... 😳
@Rob Lions always pay their debts.
@terdon but if it can't make the turd stop smelling, what's the point?
It will still stink and need to be flushed.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Obligatory "Not a parent, but..." - I think your choice is the far more acceptable one. People make honest mistakes, though I would definitely note how serious exposing kids (yikes, 4th grade?) to NSFW material can be. Losing your job over a mistake like that would be pretty sad, but if this is a repeat occurrence of irresponsible behavior... That's a bit of a different matter. Definitely contact the teacher and hope you hear back ASAP.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou I don't need the nitty gritty details, but what kind of NSFW are we talking here?
(I'm not a parent either, so more curious than anything)

@Rubiksmoose eggs with balls. Literally.
@Spevacus she replied to some other parent, essentially saying "Sorry, I did a honest mistake", but without further details. Parents already involved the school principal and higher ranks, I'll see tomorrow how it unfolds...

9:47 PM
I don't quite understand how people get themselves into such situations

Blue eggs are more common than some might expect, so no guess on the species.

I figure I'd ask this here before posting a question, since I'm not sure whether I'd be using the discussion tag "correctly." Would a question (concerning the review queue overhaul project mentioned here) that asked the network about what changes they would like to see incorporated in the overhaul be at all off-topic?
I've a bit of trepidation only because it's rather... broad. I'm not posting many feature-requests per se (I'll incorporate a few things I'd like to see, but not too many), just asking what others would like to see.
